Still, to this day, however many years later, I still come back to this specific version of this song to brighten my day. Thank you, more than you’ll ever know.
In fact the story was quite simple, we where offered a contract for 130 shows (What was later renewed for another 200) with the requirement that we would buy and wear these outfits. So it simply meant a lot of work. Now we benifit that we can offer people a choice about what they want us to wear. Thanks for listening! Bert
jeff Craven Yes the gal gas some Big T chops going on. That is the best complement that any T-bone player can ever hear. There will never be another Teagarden.
Bert - you're completely right about the lack of airplay and the control that record companies have on music in general. I must say though that you're outfits are, perhaps, an aquired taste! I do love this tune, and your band really does it justice. Very good work.
@InBy9OutBy5 the story about the outfit is simple enough. We were offered a 100 gig per year contract, if we were willing to wear this. It was renewed 3 years, so we did more then 400 gigs thanks to it. Would you have said no in such a situation?
I don't agree. The reason why younger people in general don't listen to this music has to do with the fact that radio and TV stations totally banned this music from airplay. That is a complicated business choice having to do with too powerfull record companies that control music. Another thing is that it is seen as an old people's music. Actually wearing these colourfull outfits helped to get younger people interested in our band. It's true! Anayway, thanks for listening, Bert Brandsma
Slelna was channeling Teagarden and Michael was channeling ARMSTRONG. Fucking CLASSIC. Bert, do you paly UPRIGHT BASS, too??????????????????????????????
I first hear this music at 22 hearing a live band in a restaurant and became hooked. Today's tradtional jazz bands tend to prefer a caricature of the style specifically to cater to the older festival going crowd. Matching outfits, ridiculous tempos and fluorescent lit conference centers send me screaming. Getting anyone younger and hipper than me to appreciate to the music in this type of atmosphere is next to impossible.
this music, selene play wonderful the tromboune, i love hear she playing, I never beleve that i hear a band play this old beatiful music like the olds recors, since i hear you guys a few monts ago im became in you devote fan. brabo
Thanks for your nice comments. We would love to play in the USA, but yet have to find someone who could book us there, like a booking agency or festival organiser. As individual musicians, Selena and I played in the USA, Selena in New Orleans (She was a big hit there) and I played in New York, San Francisco and New Orleans as well. Hope to find the right person. Kind regards, Bert Brandsma
I will remove your message as I prefer it when people buy our CD's and DVD. When all people start free downloading the music we made, we cannot earn our living and have to find other jobs. We are not under contract with the big music businesses, so it is not so easy. Hope you understand, Kind regards, Bert Brandsma
Vriendelijke groeten, Bert Brandsma
THE BANJO!!??? REALLY? what a complete turn down.... out of all the instruments you chose the one with the worst racial history ever, shame on you guys...
A musical instrument is a tool to make music on. When you think that the choice of a musical instrument, one that simply belongs to this kind of music from the 1920's, says anything about the musicians in this video in the context of racism, is only the product of your own narrowminded view. You don't even know the people you are blaming and insulting in the same process. In reality, early jazz was a field, in segregated USA from that period, where musicians enjoyed each others progress, undepended from color of skin. They were not allowed in that country to play on stage simultaniously, but did practise and had jam sessions together. The political agenda on jazz music, stems from a later period, really.
Still, to this day, however many years later, I still come back to this specific version of this song to brighten my day. Thank you, more than you’ll ever know.
This cover is so so good
It is great to see Lielian doing a solo. She surely has the talent, as does your whole band.
This is hands down the best version of this song I've heard.

Way to go!!

Wish there’s CD for this
The band recorded 5 full CD albums. 1 sold out, 1 nearly. The other 3 are still available.
@@ABrandsma Well press some more! (or sell it on iTunes)
@@ABrandsma Where can I find it?
The trombonist is fantastic, and pardon me for saying.. What a babe! LOL
I want a CD for this
The band recorded several CDs.
Well, Ok , thanks for your opinion.
Then I have a question now. How would you suggest a band like ours should be dressed?
Muito bom
Great fucking sound up against that wall.
Sound is great. Look is , well, I think what we have here is a 5-pack of fruit stripe gum. LOL.
Crank it!
@ABrandsma
Ah right, thanks anyways! Think i'll go for a zildjian, they seem to be more common umongst vintage makes!
Sehr amüsant!!!!!!
Cuando vendrá a MÉXICO? A la CDMX sería un éxito
Nos encantaría tocar música en México. Solo necesito a alguien que pueda hacer la reserva.
Very nice!
Just curious, but what splash is the Drummer using? Cheers!
Vintage! Check out the band Sweet Hollywaiians. They're a Japanese band who knows how to dress well. Nice bass sax work\ by the way.
Poland is nice!
It couldn't be true, I'm an excellent speller.

Thank you, you are very kind! :-) Спасибо, вы очень добры! :-)
It would be nice if the trombone player could play with Tuba Skinny !!!!!!!!!
What is that microphone called?
Megaphone.
It’s foot jazz

Great band. Really bad outfits. This is why younger people won't listen to this kind of music.
Nice cover, but the trumpet solo is a little out of place, it's not dixie at all, it has some bop to it.
its not jazz
