- A broken Social Link occurs when you see another girl (other than the one you're currently seeing) too many times and you answer incorrectly when drilled about it. A broken social link isn't too much different from a reversed one, the only difference being it's a tad bit more tedious to reconcile.
Persona 3 FES is an enhanced re-release of Persona 3 for the PlayStation 2. The English version contains both The Journey and The Answer, whereas the Japanese Append version contains only The Answer. The Journey is essentially a slightly-enhanced remake of the original Persona 3, while The Answer is an all-new epilogue that continues the story.

ditto. i never tempted fate as i said on one of your vids(i think it was the reversed arcana one) to ever see these events. well props to our P3 PC(player character), he get punished for womanizing. the dude at P5 gets the harem. Yu Narukami only get one puss but you can outright friendzone the rest. for me in both 3 and 4, its always gonna be Yukari and Yukiko. although both of them have different arcanas, yukari being a 05 - Lover and Yukiko being 02 - Priestess, i have a soft spot particularly to both of them. its like their the "right girl in a spice of life manga" kinda thing. ive read waaaay to many spice of life school manga now to know. and the way i see it, both yukari and yukiko gets the beautiful perfect girl out of the mangas. mitsuru is an ojou-sama and i dont have any inkling to her kind and i also dont like chie, being a tomboy in all(that means it also goes for naoto). as for the 03 - Empresses, the velvet sisters, well margaret is beautiful and elizabeth is such a cutie and falls into the "emotionless robotic girl" and i kinda have a soft spot for that too. if were talking seconds, maybe fuuka and rise wins(yeah their both scanners but their cute). good thing yukari doesnt have a yandere episodes and yukiko only have her laughing fits so yeah.

This is kinda what I don't like about the "Romance" in Persona 3. You can be just trying to build up your social links and then: *She would be unhappy if you went out with other women* Wait wait wait, I don't remember agreeing to anything. This basically turns all female relationships into a huge balancing act whether or not you're actually trying to romance them.
Biggest quality of life improvement for the series was allowing the difference between "I wanna hang out with friends" and "I want to go out with this one" as opposed to them being one in the same.

@@neochungus3686 In P3, that's actually not possible, since you HAVE to romance female S Links to continue them, that's not optional like P4 and P5. And certain personas like Orpheus Talos are locked behind having all Social Links done iirc, so...

It would’ve been nice to keep in some form but it was a little overbearing in 3. Characters getting mad because you also hang out with other people was a bit extreme. I like how 4 used them better personally.

I remember the last time I played this game while maxing out Yukari's social link, I encountered a problem. Before the final encounter I somehow accidently reversed the link but the game literally forgot to bloody tell me. I didn't know why I couldn't find her in the classroom until I checked the link status in the menu. I remember our last conversation before the reverse was when she invited me to go the mall and the game gave me the dialogue choice of something like "you look like a super hero," meaning she, for some reason, took offense to being called a super hero, to the degree that I had to take her to roof and ensure her things are fine. It's times like this that make you think Aigis is best girl.

Extremely late reply, but nope. There aren't any consequences to cheating at least in p3. Not talking to someone for too long or making wrong dialogue choices can end up breaking links.
Scerdofeb actually kinda yes, it seems like when seeing a girl like twice or three times will instantly reverse them. But since you can only get yukari after max charm one confrontation with her gets an instant unreverse

They do in 4 but not in 5 as I remember. Besides, in 5, the social links provides you special skills, so it'll be pretty bad to have broken social links in 5
Does fixing a broken social link would reset it to level 0 or 1, or would it continue with the last social link level before reversed/broken?

FES is Wayyyyy better than Portable! Idk why people keep swearing by portable, they cut all the anime scenes, there’s a cursor instead of a real person running around, and the characters in portable version looks like chibi. The only thing good was the female route.

How does this happen? I've never even heard of broken social links
For a Social Link to break it needs to be Reversed first. Reversing a Social Link can occur in two different ways (as far as I know). One is by ignoring the Social Link for a long time. Non-romantic S. Links reverse after 90 days of inactivity and romantic S.Links after 40 days (I think). In both P3 and P3FES, romantic S. Links have a " jealousy " mechanic which means if you go romantic with said S.Link and spend time with a different S. Link that could also turn romantic then you'll have a minus 15 days on the 40-day limit of the Link you got romantic with every time you do this until the countdown hits zero and the S. Link Reverses. This " jealousy " mechanic was removed in P3P, which made a max S. Links run on the first playthrough a bit easier.
The second way of reversing a S. Link is by choosing an awful dialogue choice. That's an instant Reverse so, be cautious.
If a Reversed S. Link is left unattended for a while or if you say the wrong thing in those " unavoidable confrontations " ( as it's shown in the video ) the S. Link will Break. Which means you won't be able to fuse/summon any Personas of the Arcana that was represented by the Link you just broke until it's " mended ".
And that's how it works, basically.

wait, is this even inherently possible? played persona 3 fes and p3p at least a bazillion times but you can only stop at rank 5 (or 6?) with a female sl if you don't want to be in a relationship with them.

A reversed link only breaks if you screw up the reconciliation process there. I found this out when I was following a 100% guide for social links on my first playthrough, screwed up with Yuko, and then just decided I would get them all properly on NG+.
What happens if you reach the end of the game with a broken social link?
Nothing. You just start NG+ with a Broken Social Link.
