- I'm Raxxanterax and I make Build Guides, Leveling Guides, Tier Lists and More for Diablo 4, Last Epoch, Path of Exile and Path of Exile 2. Got a Barbarian to level 100 yeserday on Hardcore. The Dust Devils build feels even stronger than the Minion Necromancer and Frozen Orb Sorcerer. I can't imagine how strong it can get in endgame with perfect Legendary Aspects and Unique Items.

Thank you so much for being so good at breaking concepts down to like a 5 year old's level and still manage to not be the least bit condescending. That's a talent.
Rather than tempering damage while close, you can also temper damage while berserking. The double swing variant has essentially 100% uptime while berserking, and having >300% damage while berzerking has a synergistic effect with the “blood rage” paragon node, to give you an extra 30% multiplicative damage.
(Shout out to rob for pointing that out in his videos on this build)
the berserking category only has 3 choices. I spend all my rolls and only getting damage when wrath of the berserker is active.
Exactly what i wanted to ask about. Why should we pick close dmg over berserking dmg?
@@Asocialovo you shouldn't. zerker dmg all the way
I’ve got dmg while berserking in every slot except amulet. My dust devils are averaging 500k dmg, not too happy with the damage output yet, wondering if I need to go more into dust devil size and see if ramaladini’s works with them
If you guys get lucky for an Uber n get starless, you can essentially have almost infinite resource n can literally roll for more Damage on everything. Rn I’m sitting close to 900k crit b about ~250vul damage n which I never have an issue w fury. I just need the fury generation on the chest. So I can have passive fury gen.
Been using this guide and I've been having a blast
I agree, it's so much fun.
Thanks Rax, I love these early season 'Great Build' guides. You sis one on Ball lightning in S2 and I immediately switched to it. In S3 Wudijo did one on the Charge Barbarian and it was the most fun build ever. Great job with your explanations, also.
Thanks for making these dude. I tried Barb out this season and have been having a ton of fun without even remotely optimizing things
I love the way you provide information; calm and serious without any fake expressions.
I really like how you break it down and talk through the written guides. I use maxroll for all my builds and help a friend of mine on her first journey into Diablo and there are always little parts that I don’t totally understand as I blindly follow the guide. Maybe you could make it a series to talk through and explain the strongest build guides??
D4 S4 feels good, from leveling, boss farming, and the pit. Bravo Blizz!
Barb mains stand up!
like every single season so far ;)

Barb power
RAHHHH
Barb is the best
Raxx...you are the man! I was trying to do this build on my own and I was really struggling with fury generation. I wasn't having fun so I decided to park my barb and hop on YT and check out what was good. I found this vid and it has been an absolute game changer. Your tips on everything have helped me so much that now I just walk through everything. Literally. This is the most fun I've had playing D4. Thank you!
My favorite part of this build isn’t even the Dust Devils- it’s the Ancestral Charge aspect, battering into a full screen of enemies and exploding them all
I like ancestral charge + brawlers, just blows up all the trash
Sooo satisfying
@@Terracronz charge the trash into elites and it blows them up in 1 shot. so fun.
Where are you fitting Ancestral charge into the gear?
@@Mexicannasa I put that aspect in one of my rings.
Thanks so much for all you content I love how you show what you use at the start and not a min maxed end game build. It’s great when you go in to the details and explain everything so we have an understanding of what every thing is and why we have it. Thanks so much and keep up the amazing work.
Definitely gonna make this build now that I have my necro at level 100. Thanks for the video again
Make sure to wash the ball sweat off your gaming chair
This is actually one that I want to try eventually. This is awesome.
Started off the season as this build and its just soo satisfying
Dam, thats beautiful.. Great video Rax. Your class vids are top notch.
I love this build, it's so much fun. The last time i had so much fun with a build was back in season 2 with the Ball Lightning Sorc. Awesome!!
S2 Ball lightning sorc was a special moment for sure
Glad you agree! i decided to try out Barb since ive never played it. And once it starts ramping, it REALLY starts ramping
Tried a necromancer and have never been so bored but this build is unreal fun and got me to play more, good job!
Exactly what I ended up doing. Started Necro, really boring gameplay - switched to Barb DD = INSTANT FUN
Exactly what i neeeded, when i needed it. Just reached lvl 51 and my first rune slot.
Thank you for the in depth discussion here. I missed the temper discussion and that's what I needed to see in this video! Trying the changes and I'll report back :)
Just died at lvl 72 with this build. It's so GD fun that I immediately rolled another barb! Thanks!
Great in-depth guide, nice job Rex!
