- RC of the Year? Quite possibly. Fun factor is off the charts with stellar performance, even bone stock. Here's my first full throttle runs since the "death rock" mishap and upgrading to M2C Racing 7075 beef and ridiculous 980kv 56112 Hobbystar power. Big thanks to my brother David for a Killer fun session!!! Shout out to Mitch with M2C Racing for changing the bash game. Huge thanks also to Fast Track Hobbies in Rocklin, CA for the wonderful service and support. You guys rock!!!!

The 34/39 gearing is plenty for going balls out with gobs of torque and wheelspin. She's running better than ever with the diffs dialed too 👍. Dave did a Killer job with his M2C build 😱. So stoked to have a fun dual 08s run at that big spot 🥰🥰. The Typhon and 800kv 1/1 XMaxx were both hauling ass out there 👀. Just a wonderful break in bash for Brother Dave. He's loving the 08s. Still getting his brake dialed with the Castle ESC, but didn't hold back one bit. 🍻🤙🤙😎💪👊👊
That's what I call a bashing session. The Typhon looked to blasting fast and the XMaxx was able to keep up 😳 dang.

Rich thanks to your help did my entire build after your truck since I loved that setup so much our trucks are identical with exception of I have Outcast 39t spur. Waiting on QS8 connectors and Ill let her rip thanks for all your insight and help with build. I mainly fly planes now and was my first build since my Baja in 2010 loved this build!

Wow rich great video on that outcast EXB 8S. Pretty much is now. I have a 8S EXB outcast love it. I just think the chassis are very weak for some reason. Gonna go with M2c soon my bulks head's striped out in the front since the chassis bent. Bent her back 2 times now very annoying.

is there anyway to keep rocks and pebbles out from the drive shafts? I keep getting rocks getting bound up under the tbars and one even slightly bent a bar and it doesn't spin evenly. I guess I could rig up some kinda bud gaurd possibly. cool video!

I just picked up a new outcast 8s... and recommendations on what to do immediately? I’m looking at diff fluids and changing to the 23t pinion but not sure if the stock electronics will hold up under hard bashing with that gearing. Thanks as always Rich
Congrats Justin 😱!!!! The O8s can take that 23T all day long. The electronics are super efficient 👍. I ran 23T since the first run and even ran 23/39 gearing with the stock system 👀. I recommend 1 million cst front and 500k rear diffs. Putting 50/50 Silicone earplug and 20mil cst center works Fantastic 😍👍👍😎💪👊👊

Rich I have a quick question for you about the hobbystar 980kv max5 combo your running. Did you just solder new 6.5 bullet connectors on the motor leads to make it work with the max5 and if so any issues at all with it. Don’t really want to get an XLX2 because of all the fire issues plus I’m a hobbywing guy. Thanks for any advise you give me love your videos
So sorry I missed your question Clayton 👀. Yes I melt off the 8mm Hobbystar connectors with my butane torch and solder on 6.5mm to fit the Hobbywing. When the XLX works right it's great from what I hear. That said, Castle (like Traxxas) is generally overpriced for what you get in my opinion. The Max5 has worked very well and been very reliable for me personally. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Just absolutely sick footage as always Rich!! Poor Folsom looks drained! Shout out from Elk Grove!! I don't know if you know this, but in Elk Grove they have a BMX Park with some super vertical jumps I think you would really enjoy bashing. I was just out there yesterday with the Arrma Outcast 6s. I know I've seen you at Elkhorn BMX and what looks like Roseville BMX (not sure if that's still there). But yeah big big jumps in EG and it's a nice little park with a lake with fishing. It's a nice little place IMO.
P.S. I watched that death rock hit like 50x times. Jesus that was a hard hit. I think that tops anything Kevin Talbot has done!! (Death rock impact) Insane air for 1/5 scale! Rich Duperbash the LEGEND!!

