Also super proud of viivi for writing such a mature song after releasing an album mostly about break ups. the last lyrics: "And if you have to see it one day When the memories in my head disappear Know, in my heart I will always be with you" that bit breaks me crying haha. I'd be happy to see her shine at eurovision stage but we got 3 more songs to go!

The live performance will decide the fate of this song. A lot of people were going to vote for Sara Siipola, most people thought it was going to be an easy win, but the live vocals were not perfect and it broke the magic. Ballads are tough that way.
Ye exactly. Lot of "Paskana" fans who were bitter that Siipola got 2nd place clearly werent paying enough attention to her live performance, which wasnt as strong as ppl expected it to be. Viivi usually is strong performing live, but even then I find it hard to see Finns voting ballad to Eurovision because lot of ppl simply dont care/like these kind of songs and unfortunately think they are boring while others ofc dont have much faith in Finnish ballad doing well and thus will vote for something else.

Usually I'm super anxious over ballads in UMK (if I like the ballad, obviously), cause I want them to do well, but UMK is a tough crowd for ballads, and the televote accentuates it further. However, with Viivi, I am not even a little bit worried, cause for once it doesn't matter if she wins the competition or crashes and burns, as she has an evergreen on her hands. It has such a beautiful, slightly melancholic melody, the words are lovely but not saccharine, and her performance is restrained, yet you feel the emotion behind it. This is basically cryptonite for Finns. This may not be enough to win UMK (Finns prefer louder & heavier stuff, after all), but I can almost guarantee that this will be a sleeper hit. It will get regular airplay on radio for years to come, and as long as Viivi continues to perfom live, "Aina" will be on her set list, even in 20 or 30 years from now, and the audience will fall in love with it (and her) every single time.
She looks lovely, she has a lovely voice with good pipes and she's a natural in front of the camera. In her mouth Finnish sounds absolutely beautiful and one wouldn't want any other language. What I miss is a slightly more catching melody. With this song, she's almost there. Almost but not quite. Perhaps a subtle revamp? There is enough time and it could make a real difference.

So it makes me think she isn't even aiming for Eurovision xd Which is sad cause her voice could sing amazing power ballads.

What I really like about this song is the progression of her voice. In the beginning, it feels so brittle and vulnerable - quite different from the strength shown later. At the moment, Neea and Viivi are my favourites followed by Nelli and Costee. All songs so far are good!

But by the midway of the song, it had bought me over. The end, powerful, and what really got me off guard was the end. Lyrics. Lyrically the song seems to be very romantic, maybe a little over the top, but there is a touch of sincereity and purity in the ethereality and softness. In the end in the lyrics the text takes you further in this romantic scenery but there is also an ugly truth about life: in the song she will remember the loved ones with her heart if she loses her memory (Alzheimer). In reality Alzheimer will take everything away. I just started crying in the end, when actually the reality does not meet with the idealistic, pure, innocent wish of a love of the lifetime... well, maybe in movies and very few relationships, but...

I think this could be the best ballad in modern UMK or all time. Kelle mä soitan might still be my favorite. Also Paskana failed to win because vocals were not good enough, but Viivi has performed live on television already and her vocals are good. Not the usual "smooth ballad vocals", but she has some raspiness and raw emotion sounding voice while singing live (which might be more interesting to average finnish people than "pure smooth ballad vocals".). But i still think the next 3 songs has the winner one. Puppy could be either new megawinner or overly weird one that might not win (hopefully either so good that it deserves to win, or so bad that my fellow Finns do not vote for it just to send another funny song 😅). Goldielocks could be a surprise, very unknown artist but seems to have some unique aspects. And Erika is probably going to have good song, but there is chance the song is not "enough" good for Finnish people as it will be compared to Cicciolina.

