You noticed an advantage from 4-wheel steering? It's an extra-cost option (dynamic driving package) that's only available on the RWD F-sport model, though, so how's that possible?

You are correct. I just checked the Monroney and it definitely doesn't have 4 wheel steer. I was confused for sure! I'm surprised this thing turns as sharp as it does. Thanks for calling me out!

@@EngineAdventures That's good to hear someone say that about the sharp steering, as I've been shopping for a used one of these and there's another guy who reviewed the F sport and basically said "don't bother with this car unless you get the dynamic handling / 4-wheel steer b/c it makes the thing feel sharp whereas the standard 2-wheel steering has a whalish feel" (not in so many words but you get the idea). Without having A/B comparisons available, the FOMO can be a bit crazy - and the one of these I've found used with the dynamic pkg is close to $10k over what every other std F-sport is asking -- a recipe for indecision!
Your response above is super helpful.

@@vixapphire glad it helps, I'm used to large vehicles, but had no problem with this at all. It's plenty sporty and handles much better than the Genesis G90 I had that did have rear steer for sure.

I want to like this car because it’s 50 k less than a Porsche panamera but boy 6 seconds to 60 is really slow these days. I know that in perspective that would be plenty of power. But you also sacrifice with the AWD with lack of certain features you will find on the RWD and other high end sports sedans. For the price it’s very good given the quality as well but if you can afford more it would be hard to justify

If you brake torque properly you can do better than I did. Also, the power delivery is poor at lower RPM. I'd love to see the hybrid system from the Sequoia/Tundra implemented into the LS instead of the lower rated hybrid system.

The rear-wheel drive F-Sport is quicker to 60mph by 2 sec.

Thanks for sharing, I know in the past the AWD LS models had less horsepower due to exhaust routing around the front drive components or something like that. Might be similar with the current generation.

Yea. No way. AWD is generally quicker and they have identical horsepower. Zero chance the RWD is 2 seconds quicker with the same engine. The website says 4.6 seconds which I find dubious given HP to weight calculations. I think that a 4.6 second time is impossible. I think 5+ range is what physics will allow in a 5 thousand pound car. Jap brands are famous for overestimating the 0-60. Just th opposite of German brands.

AWD adds increased weight and also parasitic power losses due to additional friction in the drivetrain.

    Kind of a mixed bag.
The motor sounds good, like the red leather treatment but the switches look really boring and that shiny black should have been carbon fiber or aluminum finish.
Definitely more exciting than the Genesis.
Looks like the V8 is dead. V6s suck compared to a stonking V8 and sound a little thrashy, though the Infiniti manage to sound okay.
I hope you get a chance at a Q50 or 60 red sport.

The S Class with the bi turbo V8 felt the best to me by far. I also got better fuel mileage in the Mercedes than in the other two. I was surprised by how well the Genesis did, and didn't like the turbo lag of the Lexus. I'm going to miss the V8s!

@@EngineAdventures Since they could've dropped the LC v8 in had they wanted to, and from my experience of the NA v8 in my old '09 SL63, the torque tends not to happen until you're up in the revs a bit, do you think they went with the TTv6 so they could put the grunt lower in the rev range for such a huge, heavy car and not be stuck in single digits for mpg's? My SL was a 2-door but I was happy if I broke the 12mpg barrier in that thing - and I bought it right at the beginning of Obama's early 2010's uphike in gas prices (remember that?) - the bonehead move of both centuries!

@@vixapphire I did test an LC and like you said, that V8 was designed as a higher revving engine. The LS600 has turbo from a stop, but once moving it does fine. It just didn't feel as smooth with the throttle as the S-class or G90. Mercedes had some sort of magic in the S-class I tested, because I was getting almost 30 mpg highway, and 22 around town.