Thanks so much Brother 👊. The 980 is a powerhouse. Great top end. You could gear tall and get good results. Which pinion to opt for, I'm not certain with the stock 47T spur. I'd opt for the direct fit 8s 39T spur gear ARRMA now offers, personally. My setup using the Limitless 39T spool gear works great too, just requires use of 2 grub screws. I think they copied me 😂. It allows you to achieve perfect gearing without a gigantic pinion. 🍻😎💪👊👊

We were at the Laurel Ruff education center off of Hemlock. There's a baseball backstop with an entrance to this area. Just watch for people walking their dogs out there. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Thanks so much Alan 🤗. Really appreciate the kind words. I would probably pick the new Big Rock over the Granite. ARRMA widened the stance (among other things) and it's much easier to get the power down with the longer, more stable chassis 👍. The Granite is Fantastic at the skateparks with it's ability to turn on a dime 😍. Not sure I'd wait for next year's releases. There's no wrong choice regardless. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Do you get any low throttle clogging with the 34/39 gearing. I’m getting a little more than I’m happy with running that combo. I was wondering if you stuck with that gearing, or went down on the pinion. Also, I snapped a 7mm M2C shock shaft just doing some light bashing!!! I know they will take care of it, but I wish there was a solution to the weak link in this truck with the shocks. Any input on your suspension set up would also be appreciated.

Hey Jason 🤗. I originally did have some cogging with 34/39 980kv in my Kraton, but later realized I had a connector going bad as it unsoldered towards the end of the run. Really didn't have cogging at all in my Outcast with the stock size wheels. I do think 32/39 is better for any beefier wheels especially 👍. This system got borrowed into my K8s EXB and 32/39 worked Killer with the bigger style Copperhead 2's. Unfortunately, my 980kv took damage during my earlier "Death Rock" incident and the endbell eventually stripped out completely along with a very stretched out wire harness. That sucks you broke a 7mm shaft 👀. That would normally take considerable force. I still think running softer suspension with 35 weight front and 30 rear is a good mix with the M2C pistons. Make sure not to overfill your shocks when running the stock caps and bladders. I usually leave around 3/8" from the top before bleeding them and tightening the caps. Hopefully we'll see an M2C bladderless set-up soon. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Hey. I am running HS 980kv with HW max5. 39/31. With PH batteries and my ec5 connectors are getting xtremly hot. How can I solve it? I do not see you having that issue.
I'm not familiar with PH lipos. Could be a bad solder joint causing resistance, that's my best guess. What are the battery specs and are you getting specific numbers on the temps with an infrared temp gun 🤔
Great video, just wondering if putting heavier diff oil in my front diff will help with my wheels ballooning and tyres coming off my rim's, just got standard in all diffs at the moment and just put a 1100kv hobbywing motor in with a 30 t pinion but haven't tried it out yet so don't know if it will be even worse on the tyres, if not might try some badlands mx43, what do you think always appreciate your input, take care gaz 😉✌
Heavier oil helps with ballooning, if you put it in the center diff instead. Heavy oil in front/rear diffs might help in turns, but generally you only need it in the center diff.
@@sampuhhupmas5666 got 20 million in the centre so apart from mix of silicone plugs and silicone oil, maybe new tyres and wheels as mine came off the rim and now they come off even if u use the strongest of glues, thanks gaz
@@gaviscon4304 the heavy fluid/silicone ear plug definitely helps big-time 👀. Make sure to vent your tires with 3/16" holes and tape up the rim holes. 1 mil cst front controls diffing out while cornering which helps from blowing tires up. Same with 500k rear. 🍻😎💪👊👊

@@gaviscon4304 I have ran belted (and vented) Duratrax Six Packs X's and Lockups. Haven't tried the MX43's due to weight mostly. The Duratrax already add about 1.5lbs 👀. Heavy wheels take away agility, contribute to breakages, and add strain to driveshafts and electronics/gears. Some guys love them. Heavy wheels just aren't for me. 👍

@@dougk4071 I'm running Hobbystar 6s 5000mah 100C single hardpacks from RCJuice. I always cut off the loop connector and solder on a single EC5 off the ESC. Fits like a glove. Also always put a strip of yoga mat at the base of the battery tray for some shock absorption. 🍻

How are you temps? I have the exb kraton 8s and was thinking about running 32 /39 on the hobby star 980kv with a xmax heat sink. I don't like fans they break to easy from hard non stop bashing.
Hey Nick 🤗. My temps have been just fine running 32/39 with the 980kv 👍. Probably 150's tops on average. That's actually my goal temp with most all of my set-ups for maximum performance and efficiency. I don't like fans on my bashers either. They just can't take the pounding. 🍻😎💪👊👊