I've enjoyed this build even though I'm not close to geared, played HC first time last season and started with HC only this season. I killed my first barb on wt3 at 41 going too ham but had the damage. Just leveled second one to 49 or so gonna take on wt3 again on days off. Looking forward to destroying with double swing again. S3 double swing was my main barb on softcore. Love the content and explanation of build Raxx, ty.
Great video man I quit playing necro at lvl 75 to switch to a barb. I'm glad I went with dust devil build. Only level 55 but it's going to suit my playstyle so much more.
I accidently made a build with DS DD based on the drops I got. Looked up a guide later and this build rocks. So much fun
Great video man! This is the build I’m working on and I absolutely love it and I’m just a newbie. Now I regret missing seasons 1-3. Keep up the good content!
Season 1 to 2 was o
Pretty shit, you lost nothing
This is what I was looking for! thanks!
never played barb in d4 all seasons necro & druid, but this one looked so amazing in your stream . i just started one 2 h ago and it is allrdy 46 . what a fckn blast. gone to t3 with 32 kind of unreal xD
So happy for this, tried my first minion necro and I just need some ground and pound barb action! Let’s gooooo!!!!
Same! Had been playing mainly Rogue since the start of the game because it is just my kind of class. Was already great trying out Necro this season but it is the complete opposite of Rogue because you actually don't need to do anything than moving you character. Barb next. Then Sorc probably.
I was leveling with upheavel and got some good legos. Changed to this build near 50 and man... fun fun fun and powerful!!! Thank you Raxx!
Same i had to wait till late 70s to get the double swing aspect that is needed for this build and i love it
Thank you so much dude!! I've wanted to make this build, but other videos don't go into the explanation of why we use certain skills or nodes as you do. As a guy that can't play that much this really helps. Thanks bro!!
Started this build early this week and can confirm it’s a ton of fun and strong.
This is the build I have been playing since the start of the season. I'm so glad raxx is using it I knew he would have fun with it
I didnt pay much attention to the season changes prior, but my barb was a little slow to start, but following the guide, getting the 2 of the dust devil aspects, my guy started moving really good. fun build for sure, love the mobility and speed, once the fury issue gets handled.
I started the season with this build. This is my first time playing Barb. It's great. Loving it so far.
I've been using this build guide so far this season and it rocks pretty dang hard. And the best part of it is that I don't have a SINGLE one of the Uniques from this guide. And it doesn't matter. You still just blast through everything with just the basic levels of MOST of the Legendary Powers. You don't even need all of them.
Thats basically true for almost every build in Season4 ;)
another godly guide, thanks raxx
I'm in the early stages of DD whirlwind but this video is making me want to switch to this. Thanks for the guide!
Hey Raxx, thanks for this! Question: did you level up this Barb as an alt, or did you work with the season journey reward of Devilish?
Got my necro to 100 last night and was thinking about trying a barb when this video popped up in my notifications this morning. I randomly got a Dust Devil's polearm drop from the Blood Maiden, so I swapped to Whirlwind and now I'm having a blast tearing through helltides. Looking forward to seeing what this character can do at higher levels
Was leveling the 🥶 Sorc but it felt limited. Gonna try this. Thank you.
You've sold me on it, Brother.
Been playing the MaxR Pen Shot Rogue and while it's super fun and powerful, my old fingers ain't really built for the Typing Dex Check that build is lol.
And super nice to hear sometime about Barb that isn't "nerfs nerfs nerfs"!
Playing this game makes my hands hurt like hell
I love how you makes videos and guides for the majority of classes and don’t just cover/stick to one. Super helpful and very well explained 🙏🏾
I was watching you outperform my level 100 Frozen Orb Sorc (only missing unique amulet for 95% perfect build) at level 58 LOL. This build is insane.
Been a Necro main this whole time.. then pow!! You came up with this barb build, so I took the bait and 12 hours later I have a new lease on life when it comes to D4. The in your face and punch you in the mouth style is what I was missing this whole time. Thanks for the insight brother
Thanks again for your great content 👍🏼
Been following this build guide and have it going pretty well and it’s so effing fun to play lmao
I also am experimenting with this build. It's great. As for the Blood Rage node (at 13:00), you don't have to Men in Black erase the bleeding part from your memory if you pick-ul pe "Tough as Nails" skill (sacrifice 2 from Leap if you're comfortable) and it ensures that enemies bleed for 5 seconds after they hit you. But I don't know if you really need that extra Berserking or if by the end you get enough from other sources. So the build DOES have access to Bleeding if you care about that first part of the node. It's just 2 skill points.
