    Well, human space travellers usually cheat using cryo, while as far as we know the covenant doesnt. So its no wonder that Johnson never looked older than 50. I'm more impressed by the fact that he took al those years at frontline so well. Remember that Johnson fought at the insurrection war as part of project ORION (SPARTAN I), was deployed at Harvest at the beginning of the covenant war, and never stopped fighting since then (he even abandoned hospitals before they finished patching him up).
    Chief, on the other hand, is more than 20 years younger and also was freezed most of the time while travelling between battles (like Johnson) since the start of the human-covenant war (he was 14 at that time), and he took it much worse. His voice almost sound broken. He and the other Spartans sould look at theyr late 20s at most but when you hear chief he sounds at least 10 years older than that.

    • @amdkillaplays
      @amdkillaplays 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      The Covenant didn't need cryo, their ships were fast and accurate enough in Slipspace that it wasn't needed. They also see their troops as more expendable than humanity does with theirs. Any ages calculated here will be from the year of their birth to either 2560 or the year of their death, so however long they were in cryo would have to be subtracted. If Lasky is still alive, then his age will be far more accurate due to less time spent in cryo than other unsc soldiers

    • @sevi117
      @sevi117 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      @@amdkillaplays yeah, I thought the same for the Covenant but didn't want to make the comment much longer. It must be difficult going back to civilian life for UNSC shipborne personnel. The more they stay in service the bigger the age gap with relatives and old friends. Seeing a younger brother becoming older than you must be hard to assume.

    • @cyqry
      @cyqry 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I think one thing worth noting here is that officers, especially high-ranking ones, are usually regarded as "essential" and so rarely get put into cryosleep with the exception of Captain Cutter because they had no real idea of how long the ship would be drifting. I think that Lord Hood, being the highest ranking flag officer of the UNSC Navy by Halo 2 at aged 62, would be essential enough for him to never be put on ice, and we see how old he looks in those... though I guess the stress of leading the war effort to prevent your own species genocide would probably age you terribly too.

  • @John2r1
    @John2r1 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +38

    We know that the Precursor made the Domain over 100 billion years prior to the current era. Thus the Precursor are older than the Domain. Meaning they predate the currently known universe. Just saying the Precursor are the oldest things in the universe . Granted they could just be a physical manifestation of the living universe itself. Which could explain how the Precursor can take on any form they see fit including non physical forms.

      You literally have no idea as to the context of those words. It's like guilty spark talking about how the ring has gone through multiple millions of simulated test firings. If this were true in the sense that he sat there and conducted test after test, it would take thousands of years to run those tests. By we know chips operate at many instructions per second so you could reasonably presume this was a programme of sorts. The precursors are just over ten millions years old.

Since we have no older race in the lore and since they are stated to have created the Domain. Making the Precursor in one form or another the oldest species in the universe.
      And the only logical way for them to have the abilities they have in lore is for them to be a manifestation of the living universe itself.

    The thing is, was Johnson 78 years old physically or in total time? Physically meaning the time his body actually aged, outside of cryosleep, total meaning the time from his birth to his death, including cryosleep. As a part of the military, he'd spend a LOT of time in cryo, so he could be 78 in total time but 40-50 in physical time.

    Before the Halo games began in 2552, Slipspace trips took months, if not years. As a result, crews spent large amounts of time frozen, temporarily arresting their natural aging. Therefore, if Cole spent a collective of 20 years frozen across his lifespan, his biological age would be 20 years younger than his chronological age.

    The dream: I was shopping in a Home Depot when some random guy told me I needed to start climbing and get outta sight, so I did. Got up on the top shelf and heard the storm going on below. Then I saw a flood spore beside me and squished it, then started freaking out cuz that would alert them I was there. Then I went up to a loft window that was up there (for some reason) and looked out at the park across the street, it too was getting overrun. A combat form dropped from the roof onto the balcony out the window, and I pushed it off. Then I was in the park, almost like a 3rd person fly by I guess....
    Yeah then real life summoned me and it's 3:45 am, just got off the phone with the cops, and I'm wondering how I'll get to work in a few hours lol

    Keep in mind that military personnel, and people that often travel in cryo, won't show their ages as much as frequent space travelers. But in 550 years, I don't see why people living more than a century will be as commonplace as it is to see 70 today.

    More humans in are modern area are living to be centurians. Take the technological advances in the haloverse it should be commonplace for humans to be a centurian if allowed natuarl devolpment. However with the Great War/Convenant War, and the events in infinite with Cartona EMP of the human colonies would drastically curve life expencey for humanity in unnatural ways.

    The Domain being older than the universe itself isn't actually that unbelievable.
    We know other universes exist in Halo.
    Because the Forerunners used newborn universes as a power source.
    This iirc was explained during the Forerunner Saga books.
    If newborn universes can be used as a power source then it stands to reason universes older than our own exist.
    Of course that begs the question of where The Domain originally comes from and that is a question that we simply can't answer as far as I know.

    I’m curious what your thoughts on Bladerunner replicants are if Engineers don’t count as biological organisms. I counted them, but that might be my own lack of understanding of their composition. I thought that them having free will and whatnot made them more likely, but that’s it’s own can of worms with AI involved.

    I believe I figured out of who in humans the geas of the Ur Didact belongs to. I was reading on the biography of the Forerunner on the wiki and found the term ‘star hopping’ used against humans. This aroused my curiosity as it reminded me of a piece of WW2 history so I clicked on the link and confirmed my suspicion. It was a reference to the Island Hopping tactic used in the pacific islands against the Japanese during WW2. So I was overviewing the personality of the Didact and concluded that the geas fits perfectly with American general Douglas MacArthur. Interesting if I say myself.

    Age is tricky, considering Time is a bit fucky in the Halo Universe. With beings unaffected by time and others manipulating it, heck even Humans trick their numerical Age with Cryo.
    And let's be honest, the Domain being older than it's "physical Manifestation" is just a fucky concept, because with the Neural Lace Humanity employs (The ones from the "Secret Super Humans" Video), they are also way older than their Time in our Universe shows. Heck, if we count that, the Flood again shoots up to Number one, considering the Amount of "Lifetimes" integrated inside the Gravemind, not even counting all of the Forerunner Biomass "Age" at their Prime.
    Not sure if Precursors acually have an Age / can die and those aren't just descendants of the first ones, so I'm not sure if that counts as "Oldest". So until we meet an Precursor actually older than the "Last Precursor"/Gravemind, the Gravemind will stay on top for me.

      @@antimatteranon So what created The Domain then? I thought the Precursors did. Because if The Domain is technically a “living machine” that would imply something made it right? Since it’s surprisingly older than the Precursors that would imply another alien race created The Domain right?

    17:30 Fake News, books aren’t canon. Especially these new age ones. Precursors are gone and 343 attempts to bring them back for their lack of creativity isn’t an excuse… any precursors still alive would be in corroboration of the gravemind, who stated as the last precursor, that he was the last precursor. Fuck that new light novel… stuff like that is why the halo story is a mess nowadays.