I must say it irks me a bit to use Paskana as an example that ballad cannot win televote - I actually think Paskana, if any, had an excellent chance to win. The hype was real, and i was one of those who walked to the screening very confident that my vote will go to Paskana. But then the live performance fell flat. She was no means terrible - but a ballad that depends on singing performance needs to be executed to the perfection. Other type of performances are much more forgiving for the vocal part. The vocals were lacking a bit and stage presence was not there (which is completely understandable, she was a new artist and it's natural your nerves might get the better of you! It happened even to Sini who has been in the industry for long). The little boost she could have get from staging unfortunately betrayed her - it may have looked good from the stage audience, but for home screens it was messy and dark (not in a good way). It must be remembered that only a fraction of umk viewers actually bother to see music videos or listen to the studio versions before final. So for majority of voters that was the first touch, and it was underwhelming. There came W95, who had a fun catchy song and over-the-top show that was perfectly executed. I unwillingly enjoyed it immensely, lol. I felt so dumbfounded that i didn't actually vote at all that year😅 But i completely understand why things went as they did with Paskana. BUT I think this gets my hopes up that we actually will send amazing ballad some year! If a song gets similar hype as Paskana, and manages to slay in the final, there is a true chance to win. It is not just jokes and metal :D

A lot of Finnish people have really seemed to like this and I can't escape people saying they cried when they first heard it. As a Finn it's my least favourite song so far, and the more Finnish people hype it up the more confused I am because to me it's a very clichéd and not even very interesting as a ballad. I really, really don't want this to win UMK but if it does, I will of course root for her at eurovision

Sorry, while I love a good power ballad, I didn't find this one catchy and it didn't hook me enough musically. Again the lyrics are beautiful but sonically I found it boring even though I wanted to like it. I'm sure this song will do well as a wedding song in the domestic market but not for ESC. It's not a strong enough ballad to stand out in the mix. So far this year has been weaker than last year. Guess I have to wait for Vikman.

The hype was real, and i was one of those who walked to the screening very confident that my vote will go to Paskana. But then the live performance fell flat. She was no means terrible - but a ballad that depends on singing performance needs to be executed to the perfection. Other type of performances are much more forgiving for the vocal part. The vocals were lacking a bit and stage presence was not there (which is completely understandable, she was a new artist and it's natural your nerves might get the better of you! It happened even to Sini who has been in the industry for long). The little boost she could have get from staging unfortunately betrayed her - it may have looked good from the stage audience, but for home screens it was messy and dark (not in a good way). It must be remembered that only a fraction of umk viewers actually bother to see music videos or listen to the studio versions before final. So for majority of voters that was the first touch, and it was underwhelming. There came W95, who had a fun catchy song and over-the-top show that was perfectly executed. I unwillingly enjoyed it immensely, lol. I felt so dumbfounded that i didn't actually vote at all that year😅 But i completely understand why things went as they did with Paskana.
BUT I think this gets my hopes up that we actually will send amazing ballad some year! If a song gets similar hype as Paskana, and manages to slay in the final, there is a true chance to win. It is not just jokes and metal :D

Super pretty. Lovely in Finnish. No notes. Other than this is, as your guy said, a song to slow dance and cry to at a Finnish wedding which perhaps isn't quite the same audience as Eurovision. Stranger things have happened than this being top 10 though!
A lot of Finnish people have really seemed to like this and I can't escape people saying they cried when they first heard it. As a Finn it's my least favourite song so far, and the more Finnish people hype it up the more confused I am because to me it's a very clichéd and not even very interesting as a ballad. I really, really don't want this to win UMK but if it does, I will of course root for her at eurovision

@@omanmcWhile I find the lyrics beautiful, but only hardcore esc fans will know about it. It won't translate to general esc fans because who looks up lyrics and the meaning of the song night of? Musically it isn't strong enough. I'm a ballad person but I found this a little boring.

I think for this to win it needs to be placed far away from nelli in the running order and from the looks of it near one morning left , this needs to stand out to sway the public

Sorry, while I love a good power ballad, I didn't find this one catchy and it didn't hook me enough musically. Again the lyrics are beautiful but sonically I found it boring even though I wanted to like it. I'm sure this song will do well as a wedding song in the domestic market but not for ESC. It's not a strong enough ballad to stand out in the mix. So far this year has been weaker than last year. Guess I have to wait for Vikman.
It's super generic and I find it kind of boring. Ballads need something in them and this feels like something I've heard a 100 times before