Edit: Since you're using Lunging strike, there's the skill to make enemies bleed on hit (but since you mostly use it for gap closers and not that often elsewhere it may not be viable). So just swapping out this skill means you won't need to take any points out from Leap.
Lunging Strike proccing the Decimator buff on bosses through bleed is great. I agree. In speedfarming context not so important.
I started out as a Druid during pre S1 then completely stopped. So I tried doing necro minions now on S4 managed to complete the build-“ish” but it kind didnt click with me. Gonna definitely try this been wanting to do barb since s2. Thanks for the guide Raxx!
Great video Raxx.
that's awesome, I'm not so much of a meta guy so I'm trying to make a dust devil with frenzy+double swing, so I get a ton of attack speed from battle trance, and when Im using frenzy I'm spawning dust devils with the fury generation, when it's full I'll spend with double swing and so on, I just love frenzy and am trying to make it work 😅
I made one today. Thanks, Raxx!
I've been running the WW twister build and was planning on putting this together for pushing now I gotta do it
This build is sick, thanks for sharing.
Those boots are so incredible for this build. Just permanent rallying cry is so nice
Hello great video do I follow your advice or the max roll?
thanks for the guide Raxx and Snail! i just wish there was a demo without holy bolts
I went the WW Twister route and been destroying NMD so far. Cleared a 76 just now at level 84 with one death, that I could have avoided, but I looked away from the screen. Been having a lotta fun so far!
I’m gonna give it a try, I never really messed with double swing in previous seasons.
If you want to have bleed as well for this build you can slot in berserk ripping aspect somewhere. we're always berserking so basically any hit bleeds.
This build is absolutely amazing. I just got Tibs Will and Tusk helm so I made my own version of it since I don't like copy and pasting builds. I Double Swing, 3 Shouts, Wrath and Charge. Aspects I go Ancestral Charge + Brawling to absolutely blow up packs. Dust Devil aspects everywhere I can and I actually kept Vocal Empowerment but I am yet to test using something else in its place. Now that I have tusk and Tib I will try replacing Vocal to see how bossing is on my fury. I still need Yens and Opus though... Dope video btw!
I created a similar build from the beginning, but with 1 defensive shout and with weapon change mastery. Whirl with bleed + weapon change triggered earthquake also (additional + 40 rage). It's a lot of fun to play, huge mobility, huge damage
Thanks a lot for this, as I started play D4 in this season, it is good. I know this is endgame, but should I spend gold and resources to have at least some legendary affixes during the leveling? I am apx. 55 level right now and at least every couple levels I am trying to get as many affixes as possible synced with the guide/best practises.
Thanks for the build its great. A question though: Vocalized Empowerment is swapped out for Earthquake once we have a good Fury per Second roll on our Chest Armor. Why is that, you are not using the Ground Stomp skill in the build. TIA for the reaction.
In my almost 20 years of playing Diablo, I have never played Barb. I decided to this season, went to maxroll and picked either this or thorns. I picked this one and love it. Barb is fun and this build just feels so great to play. The affix that makes charge explode enemies coupled with the Holy Bolt potion just annihilates trash mobs in one shot and it’s so satisfying.
Thanks for explaining all of the minutiae. Most guides I find seem like they’re made for veterans and not very new user friendly.
Dude you make some the best and easiest to understand videos. I think the redhead still might struggle with not focusing on the first sentence. Let's call it the FTL build. I played for maybe 2 hrs before this patch. I just pulled 27 hrs with 2-2 hour naps. I think that pretty much sums it up
Great video - thank you.
Barbarian for life! This build is so much fun!
Thanks for this. I had just got my Necro to 100 then saw this. Have been having a blast with this build now. It’s really a lot of fun. With all the changes they’ve made I’m genuinely enjoying D4 again. As always there’s a few minor niggles. But overwhelmingly I feel I am enjoying this now at least as much as POE. Getting what you need to build the core of what you want has never been eqsier and I really like that. Changing the Codex mechanic was one of the best things they did.
I have never seen someone use the word niggles before lol. It’s a funny sounding word but also is mad close to being inappropriate lol
I just love your build guide videos
Playing this build and it's just wow the damage and the speed is just amazing
You can get bleed if you switch and use the two-hand sword option for the Arsenal. Not really recommended that much but it does synergize with a number of "if enemy is bleeding" nodes in the paragon board as well. Is it better than the vulnerable damage from the two-hand axe? Probably not.
That said, I will be trying this build later, I leveled and mostly played as a whirlwind but felt it was lacking when it came to bossing.
Thank you for this!
that looks fast as hell and mega powerful!
