But it is somewhat heartening that the quality of music even nowadays has not that much come down altogether still generally, giving some hope that it may regain its original glory slowly. Some capable youngsters too, with their good knowledge and imagination are shining in Film music now also. However, it is agreed that some people are unable to bind audience due to incorrect spellings/diction and they are simply chanting instead of singing in enchanting ways, thus failing in their efforts to make the audience spellbound. Rather sometimes it is more a speech with less music nuances. How beautifully, it is acted by Sri Sivaji Ganesan, every little detail in singing is so beautifully enacted by Sivaji Ganesan, as if he is the singer. On top of that, it is a very Carnatic style of singing with Improvisations, not easy to lip sync. Great.

Classic month recommendation “Thillana Mohanabal”. One of the greatest movies made about two people, their love and art. Sivaji and Padmini - past their prime - but it was a movie only those two could have pulled off. La la land will be a far cry compared to it I really hope you get to watch it.
This movie is a MasterPiece. When i was a kid, my parents use have recorded tapes (only Audio) of this movie and being heard it over multiple times. And then when i saw it in TV for the first time, i was jawsdropped (i had seen Godfather before seeing Thiruvillaiyadal), this was my best movie of all time from India for its Story on Mythological, Acting from Sivaji ayya donning all the different roles, the Sets, Culture, Grandeur, Songs and many more.
Finally finally. He is not revered in Tamil Nadu alone but was also respected by contemporary actors in other languages. When some of his films were remade in hindhi even actors like Dilip and Ashok Kumar refused to do them saying they can't do them like Sivaji sir did. Even when Sanjeev Kumar a very good actor did the remake of Navarathri it was a pale comparison to what Sivaji sir did in the original. As someone else gave a list of his films to watch there are more gems of his repertoire. paalum pazhamumm. He acted in nine characters in Navarathri three characters in many films. He portrayed those roles with distinct body language from each other. This song should have been watched with subtitles. You would have enjoyed it more. And T.M.S and SIVAJI are a magic combination along with music directors like K.V. Mahadevan and M S.Viswanathan. a very glorious past indeed. And still present in our hearts and lives.

I don't think anyone in Indian cinema (yes, all of Indian cinema) that would dispute his acting chops. , He does overact in some movies (coming from a theatre background) but he is a joy to watch in so many movies. Thiruvilayadal was my favourite when I was a kid along with Maya Bazaar. But might be a tad bit too mythological but you should definitely check it out if you get the chance. My recommendation would be "Thillana Mohanambal" or one of his contemporary movies "Mudal Mariyadai". Thillana Mohanambal with Padmini is absolute masala entertainer and he is a musician in it. And TMS is a legendary singer - you should definitely explore his music during classic month.

It is simply a master piece of cinema and a lesson in acting. Sivaji Ganeshan was an actors actor. You should deffenitely give this movie a try.
You guys should definitely watch this movie. Even there's more to this scene. After the entitled singer got shook by His singing, he realizes he was not the greatest artist as he thought and his pride was destroyed. When he asks Shiva about Him, He says that he was a viragu vetti (a person who sell wood logs) and he 'humbly' asks sorry if he was disturbed by His 'screaming and shouting' (that because of the annoying mosquitos he couldn't sleep), just to intimidate him even some more. 😄 He does this simply to help his follower who was supposed to compete with the entitled singer the next morning.

In my opinion it's a must watch and I'd say if not the best Kamal Hassan movie till date (excluding the comedy movies ones) its on par with VIRUMANDI and HEY RAM.

Classic month recommendation “Thillana Mohanabal”. One of the greatest movies made about two people, their love and art. Sivaji and Padmini - past their prime - but it was a movie only those two could have pulled off. La la land will be a far cry compared to it I really hope you get to watch it.
This movie is a MasterPiece. When i was a kid, my parents use have recorded tapes (only Audio) of this movie and being heard it over multiple times. And then when i saw it in TV for the first time, i was jawsdropped (i had seen Godfather before seeing Thiruvillaiyadal), this was my best movie of all time from India for its Story on Mythological, Acting from Sivaji ayya donning all the different roles, the Sets, Culture, Grandeur, Songs and many more.
Finally finally. He is not revered in Tamil Nadu alone but was also respected by contemporary actors in other languages. When some of his films were remade in hindhi even actors like Dilip and Ashok Kumar refused to do them saying they can't do them like Sivaji sir did. Even when Sanjeev Kumar a very good actor did the remake of Navarathri it was a pale comparison to what Sivaji sir did in the original.
As someone else gave a list of his films to watch there are more gems of his repertoire. paalum pazhamumm. He acted in nine characters in Navarathri three characters in many films. He portrayed those roles with distinct body language from each other.
This song should have been watched with subtitles. You would have enjoyed it more. And T.M.S and SIVAJI are a magic combination along with music directors like K.V. Mahadevan and M S.Viswanathan. a very glorious past indeed. And still present in our hearts and lives.

Please do watch his movies! I don't think anyone in Indian cinema (yes, all of Indian cinema) that would dispute his acting chops. , He does overact in some movies (coming from a theatre background) but he is a joy to watch in so many movies. Thiruvilayadal was my favourite when I was a kid along with Maya Bazaar. But might be a tad bit too mythological but you should definitely check it out if you get the chance.
My recommendation would be "Thillana Mohanambal" or one of his contemporary movies "Mudal Mariyadai". Thillana Mohanambal with Padmini is absolute masala entertainer and he is a musician in it. And TMS is a legendary singer - you should definitely explore his music during classic month.

You guys should definitely watch this movie. Even there's more to this scene. After the entitled singer got shook by His singing, he realizes he was not the greatest artist as he thought and his pride was destroyed. When he asks Shiva about Him, He says that he was a viragu vetti (a person who sell wood logs) and he 'humbly' asks sorry if he was disturbed by His 'screaming and shouting' (that because of the annoying mosquitos he couldn't sleep), just to intimidate him even some more. 😄
He does this simply to help his follower who was supposed to compete with the entitled singer the next morning.

watch THEVAR MAGAN, movie with Kamal Hassan and Shivaji Ganesan. One of the best Indian (tamil) movies of all time. They play the father son duo, and the story is by Kamal and music by raja sir. In my opinion it's a must watch and I'd say if not the best Kamal Hassan movie till date (excluding the comedy movies ones) its on par with VIRUMANDI and HEY RAM.
