    So, can we expect a special video where Ross tries to make Coke out of regular ingredients and chemicals, Smith makes a flushing toilet system out of pipes and ceramics, and Trott makes bean-bags? I would pay to watch that.

      Coca-Cola would be impossible for anyone else to recreate. They still use decocainified coca leaves as flavoring that the have exclusive rights to use in the U.S.

    Alimony is a payment to your former spouse if they are determined to, basically, not be able to live without your support post-divorce.
    Child support is payment to your former spouse if they make enough less money and were awarded the children's custody in settlement, to help the now-single parent to support them.

    • @Highyeena
      @Highyeena 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      lavafoxx
      especially when it's abused and, since the wife almost always gets the kids, it adds a double whammy (I don't actually know of a case in which the husband got alimony instead of the wife, though there probably is at least one)

    • @lavafoxx
      @lavafoxx 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some Hyena
      its called palimony (i think that is the spelling)

    • @Highyeena
      @Highyeena 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      lavafoxx
      Palimony is splitting everything owned in half between two non-formally-married parties, I thought? And only in certain states, and contingent on the two parties living together?

    • @Direwolf13PS3
      @Direwolf13PS3 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +lavafoxx To be honest so does child support, it takes 2 to tango.

    • @Highyeena
      @Highyeena 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Direwolf13PS3
      it doesn't rely on you living together, just being married. though, at the same time, if you're not living together and married then the children will be with whoever owns the house that they stayed in the majority of the time almost certainly.

      +Jackle Power (Destroyer of Fandoms) I was looking as well.
      Apparently Ubisoft announced that was a misunderstanding and they aren't actually scaling back the PC version, stating the PC version was "built from the ground up" from the beginning.
      I played the Beta on PC. Pretty solid game, honestly. Best with friends and in PVP. Although I'm a bit disappointed that I heard the world will indeed be smaller than people were hoping.

      allot of console gamers are more selfish with products, but they never complain when a game isn't put onto PC.
      they always complain when its not on their console tho.

    Also, 'rowboats and sails'
    I love how Smith totally underestimates what the Nordic Longship was capable of. It was the most advanced and revolutionary ship to touch the sea until the industrial age, SMIFFY

    • @xelgringoloco2
      @xelgringoloco2 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      +Eric L No it wasn't. There's now way you can tell me a Viking longship from the 11th century is better than a British Ship of the line from the 18th century. The latter was so much more advanced in every conceivable area.

    • @QaRajhCreations
      @QaRajhCreations 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Eric L Hence why the Vikings, despite only being around for about 3-400 years, were considered as the best at not only ship building, but also navigation and naval combat. The longship is essential to why the vikings so quickly became so great.

    • @TheAltoSaxophonist
      @TheAltoSaxophonist 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +xEl Gringo Loco Hence he used the word 'until'.

    • @xelgringoloco2

      TheAltoSaxophonist
      Until the industrial age he said. Ships of the line are pre-industrial.

    • @usha3938
      @usha3938 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Eric L it wasn't. just because a longship is more or less on the water as opposed to the ship of the line, which is in the water (don't know the English terms), which means it can traverse shallow waters, does not make it a "better" ship. the Ship of the line was definitely more advanced, which makes sense, since it came much later than the longship, but not neccesarily better. You can't reason that.

    I'm pretty sure one of the major reasons that McDonalds took off is that they applied manufacturing methods to their cooking, like by creating an assembly line. They also made sure that they were very consistent with their ingredients and cooking methods, so they get the same product every time, no matter where the product was created/purchased. Fun Fact: They also brought the market for artificial flavors into the main stream, because people wanted them to stop cooking fries in the burger grease, which they originally did. They used artificial flavors to keep the taste the same, without having to cook in the unhealthy grease. The familiarity of the same tasting product, wherever you went, is what made McDonalds so successfull.

    Leif Eirikson was born on Iceland. His father was Eirik "the Red" Þorvaldsson, who was born in Norway. HIS father, Þorvald Ásvaldsson, killed someone in Norway and was exiled to Iceland. Eirik ended up doing the same in Iceland and was also exiled, moving to and colonizing Greenland. Leif's expedition was based out of Iceland. Þ is pronounced "th" by the way. It's called a "thorn". It's similar to an Old English character that looked like "Y". That's why "Ye Olde..." is pronounced "The Old".

    Fast food didn't start with McDonalds, but they paired a simplified menu with a fast, assembly-line approach to make food quicker and cheaper than other restaurants. They weren't alone, but they made notable improvements in the speed of food prep that were later adopted by other restaurants.
    I'd word this question as "If you were suddenly and without prior warning thrown back in time to the year [insert year here], what invention would you introduce based on your current knowledge?" You should also be able to hire/partner with contemporary professionals to a reasonable extent. We'd also have to discuss whether you take the contents of your pocket or not, which could change things dramatically.

    The exiled viking warchief was Erik the Red, or Erik Kjonig. He created a settlement on Greenland (and named it so). Most people know of his son, Leif Eriksen(Erikson spelled incorectly at times). My family are the last remaining direct descendants of Erik the Red. By the way, Kjonig means The Red King.

    Alex said he wouldn't have to worry about the hardships of inventing the flushing toilet because he said he would use a plumbing system (of which implies there was technology before his invention), so if he can use technology that had come before it why can't Trott use the burger (of which had already been invented) to kick start McDonald's?

    Ray Kroc found a way to provide 15 cent burgers and still turn out a profit by buying McDonald's properties and essientally the corporation would act as land lord and charge rent from the restaurants business managers. On top of this rent, a percentage of all gross sales would be collected by Micky D. McDonald's is a real estate company for burger places.
