This was the most concise explanation of Keepa I have ever seen. It was actually understandable. On a smart phone, can the different categories be turned on and off like you did here?
Hey, thank you for the information, it is very helpful, I have a question, at the bottom of the keepa there is the "satistic"- inside there is a word called drops and next to this A number, is this is the sales quantity of the product in one month?
I reached out to the Keepa team and that told me that drops is ONLY the number of times the sales rank drops... it doesn't equate to the number of sales, just the number of times the sales rank drops. On higher ranking items then it's probably closer to the number of sales, but on low ranking prices, it's not very accurate. It's just drops, not sales. I don't even pay attention to the number.
What program did you use to make this video? It’s great, especially the parts where it kind of zooms in to the side and bottom of the keepa chart. I’d love to record stuff using this program.
when researching products is it best to look at those within ones own market mostly or sometimes - what do you think? i am in the uk for example - thanks:)
Great video, thank you. I wanted to ask, I'm trying to see how a product does throughout the year but when I click sales rank it only shows the sales rank for this month and sometimes last month despite them selling for sometimes over 2 years, any idea why that is? in the same category for the U.S, U.K and Germany the Amazon basics version of the product is doing under 1000 bsr throughout the year, not sure if I should go with it.... 🤔
You can change the time frame of the data you see in one of the clickable options on the right side of the data chart. If there is no option for anything longer then it means that Keepa does not have the data for those months. You can also look on CamelCamelCamel to see if they have the tracking info about the item in question. Here is a video on how to read and understand CCC graphs: www.fulltimefba.com/readcamel
Great Video - Quick question - My Keepa is not showing sales rank doesn't matter if I look at it via their website or the chrome extension. It's and item that has been on Amazon for 975 days. Camel has rank but Keepa does no. Are there any settings that I need to turn off or on inside Keepa to see the Sales Rank?
1) What is a warehouse deal in Keepa and what is it's effect to OA? 2) What does it mean when there is no BB? 2) What does it mean when there is no Sales Rank?
It's an Amazon warehouse deal... meaning Amazon selling an item as "used" when it has a cosmetic ding or box damage but item is still essentially in new condition. No buy box means the lowest price for sale is probably way higher than the list price. No sales rank = no sales (ever - or in a loooong time). Also, some categories don't offer up sales ranks for the main category (Electronics, Amazon pantry, and others).
Does Keepa only apply to the USA or does it apply to the UK as well, since prices seem to be in US dollars? I have switched to the UK on the top right of Keepa website. Great video.
Here are my courses: www.fulltimefba.com/our-trainings. They all will pay for themselves FAST if you put them into action. Each one comes with a money back guarantee.
Sorry for the very basic question: when we talk about sales, does it reflect ALL sales or just Prime sales? In other words, if it reflects all sales, then the pricing strategy needs to take into account the total number of used offers, no? thx.
The sales on the charts are any sale... Amazon, 3rd party prime, 3rd party used, 3rd party collectible, amazon warehouse deals.... any sale. But most of the time it's either Amazon on 3rd party new.
Is there a rule of thumb for buying? Say an item sells for $40 should you try to buy at 1/4 of that $10 or below so you have room for shipping and amazon fba fees?
Buying decisions usually involve many different things other than the cost. You also want to look at how often the item sells compared to the ROI (return on investment). I'll take a lower ROI if the item sells super fast... and I'll want a higher ROI on items that sell slowly. I use Keepa and Camel to figure this out. For free training videos on how I find out how fast an item sells, check out www.fulltimefba.com/readcamel and www.fulltimefba.com/readkeepa
Go here (amzn.to/2m47rs9) and then you can click on a link to find the category you want to get approved in.. and they'll tell you what you need to get approved.
Is there a way to tell if a used version or a new version is selling well? For ex, if all buyers are only buying used, and not the new version of the same item? Thanks!
Great question! Right now there is not an easy way to tell if it was a used or new copy that sold... one method you can do is to follow a product page for a few days and compare the new and used count to see how many were sold that way... so no way to know for sure quickly, but if you have time to investigate, you can figure it would eventually.
What does the statistics bar thing mean that is below the graph. When I hover over it I can see how many of amazon / new / used were sold average per month. Is this accurate?
Assalamu Alaikum brother, I know that you left this comment 2 years ago. It's nice to see a brother who is into FBA. Your brother Abubakar from UK - London. I am doing FBA as well.
No. It's data history for sales and pricing for items currently on Amazon. It could help a PL seller to validate an idea by looking at sales rank and prices of similar items the PL seller is wanting to bring to the market.
