    Weigh your food before you dehydrate it then again after, for every 1g of weight loss you will need 1ml of water to rehydrate.

    • @robertmaldonado1845
      @robertmaldonado1845 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to carry the water anyway since we need water to survive and especially when we’re in conditions, such as backpacking where we’re using more energy than usual so it’s already important to have an abundance of water. Either way. Additionally, with dehydrated food, you can fit more into serving bags so to carry the same amount of food. you need less baggage

    • @ReyOfLight
      @ReyOfLight ปีที่แล้ว

      Seeing people need to carry water for drinking anyways and often filter water on the go, carrying dry food and rehydrating it on the go weighs less than having to carry the food wet and still having to carry water to drink. Dehydrated food also lasts a lot longer and if stored right, can stay good for a very long time without spoiling, all while wet food would need to be stored cold and would then still only be good for some days vs having a shelflife of many months or even years in a dehydrated state

      Consider drying berries, black, straw, rasp, or banana slices, apples, pineapple . Make that your candy. With dome almonds or coconut powder or dried. Any sugar is breaking of all the vitamins and minerals in your foidplan, thus not allowing full absorption of vital elements. Be gentle with your dentistbills too.

      Dehydrators do not run at a very high wattage, also, you are forgetting that at home, people can run things like a dehydrator on solar that they have to power their home already, where as on the trail, cooking, fuel and weight are at a premium.

    Doesn’t the parchment kinda defeat the purpose? lol people do that with air fryers too, and again…. The whole point is air circulation

    Ok maybe this is a stupid question. But why do you have to cook and dehydrate the noodles?

      It speeds up the process. You can also “cook” pasta with lukewarm water this way… or just throw water in there if you’re lazy.

      Raw pasta is not the same as cooked and dehydrated. Rehydrating (and heating) cooked food is faster and requires less fuel and water than cooking it would and it also allows for cold soaking if wanting to save even more fuel. With everytbing already being cooked and ready to eat before being dehydrated, all it needs to be consumed is to be reconstituted with a bit of water

      BPA free or Stainless Steel. Size depends on how much you Think you will use it. I bought one that I can add additional trays to. I also bought the silicone trays for dehydrating eggs and other runny items.
      You can also use your dehydrator to make Dog Biscuits!, herbs for teas and cooking. While you are at it, you should get a couple books on dehydrating. Also watch a few videos on TH-cam on dehydrating, Rain Country is a good channel, Rose Red Homestead is another. Use your search engine! GOD bless

    • @TheDinkybird92

      The noodles are raw. They're dehydrating cooked noodles to save on cooking time. 3 minutes to rehydrate vs 8 minutes to cook

    why dehydrate noodles or rice? just make the meat and sauce and dehydrate that and make the noodles or rice fresh as have a natural long shelf life.
