  • AIACA initiated a project in Varanasi in 2015 with small and medium level handloom weavers with the objective of organizing them into a collective, strengthening their negotiation power and developing entrepreneurship among the wage earners through capacity building and access to information. Today there is a registered business hub owned by the weavers called the Varanasi Weavers and Artisans Society (aka Varanasi Weavers Hub). Now we are on a journey to make this Hub independent through market expansion, collaboration and partnerships.
This film has been done by a young professional film maker and his team.
    Credits:
Indraneel Lahiri (Director); Kush Badhwar & Indraneel Lahiri (Cinematography & Location Sound recording; Lipika Singh Darai (Editing & Sound Post).
    Thank you for watching.

Good work done by aiaca and Varanasi Weavers Hub . As a customer l want the biggest proportion of my money reach to the original weaver rather than any middle men .

We wear sarees, not knowing who made them how much work they accumulated their life for them. I really appreciate these artisan for their dedication, hard work, and responsibilities they take to ensure that they make something beautiful for us to wear.

I cannot wait to support their craft. I got so emotional seeing how much craft they have and still live in poverty :( it’s so sad india still does not have minimum wage concept. I definitely will buy from you and support this initiative

They also need a platform to sell their products to buyers directly. They need exposure to market.
