Memories .... I learned a lot from watching these guys on telly in NZ while I was learning English there. Understand a lot better now though. Love them!
Now this was the funniest sketch that Hale and Pace ever did. I happened to have had the aformentioned "operation" a year before this sketch was seen for the first time and it was a bit like a satire for someone like myself. (For the record, the episode was first TX on Sunday 15th October 1989, and also had the Coca Cola advert parody, Little Joshie's poo poo, and Bollocks golf sketch in that episode as well).
i've only seen Norman Pale perform in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He was playing the Narrator in The Rocky Horror Show and he was absolutely HILARIOUS!!!!!
I think its the way it was put on TH-cam. I like it actually, if a room full of laughter is loud and intense it means what's happening is *Extremely* funny :-D
Jon McGlashan yes! I still have it on VHS and the laughter track was that loud! The bit with Bertie, from the days where they tested all sorts on Beagles, and that woman’s howling laughter when he appears. It’s brilliant.
LWT, who made the show, started going over the top with the sound mixing of the audience reactions to the point where it was unnecessarily heavily distorted. There's no denying it's extremely funny, but the overkill level completely ruined it to the point where some of the comic dialogue was inaudible. I complained to the IBA about LWT doing this, but they denied it happening the lying bastards. This clip is ridden with it.
Each show was in front of a audience and you can tell they laughed their arses off, even Gareth tried his hardest to hold his laughter in
Gareth can't contain his laughing, absolutely brilliant this
As soon as I saw this I remembered watching this when it was on the TV. Absolutely classic. Still laughed my ass off years later.
this has been etched into my mind...ever since i first saw it on TV back in the day...pops into my head at least once a year!!
When comedy on TV was funny... The good old days 😀😁
My favourite bit of any Billy & Jonny sketch is the "We know a song about that" line.
We still say that in my house

It's such a shame you don't get comedy shows like this anymore..daft but great light-hearted humour.
Brilliantly done. Seems even funnier now than it did then.
Never heard of these b4 today I thought they were children's TV presenters the way they are dressed but this video has cleared that up
Brilliant stuff. Always made me laugh out loud.
The best thing is that it doesn't matter if Gareth corpses because we expect Billy to have a manic grin anyway.
Bertie the smoking beagle 😂😂😂😂😂😂
i've only seen Norman Pale perform in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He was playing the Narrator in The Rocky Horror Show and he was absolutely HILARIOUS!!!!!

I remember this, when I was little and not normally allowed to stay up past 10pm

The laugh track sounds so intense
I think its the way it was put on TH-cam. I like it actually, if a room full of laughter is loud and intense it means what's happening is *Extremely* funny :-D
this was how it sounded on the VHS tape i had of this scene. It was amazing how loud it was!
Jon McGlashan yes! I still have it on VHS and the laughter track was that loud! The bit with Bertie, from the days where they tested all sorts on Beagles, and that woman’s howling laughter when he appears. It’s brilliant.
That’s the audience damn near wetting themselves laughing.
LWT, who made the show, started going over the top with the sound mixing of the audience reactions to the point where it was unnecessarily heavily distorted.