You can't... the Amazon Seller App does not give links to Keepa. Sign up for InventoryLab (which comes with the sourcing app Scoutify) and you'll get easy links to Keepa graphs on your phone. I could not do my amazon business without that. Get a free month of InventoryLab (which includes Scoutify) here: www.fulltimefba.com/inventorylab
@@fulltimefba thanks I'll take advantage of that when I get a little more experience. I think you're in the same fb group I'm in, not sure though, Hustle Buddies.
What does it mean if camel camel camel shows something is out of stock, or states "we dont have enough data to chart, please check back later", under the price history tab...?
That means that CCC has not been tracking the item long enough to get the data for the graph. Usually this means it's a new ASIN and now that you tried to get the info, CCC will start tracking it.
Would you say it's worth a try to purchase an item that FBA shows as a profit maker, without seeing sales rank or current data? I found a couple of items at Walmart. One is a $30.00 money maker, but that one doesn't show me any rank at all.
Hello guys and thank you for your explanations. There is one thing I don't understand, Maybe you can help. when you click on statistics, there are lowest, current, highest average prices and drops. what is the drop? can you give an example Thanks
I think it means sales rank drops... so that means the item had that many sales rank drops in the time selected. A drop means at least one sale. The closer to #1, the more it means multiple sales. It's still kinda confusing sometimes.
There is no exact data on quantity sold shown on Keepa... any any other program that shows how many products have sold are ONLY estimates. Keepa shows the number of sales rank drops in their statistics tab, but that only means the number of times that the sales rank drops (which means AT LEAST one sale, but sometimes more. Hope this helps.
I never price a book above Amazon's new price listing, but how important is the list price? I notice that Keepa provides that. Is the list price a factor that should be considered in pricing, especially when Amazon's not on the listing?
The list price is really only there for reference. From a FBA seller's perspective, the list price is only important in regards for DVDs list priced over $25 as you need approval to sell DVDs with a list price over $25.
There are two options... You can access Keepa via a smartphone browser, but you'll have to enter in the UPC number or keywords to find the item... OR you can use an app like Scoutify which you can scan an item's barcode, and then click a link in the app to directly go to the Keepa graph and see the data. I use Keepa all the time via Scoutify. Scoutify comes bundled with InventoryLab for a reasonable monthly fee. Get one more free here: www.fulltimefba.com/inventorylsb
Search the UPC on Amazon, and the product it brings up will have an ASIN listed in the product details. If you don't see a product connected to the UPC on Amazon, then there is probably not an ASIN for that UPC right now. OR it's possible that Amazon is out of stock for that ASIN and will suppress the listing from the UPC search results. If that doesn't work, search the UPC in Seller Central under INVENTORY < ADD A PRODUCT. Hope this helps.
How can you tell what something has actually sold for? Sometimes I find items with a high selling price but when I ask people they tell me that by looking at the grap it has sold for way less. For example I find a book and it's selling for $200 on Amzon but it has never sold for that much? Idk if I make sence
There is no way to 100% know the price an item has sold for... but you can make a good guess by comparing the time that the sales rank jumped from a high number to a low number (that means at least 1 sale) and the price of the item at that moment. It's not exact, but pretty dang close.
As Stephen mentioned you can watch for sales rank drops = sales. Another method I corroborate with is "number of sellers" observed from the optional chart more history data. Typically a drop in # of sellers = completed sales. Note Amazon holds close to their chest actual sales data. All we can do is draw data from numerous feeds to complete a speculative story.
You make a good point on number of sellers dropping showing increased sales..i am soon to launch next month. Are you currently doing any OA or PL if you dont mind me asking
how can you tell if the item the sold was new or used? for example if an item sells new for £100 and used for £10. The item sells around 30 per month, but how do we know for what price? is it the new price or used price?
Unfortunately, neither CamelCamelCamel or Keepa can tell which item condition sold when there is a sale. If an item has many new and used offers, I usually (only based on experience and not any proof), that new items will sell 90% of the time and used 10%. This is true for most categories except books which I think are about 60% new and 40% used.
Update: CamelCamelCamel is no longer very good for Amazon sellers and Keepa is SO MUCH better to use as an Amazon seller. So ignore Camel and focus on Keepa. More on Keepa: www.fulltimefba.com/readkeepa

Nice video. Does FBA count as part of the Orange line or is it just Amazon.
FBA is part of the 3rd party marketplace... Only Amazon is the orange Amazon line.

Any time the sales rank number goes from a high number to a smaller number means at least one sale.

the rank is higher the better?
The lower the rank, the better. Think of it like #1 is the best. The top 10 are the best 10... so the lower the number, the better.
Thank you.
Give the date on which date it was relisted ✋ so we can new on which date it was on .
