As a Brit. and a long time country music and lover of Americana we never got to see much country music till Johnny Cash had his show just about everywhere in the 60s . My older brother was /is a retro music D.J. and introduced most of the family & friends to
Rockabilly records that he used to buy at different auctions and one or two foreign D.J.s who sent him updates of singers ,practically unknown to most of us ,but we caught up in the 70s through live appearances at Rock n Roll weekenders all over the country .Since then my youngest brother has been with various groups and has played in Northern & Southern mainland Europe where old Rockabilly & Rock n Roll is very much - still the in thing with the music ,lifestyle and the cars and Harley"s ?.The family has probably owned more American cars & bikes than most families living there and Grandpa Jones and others on Hee Haw were just another gang of great entertainers we never got to see live .But it"s good to see he and the rest are remembered - especially on
    You Tube ?. 🤠.

Cool! I wrote to him and asked him to do a sketch and he did, explaining how the figure he drew was related to his early days on a radio station. He was a really nice guy!

I remember on Saturday night, watching Hee Haw at 7 pm, then switching to CBS and watching "All in the Family", "The Jeffersons", "Mary Tyler Moore Show", "Bob Newhart Show" and finally "Carol Burnett Show".

I saw grandpa Jones in concert when I was a kid. It’s a funny story because he was on stage selling his records he asked if anybody in the audience that would like to buy one raise your hands and I raised my hand because I wanted one not understanding you have to pay for it. My dad saw my hand up took it back down and told grandpa Jones she doesn’t want one and he said OK. But it’s funny because my dad was so embarrassed because I raise my hand. I must’ve been about eight or nine when this happened.
