  • Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred drops on October 8th, and I think the devs are holding back a ton of major changes that are going to push the game to be the Diablo 4 we've always wanted! Maybe it'll even bring back the "D4 Bad" and "Dead Game" haters. ;)

    The [1] could be a loadout as well… they did mention they want to make it to where you can switch between builds easily.

      I do think we’re getting loadouts but I don’t think they’d show that on the experience bar

    I wouldnt mind less paragon board. Like 95% less.

      The paragon board is just their very sorry attempt at copying POEs skill point system

      And POE copied the Final Fantasy X Sphere Grid.. All games take inspiration from somewhere. :)

      @Rizarjay I'm not arguing that games don't copy systems that work from each other. I just wish the paragon board wasn't so poorly made and implemented. Not to mention the skill system in D4 is very boring and uninspired comparatively, in my opinion of course.

      I agree that the paragon system leaves a lot to be desired. I think it's very suspicious that when the content creators got to try the Spiritborn, they were locked to a level where Paragon wasn't available. I bet they're getting a major rework for the expansion. I hope so anyways.

      @Rizarjay I would hope so as well. While I have stopped being optimistic about blizzard products, I would love to see at least the diablo series thrive. D2 resurrected was such a treat, if only they could've expanded on that. As it stands, the game just isn't compelling in the long term. The story is fantastic, no argument, but retention past that is poor.
      Regardless from one jaded fan to another, fingers crossed that Vessel of Hatred succeeds.

    All I know is that POE’s update Will make blizzard work harder now because how is it possible that a 10-year-old game has better incoming content than a new title

    • @Rizarjay
      @Rizarjay  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because they have 10 years of already developed content and systems to build upon.. But competition is good for both games, so lets hope they're both incredible!

    After listening to the dev interviews, the biggest take away was that there seems to be a lot of things coming with the expansion that they are keeping under wraps. I believe it was the game director who said the expansion will be an opportunity for them to make some "very big" adjustments. Lots of features hinted at that we've had zero info on, like some kind of new itemization, delving into that crafting "well," possibly big changes for base classes so Spiritborn doesn't just blow them out of the water, a new world boss, and changes to progression.
    I think the worst thing revealed is that they were going to let you customize body type, then they trashed it and went with fixed silhouettes for visual identification in PvP. One of my D2 friends saw her class, the Druid, in the beta, and completely lost interest and hasn't played nor talked about the game since then.
    Kind of reading between the lines, it seems like Paladin/holy archetype will be the X2 class since they confirmed X2 is in development and are apparently talking about the holy archetype "quite regularly," which likely means X2 will be set on the other continent with Tristram, Westmarch, etc. and not the more exotic locales like Xiansai or Skovos Isles.

    69 skill points and 420 paragon points would be ...... real nice! 😉

      No it’s not… not until it has a system to guide you through clicking 400+ times. It’s “click” hell. I would say TLXD’s pro build system would be great to copy and also implement armory/load out, or it’s… real nightmare mess.

    60 is the new level cap for sure, has to be and then 100 probably with an adjusted paragon board exp system - great vid!

    it makes sense its an expansion, and hopefully a big one. the way they spoke about it before i always thought it would be lvl to 50 then you get paragon levels. and yes points wise thats how it is, but i just didnt expect to get to lvl 51. thought more like D3 characts hit 50 and account gains 50 paragons levelsfor all characters.

    it's funny i remember talking to all my friends at the launch of d4 and how bad it was. We all agreed after playing a bit the best case scenario for the game was for them to turn it into d3. That way it could at least be a game you blast a week or two on a new season....obviously the devs agreed....lol

    • @Rizarjay
      @Rizarjay  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah.. You're right.. It feels like that's what a majority of the playerbase wanted, so they figured out which aspects of D3 worked into the game they were trying to build, and which didn't.. Which I'm okay with. I just hope that they find their own space in the ARPG genre eventually.. Fingers crossed that it's sooner than later.. I think VoH still has a bunch of tricks up its sleeve.

    D4 isn't a bad game or a dead game but it is and has always been a mismanaged game. In D3 for example, the eternal realm had a decent population even during the season where you may only get about half the clanmates/players compared to the current seasonal players but it was viable and still fun with your characters and friends because they were not usually nerfed into oblivion. The balance philosophy currently is buff a small fraction of builds, make them viable for one season, then after the season nerf those builds into oblivion so that in the eternal realm they are C tier. The result is almost no one plays eternal now which IMO is a huge mistake.
    The stash space is still an issue if you try running multiple classes whether its during a season or eternal and we have no way to add more stash space.
    Season 4 was a step in the right direction for sure but as someone who has played every single diablo game since inception, I can't help but sit back and watch and feel less confident about their direction and vision when they cannot even get some stable, viable builds for each class without wild swings to balance.

    • @Rizarjay
      @Rizarjay  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't know if mismanaged is the word I'd use. They definitely had a rough development cycle, between the pandemic, people working from home, the scandals, having their leadership change multiple times.. So it's unfortunate but understandable while they had a rough launch. But it continues to get much better, so I'm excited about the future.
      To your D3 example -- D3 didn't even have seasons for the first 2 1/2 years of the game.. And once they started, I'd guess it was much closer to 80% of people who played seasonal, rather than the 50% in your example. Tho, your clan may have been an outlier. These games are designed for seasonal because that's what a majority of the player base enjoys. They still very much had flavor of the season builds that dominated all the other classes, and then things would get re-balanced the next.. But the season 5 updates in D4, with the sorc/druid buffs and barb nerfs, sound like they're TRYING to get to the stable balance version of the game, leading into the expansion.
      You're still having issues with stash space? The only thing I keep in my stash at this point are uniques that I keep in case some of my stream viewers need something, but if I was just playing for myself, I'd have almost nothing in there at that point. Boss summoning mats, extra elixirs.. That's about it.

    • @Thorgrimn
      @Thorgrimn 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Rizarjay Ya stash space for uniques is my main issue but I play every class except druid so far and I keep only 1 of each unique but this still takes a considerable amount of space. As far as my example for seasonal vs eternal, I play more seasonal than eternal (maybe 60/40) however, my opinion is that in D3 post RoS non-season you had somewhat stable builds and clan members but in D4 its a wasteland in terms of dead builds and almost no one bothers with eternal anymore. The wild swings in buffs/nerfs feel like the devs are struggling trying to find some balance. Whatever happened to small moves? I know D3 took years to finally iron out some balance issues but I remember the slow steady progress towards making several good builds viable for each class and I do not see that progress in D4. I am hoping to see some semblance of smart, methodical balancing (not perfect), but if D4's focus is purely on nothing but seasons then maybe it is not the game for me and I can accept that without saying its a bad game or anything, it is just not for me. I will play season 5 and the expansion and see how things play out but at least all fans of ARPGs have really solid choices now. It is a good time to be a fan of the genre.

      They’ve fixed nearly every issue with the game. I’m having an absolute blast playing D4, and to me that’s all that matters.
