    Finally! Someone who really goes into full detail on the clays. I love that you added the hammer test, cuz I refuse to sell easily broken pieces.

    I'm about to try polymer clay for the first time, but I don't know how durable my project (not jewelry and mostly inside/in a purse or backpack) needs to be.

    • @lydiajackson6741
      @lydiajackson6741 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly just make a little dinky version of your project that you don’t care about too much, and do a durability test. For lil objects I’d recommend a more durable clay so your friend can live in your purse for many years without cracking

    I appreciate the video but i'm still not sure which one I should choose. I make figurines. I'm looking for something easy to work with because my hands are pretty weak, I don't want it to harden easily in room temperature, because i sure do take my time working with my crafts, but I still want it to hold detail. Somebody give me advice

    I know that you said cernit has a transluscent finish. Would it work well with mod podge matte and/or glossy finish?

    I made the mistake by buying sculpey III which I used to make a brooch or badge with and it broke like a biscuit.

    I'm going to have to mix with translucent since it is crumbs and clay to soft. So my canes get mushy

    • @Jennifooclay
      @Jennifooclay  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oi crumbly and mushy clay is not fun. I notice that some stores have very old clay which is why it crumbles so I sometimes mix in newer clay. I am very picky about picking clay lol. Stare at the packaging, and make sure it looks new with minimal cracks and discoloration ect. Hope that helps and best of luck to you!!

      Which Clay is it? Imo Fimo pro is a clear winner in this vid (I’ve never used a decent clay), just wondering.

    What are you opinions for the hobby lobby and Michael's brands. And for me kato was to hard to work with at all

    • @Jennifooclay
      @Jennifooclay  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Liz! You might be like me, I have a hard time with stiff clay. Kato is stiff, but after you condition it through a pasta machine, it stays together well and its almost anti-stick attributes is a plus. Fimo Pro has always been the most difficult because it takes forever to condition even with a pasta machine because it can get very crumbly. Always look at the clay before your buy, as very old clay can be crumbly too (avoid the ones with cracks in them). I once did online pickup, and they gave me old Sculpey Premo clay and it was so crumbly! Even though I know Sculpey Premo should be easy to condition. I had to return them and go back and pick out new clay from the shelf.
      After experimenting here and there, Sculpey Premo is my go to clay. I keep some Kato on hand to mix into Sculpey Premo if for whatever reason I want to firm up the consistency when caning. Sculpey Premo is easy to condition, but great for professional work like jewelry making (durable, good finish & so many colors to choose from). Sculpey Souffle is another favorite, it's more foam-like and bakes lighter. As with most clayers, i'd avoid Sculpey III if you want durability. But Sculpey III is useful to mix into stiff clay to make stiff clay softer. Hope this helps!

    Hi, do you know which brands are vegan and which are phthalate-free? I find very difficult to find this information online. Thanks a lot.

    • @Jennifooclay
      @Jennifooclay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's an interesting question and i'll have to look into that. And if I find something, i'll be sure to let you know. Thanks for asking :-)

    • @Jennifooclay
      @Jennifooclay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      After looking into things, I see why the information is difficult to find due how certain clay brands would be vegan at first then change later. I did try contacting several manufactures, and so far found that Kato to get the most consistent responses (according to shadesofclay & polymerclaysuperstore).
