Una muy interesante posición, después de sufrir cáncer he buscado múltiples explicaciones del por que paso y como funciona, esta del Profesor Seyfried me impresiono. Gracias por compartir esto, saludos desde Colombia
How do we (as cancer patients) access these metabolic therapies? I live in the Republic of Ireland. I'm due to see the local oncologist for the first time soon, knowing that I'll be confronted with the blinding florescent light of the somatic mutation paradigm. I would greatly appreciate a reply.
I have Waldenstrom, a type of lymphoma, i was all ready to start the ketogenic diet when I saw an article that said that some cancers are enhanced by a keto diet but nowhere can I find which cancers. Any data about this? Can i adopt a keto diet safely with my cancer type?
Dear Dr. Thomas Seyfried, the only thing I am bit confused is about glutamine metabolism in cancer. Cancer is a metabolic disorder caused by mitochondrial dysfunction. Undoubtedly, cancer feeds on fermentation of glucose and glutamine. But to get energy from glutamine, I suppose it has to go through the Citric acid cycle and it occurs in inner membrane of mitochondria and i wonder how dysfunction mitochodria allows glutamine to go to CAC. I have little knowledge of biochemisty and i am not been able to research on glutamine metabolism outside the mitochondria . But I am confused as many researches relate glutamine on dogma of somatic mutation. Dr. Amit from Nepal
I don’t understand why no one ever asks Dr. Seyfried if ‘he’ does water fasting or if he eats a ketogenic diet!? Does anyone know? Also, how long does someone diagnosed with cancer need to be on a ketogenic diet? Is it for life? Finally, what is the drug that he recommended for glutamine restriction? How do you get it, by prescription?
Katrina Cabral the drug is the glutaminase inhibitor DON (6-diazo-5-oxo-L-norleucine). From past interviews I don’t get the impression Dr Seyfried feels his own personal history and lifestyle put him at high risk of mitochondrial insults, so while he might not follow a therapeutic ketogenic diet, he likely isn’t living an ad libitum standard American diet either. Best of both worlds maybe www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5324220/
my wife's sister is starting her 6th round chemo today for 4th stage colon cancer. any help finding a metabolic therapist in the chicago area is appreciated. we've been keto for 7 years. she has tried keto off and on a year. her current oncologist (since 1/2019) is not aware of the import of mitochondria nor keto. please reply here if you know of how to contact dr seyfried or the foundation for metabolic cancer therapies or a therapist near Chicago. thank you. jn
@A B you're talking about joe tippens right? www.mycancerstory.rocks/ this sister is a skeptic and on her 7th round of chemo. tumors shrunk a bit and she's starting to get more energy. and a little cocky. says she's not going to do alternative therapies - inspite of improving her diet massively. can you give a lead on a more conventional looking version of joe tippens experience that we can work on her?

Dr. Seyfried: How do we heal from the toxic effects of cancer treatment? I follow a Ketogenic diet, fast and take supplements. Is there something else I should be doing?
You need to read hi study. Fasting is important , such mechanism as autophagy gets switched on. To my understanding , his patients went though chemo and other toxic stuff before they got in to his hands . So the treatment to a 4th stage breast cancer patient is below Efficacy of Metabolically Supported Chemotherapy Combined with Ketogenic Diet, Hyperthermia, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Stage IV Triple-Negative Breast Cancer- www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5589510/ Therapeutic benefit of combining calorie-restricted ketogenic diet and glutamine targeting in late-stage experimental glioblastoma- www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6541653/
Have your vitamin d ( which is a hormone) checked. 60-80 seems to be good. And magnesium and a b complex 50 mg of each b vitamin. Dr Stasha protocol for nutrients for sleep.
I have been on LowCarb-HighFat thereby Low Inflammation diet for the last 3 years. It is tasty, it is nourishing. I have been on Intermittent Fasting for the last 2 years, I eat two time a days, often one time a day, and i did not need religion for that, you just need some consciousness.
Thanks

So how do you cut out glucose and glutamine without starving to death? Is there a food list?

@@thomasseyfried7451 how much glutaminase inhbitor do you take - and how long do you do it for when you have GKI of 1?
Such an interesting interview. This should be much more widely known and studiied. A much better way.
Thanks for the information, awareness

Q1:?
Q2:-Ketogenic diet for the rest of my life. And water/salt fasting.
Q3-Glutamin inhibitor: 6-diazo-5-oxo-norleucine (DON) Prescription.

Because it’s irrelevant.

Exercise, which may simply be long walks.
Quality Sleep. Nothing else rejuvenates the body better.😴

Have you ever looked into FAR heat/sauna as a complimentary therapy to this?
