My country has only one Olympic sized rink and one really small rink that doesn’t really have quality ice. And the Olympic sized rink is sooo far from my house that if I’m lucky I reach there in 45 minutes (that is the fastest time I could get to the rink by car)
The reason I got into figure skating because of the coco game and also watching it on the Olympics. Also might I add, this sport isn't all about your moves but it determines your pain levels and grace. Because both your outfit and dance along with the music have a certain purpose.
Even if you have to start out with a pair of cheap skates follow that dream. You don’t need anything fancy to skate. You just need some leggings and a shirt.

Ahh everyone in these youtube vids has the ice rink for themselves, but the only one near where I live is always busy, and when it's not, the ice is terrible (they don't clean the ice a lot when there's almost no one on it)
iClaimThisName Actually, they don't have the rink all to themselves. They share it with other competitors, but it's a special session for practicing figure skating. Public sessions on the other hand are always very busy. If you start learning figure skating and your rink supports it then you'll be able to do the private session and it won't be as crazy (but it's a little scarier bc everyone is usually practicing moves or programs aha)
Oh my God so I went to this public skate last week after having club ice for months and these kids were following me around and getting in the way of my jumps, and I'm just over here like Wha What kind of backwards logic is that if you want to see a jump than you can't just skate right in front of me before I take off wtf
Not always. There are many relatively poor families who sacrifice nearly everything for one of their children (e.g. Denis Ten's), and not all families are as loving as others (e.g. Tonya Harding's). These skaters are lucky in the sense that they've made it this far through whatever life they have been given, though.

Try figure roller skating! It is not exactly the same thing, but it was the closest i could find since we don't have a lot of ice rinks in brazil ;)

You try to squat and stand on one leg. The difficulty is the same with or without skates.
