Olimpia (Darlosan) Olson's Return to Ernea, Romania, September 1988

- This is documenting my bunica (grandma) Olimpia (Darlosan) Olson and my Uncle Jim Olson's trip to Ernea, Romania in September 1988. I believe most of the family visited with was from my grandmother's mother's side (Lucretia Sas, daughter of Nonounce 'Nonu' and Ana Sas). Though, her father's side was also visited with during the trip (Sylvestru Darlosan, son of Ioan and Marisca Darlosan). My grandmother lived in Ernea for a brief time period. Both of her parents were born and raised in Ernea. Her older sister, Maria 'Mary' (Darlosan) Bendorfeanu was also born in Ernea.

Sunteți foarte binevenit. Sunt recunoscător că unchiul meu a înregistrat această călătorie. Dacă aveți Facebook, am creat un grup pe Facebook pentru descendenții din Ernea, actuali și din trecut. Judecând după numele dumneavoastră de familie, probabil suntem veri îndepărtați! Străbunica mea a fost Lucretia Sas, fiica lui Nonouce "Nonu" și Ana Sas.

Thank you for the video! I was able to see my great-grandmother and her sister for the first time. (min 54:13) Olimpia is my great-grandmother’s first cousin. ❤

my father and my grandfather were very happy to see this video, the man from 4:30 , is Danila, the grandfather and dad from my dads family side. My father spent his childhood in Ernea.
Cred că acesta ar putea fi singurul videoclip cu Ernea. Cu toate acestea, am început un grup pe Facebook pentru descendenții din Ernea și cei care locuiesc în prezent în Ernea, unde eu și alții am postat fotografii și am împărtășit povești. Multe fotografii sunt de pe urma călătoriei în Ernea făcută de bunica și unchiul meu. Te încurajez să te alături dacă ești pe Facebook.

Agreed, very sad. I'm just glad there is this recording at a time period when home video cameras were rare! As far as I'm aware, this might be some of the oldest video footage of Ernea!

I think there is some footage of Dumbraveni in that video. They took some video of the Bendorfeanu house in Dumbraveni. My grand-aunt, Maria "Mary" Darlosan was married to Emil Bendorfeanu and they had their two children born in Romania.

I think this might be the only video of Ernea. However, I started a Facebook group for descendants of Ernea and those currently living in Ernea, where myself and others have been posting pictures and sharing stories. Many pictures are from the Ernea trip my bunica and uncle made. I encourage you to join if you are on Facebook.
