This reminds me of my parents. No one wanted them to get married. They started dating when they were 15 and everyone said it wouldn't last. 3 children and 24 years later, they're still going strong. They made it.
“When it comes to brains he got the short end of the stick” is somehow the most polite AND most brutally honest way to call someone stupid at the exact same time and I love it XD

You two already act like you're married." Just a few days before, she was laughing @ us because we got into an argument about Lord-knows-what & I said "Well, I love you more, so I win!" xD I love you, Brandon Scott Eby! Forever and always, babe. I promise
I have such good memories linked to this song... Singing this at karaoke when I was a little kid, singing it in the car with my mom... and just generally being a kid. I miss those days so much. Everything was so much simpler and brighter. Over 15 years later, life just seems so scary and sad. I want to go back to the days when everything was clear, and music was all a beautiful story.
This song is about myself and my wife. Everyone and I mean Everyone was against us getting married. We got married on Jan.4th, 1975. Our 40th Anniversary is less than six months away. They were wrong!
I love this song so much. I used to sit around and listen to it when I was about 5 because I thought it was the cutest song ever. Probably because my big sister's name is Kate and her then boyfriend and now husband is named Tommy
GREAT, btkaylo... I did not run away, but just like you I married "my LOVE," 38 years ago, and REALLY still am "in love with him, TOO!" REALLY... I think both you and I are really Blessed, we are now "celebrating" our LOVE and RESPECT for each other, not only with our two children, but our three GRANDchildren, now too! LOVE, TRUE LOVE is such a most SPECIAL BLESSING, it is has the approval of God's Blessing... Yup, we are surely Blessed gals! : )
It's amazing how I'm still listening to this song on my birthday in 2019 and it's been ten years since me and my love started dating and this song rings true for us from the beginning, I even said I would run away just to marry him, I didn't have to run away we still got married and now we're happily married for five year of the ten years together, I look at him with the same in love as the beginning and he looks at me the same way. Still listening and loving this song on August 31 2019.
this was my moms song for me because I have always been in love with this guy I have known my whole life. when I was a toddler I would say "I love him mama" and she would say "no you don't you aren't old enough" but I still insisted that I love him and ten years later I still love him
StyleBaby 21 I know the feeling. I've been in love with the same guy since I was two, and his parents have sworn since we were three that we would get married.

This is perfect :) I'm currently writing a story, and this is perfect in the background. It's fits so well. As I'm writing, my character is deciding to do what she wants even if it may be dangerous. She wants - no, she NEEDS - adventure and a feeling of purpose
I am also a writer and I love using music like this in the background as I write. Especially when I am stuck on what I want to say because then I can use the lyrics to inspire me! Best of luck with your writing. Never give it up.

I don’t know why but I think specifically when she says the words “marry that boy someday” her voice just sounds so beautiful! But she’s got a good voice in general, and this is a good song!
This song is about a lot of us, my wife and I included. When we were engaged, I was 18 and she was 20. She came from a middle upper class neighborhood, I came from a run down neighborhood. She was on a couch in college and I walked up to her and asked if I could sit on her lap. I didn't expect her to say yes, but she did and we were married a few months later (met on Feb 26, first date on March 12, engage April 11, and married August 11). Most people were against our marriage because of our ages and opposite social backgrounds. That was almost 25 years ago. We are still happily married (with two teenage children). I still try to bring my beautiful wife flowers every week and make her breakfast in bed every week.
me and my girlfriend have been dating for a year. and her mom cant stand me for some reason. and its for no reason. but i played this for my girl and she started to cry
Oh there's always a reason. Not always justified, but she has her reasons. If you really care, you might try asking her mama what are her objections to you, and if she is wrong, maybe then you can show her why she is.
I feel very fortunate to have grown up in the 90s. I grew up listening to 90s country music, as well as the my parents' favorites. I got mixture of classic country from my dad, and classic rock from my mom. Add that together with 90s country music, and I guess you can say. That I had it made music wise. The rest of my childhood, and teenage years had its ups and downs, but one thing I could always count on was the music. The music kept me sane through the hard times, and smiling through the good times.
Thanks to this song my dad is against me ever dating a guy named Tom. If I ever marry a guy named Tom I'm playing this at our wedding as the first song.

@Alison Campbell just heard it on the radio today
It depends on the radio, there’s radios that specify in certain songs, like classic rock, 80s, 90s, country, pop etc

I heard it in my local country station (they usually play more recent hits) and that's what brought me here.