I see David’s truck is running a castle system. How does it compare with your setup?
David is running a Castle 8s ESC with Hobbywing 5687 1100kv motor and 34/47 gearing I think 🤔. It's super smooth and plenty fast 👀. Doesn't have the raw brute torque of my Hobbystar 980 56112 34/39 set-up, but he seems happy with it. I also ran that motor in my Kraton and M2C Crusher 8s SWB. Haven't tried the Castle 8s ESC myself. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Thanks so much Josh 🤗. Believe I've always used the high kv slider because I run smaller spur gears, either 34 or 39T. The issue with the large pinion/low kv setup is it was designed when ARRMA only had the stock 47T spur. When I wanted to run 34/34 gearing with my 840kv Hobbystar, I found I couldn't get the slide in far enough to mesh the gears. I really love them both Frank 🤗. They're to different too compare. The EXB is a must have in my book though 😍. It's the perfect size for all around high speed bashing. The O8s is better on gnarly big terrain and it's own rush though. More work and expense, but worth it in my opinion. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Nice. I'm about to go test my Outcast 8s with the XLX2 and 800kv motor 39/39 gearing. So the stock tires are taking that abuse well bud? My duratrax lockup x 24mm belted tires keep coming unglued with my max 5 1100kv motor 25/35 gearing on my xmaxx. I'll try the Outcast 8s tires on it. Hehe. That was tons of fun!
Thanks so much Brother 👊. Your O8s is gonna Rip 😱. I'd stick with a linear throttle curve with the Castle and go easy with the trigger 👍. Hopefully they'll sort out the bad units. Seen several turd out already 🤔. The O8s Backflips are super impressive 😱. Just make sure and vent them. Same with the belted Duratrax. I've had to reglue mine a few times. Scoring the beads and rims with sand paper and using AKA premium glue has been working for me. Looking forward to hearing feedback about your set-up 😱👍👍😎💪👊👊

@@richduperbash2966 I don't know Rich but I honestly think that my X-Maxx running the hobbywing max 5 and 1100kv motor with 25/35 gearing feels and looks so much more explosive. Maybe it's the gearing? Running 39/39 on the O8S and one of my O8S tires came unglued. That's why I'm using the 4.3 badlands on the xmaxx. Or maybe it's that 1100kv motor on the xmaxx and way less weight? Hehe. I mean, the O8S is not slow at all. I just feel that the xmaxx gets up to speed much faster. Maybe because I'm using 1.5 mod gears on the xmaxx? Hehe. I might try that 1100kv motor from castle once I find it.
@@joseCalderon1976 the weight savings of the XMaxx makes it more agile off the line, but the Outcast completely hauls ass when you can keep the nose down 🤣. The gearing and setup (and Lipos) makes all the difference. 800-1100kv is a great range. The 1100kv winds up wonderfully for top speeds. I always try to gear for about 55-60mph with good torque, usable power, and reasonable temps. That's plenty fast for bashing, especially for these big heavy rigs 😱.
@@richduperbash2966 I know right? Since I accelerate and stop pretty quickly I don't notice how fast the O8S really is. Unlike you that goes like a mile away 🤣. Honestly the stock system did very well but I do appreciate the extra torque and speed of the XLX2 and 800kv motor. More control in the air and more insane speed 🤣.
Hey rich! I’m looking at buying the 8s outcast exb roller. Not sure what motor to get. Speed is fun but also like torque and bashing. Should I go with the 800 or 1100?
I'd recommend the Hobbystar 56112 980kv paired with a Max5. 32/39 gearing for heavier wheels. You can run 34/39 with the original 8s Backflips no problem. The 800kv is better suited for the Kraton. 1100kv 5687 can work, but the 980kv is hands down the best set-up I've ever run on the O8s. Just realize the Hobbystar motors come with 8mm connectors. You have to solder on 6.5 to fit the Max5.🍻

Hey Brother 🤗. Most race rigs use heavier fluid in front (than rear) for better handling and overall control. I've found the same principal applies with bashers. The turning, drifting, and power delivery works best with more rear diff action. Makes the rig more predictable. You're also less likely to blow tires when going a bit heavier. Feel free to experiment, but using heavier front fluids (compared to rear) works nicely. 😎💪👊👊

Which is more durable, outcast 8s or xmaxx?
That's tough to answer because both are very durable, but can have breakages too of course 🤔. The Outcast definitely has better gears/diffs and handles better. The XMaxx is noticably lighter though and that helps overall durability, especially when you screw up badly 😱🤣🤣. They're designed so differently 🤔. Both benefit greatly from strength upgrades. 😎💪👊👊