I just made my barb today and I did the 1st capstone at 35 and the 2nd capstone at 47 with very little issue except for casters…love this build so far, I stopped playing my 90 necro for this build so far.
For a source of bleed you can take the power that converts your damage while Berserking to Bleed damage if you can fit. Another option is to run Two Handed Sword as your weapon technique, but you are sacrificing 10% Vulnerable damage. The third is to put one point into Outburst and Tough as Nails, which will convert 10% of your thorns damage to Bleed.
Might have to update my skill tree and paragon board to follow this guide and see what difference it makes. I'm following Robs version, very similar to the early endgame setup in this guide with the unique sword etc but I find myself extremely squishy.
Similarly to you Raxx, I am having a devil of a time trying to get the dust devil powers and am almost 50 and even w/o them, this build has been super strong.
I've been playing Bash Barb and the clear speed is insane on that too especially with the cdr from Hectic aspect but I'm really struggling with not dying. My armor is capped, my resistances are capped and I've got a bit of damage reduction from aspects/paragon/skill tree like in the maxroll guide but I'm still exploding so fast around pit level 50 and against uber lilith/the tier 200 bosses. any advice on that?
edit: I think I'm gonna try this build out, the damage reduction from Tibault's Will and the perma shout sounds nice
Whats hilarious is that this is literally the build I tried playing at launch. Double swing with the tornadoes and the whole leap quake synergy. It was pretty bad back then but it was fun. Eventually switched over to hota but glad to see more barb build variety this season. I started sorc but im not a huge fan. Going to switch over to barb and play this and probably a gen build.
I’m pretty new to Diablo, leveling a barb right now. Currently I’m at level 51 & in WT3. My question is, at what level do I start focusing on imprinting/farming gear for aspects? On that same token at what point do I start tempering/enchanting/master working my gear?
@Raxxanterax, quick question. Did you start with the double swing leveling guide or did you just follow the endgame build guide by Snail?
Really good explanations thank u
Fam d4 feels amazing this season. My shadow necro melts everything. Definitely gonna make an alt. Only played barbarian once and that was last season. I think I’m gonna make this too.
Been playing it since day one of the season. It’s a fun build to play. I need to refine the build now, but it still has me at Pit lvl50 with bad gear. I don’t have the uniques except for the boots. It’s a really fun build.
This is the most fun i have had with a diablo build ever
Hey! You mention the bleed damage not working in this build, does bleed from thorns not work with any bleed powers/paragons/afixes? Its only 2 points in the skill tree (tough as nails)
Nice walkthrough, and thanks for the reply in advance 😊
Following this guide as well. not sure if anyone can answer this question but i'm trying to decide if it's better to aim for damage vs close like the guide says or go damage while berserking. since we have pretty much 100% uptime on berserking wouldn't the damage boost to it paired with blood rage offer more overall damage then damage to close?
Hey, amazing guide! Can you provide some advice on what weapon to assign toLeap and Charge? I think that since we are using concussion perhaps we assign Leap and Charge to Two hended bludgeoning? Not sure. First time barb. Thanks in advance!
If you hover over the skill in the guide at the top it tells you
Absolutely loving this build but after seeing yours I'm confused! I'm following the max roll guide to a tee but maybe missing some crit(31%)and my sheet attack power is only 17431 with 1513str...compared to your 42k? any ideas on the differences? bit hard I know but any thoughts helpful. got all the affixes, uniques, followed the paragon board etc.
It has 12/12 mastercrating for everything I think which is probably abig difference
Funny, I have been considering creating a Barb, and just tonight got Yen's Blessing drop on my Necro, then saw this vid. Good thing I saved it. :)
I'm really struggling with Sorc right now. Is there anything you could recommend to have a build for bosses and pit?
Thanks man, going to try!
And... I think I'll try on hardcore. I've dabbled in hc a bit before, but always been kind of scared of it. On one hand hc is harder now since they removed the cheat death thing, but actually I think dying might be not as bad now because I'm pretty sure you keep all your mats, gold and tempering manuals right? Levels and base items are not that hard to get (well, until you hit endgame levels and are really optimizing).
Gonna make a hc barb now and call him Socrates...
I love my Necromancer, but! This build, I did create and have all the gear, and its amazing! So much fun!
Started Whirlwind barb, and switch to this, and this build is so crazy and strong
I was watching when Raxx switched to this build. I switched from Upheaval immediately and I was melting mobs in T41 at level 78 (but I was a bit squishy)
How do you get more tanky?
Would it perhaps be worth spending a single point on making Lunging Strike bleed so we can benefit fully from Blood Rage, Raxx?
Love the POE builds in the bookmark bar.
