I love your videos-I have struggles similar to yours, and hearing you talk through them helps me realize I’m not alone. You’re also really good at explaining your troubleshooting techniques, which gives me some practical ideas for my own homeschool. Thanks for sharing!

Ahh, I'm so glad my videos are helpful :)

My son did that too when he was 5 years old. I always replaced the /k/ sound with the /t/ sounds 😂 I loved it so much

Thank you for being so transparent about your struggles! I'm currently homeschooling my 8yo and 5yo girls plus a very busy 15 month old. This year has been a struggle for me too but we've changed our daily flow a lot and are finally in a good groove.

I have felt the exact same way in the last couple of weeks. I was doing a Sabbath schedule and moving along great but pushed our next break to be Thanksgiving (2 weeks too many) and we are struggling! I won’t do that again next year! We’re schooling this week, but only core subjects.

I love your update videos!! One thing that's very helpful is when you have time stamps or chapters for each subject you cover, especially in your longer videos. Thanks for sharing your homeschooling journey with us!

The Door in the Wall is an all time favorite for my son and I. We've read it three times over the past five years. Each time we read it we uncover another layer of the story. It's incredibly rich! A story of hope and healing...very similar to the Secret Garden, another one of our favorites.❤️

We still need to read The Secret Garden!!

Thanks so much! I love seeing what books you guys are loving as my kids are similar ages and we love a good read aloud!
I feel for you with the restricted diet. I've had to do one for my own autoimmune condition and it was amazing to me how much extra time it took to find recipes, grocery shop and find new ingredients, cook things separately for myself cause my kids wouldn't touch it, etc... I had to wait till my husband was home on vacation to be able to actually do it. So frustrating.
Anyway, I hope it goes much more smoothly for you and that you will feel some good effects from it.
We just did the free Khan Academy Mindset mini course and my boys loved the fun videos that went with it. They weren't so excited about the activities! It was good that they were able to start saying 'this is hard, but it'll get easier if I practice', 'I can't do this yet' etc... they are the same things I've been saying for ages, but if a cute cartoon brain says it, that carries a lot more weight for my boys 😂
Thanks again for all your recommendations. You definitely influence my book wish list in a wonderful way. Thanks for the work you do!

It is so hard to constantly have to plan two meals because the kids won't eat what I cook ... hopefully you can find some time to change what you need!

Last year was really hard with my third grade girl! For her it was some attitude stuff toward school and learning. She’s got some similar perfectionist tendencies like yours as well. I decided to go a more independent route and have her do Christian Light Reading along with Sonlight Lang Arts 4. It’s going well so far! ❤

That is an interesting idea, thanks for sharing :)

Perfectionists are so hard to homeschool! I was one myself, and I'm sure it drove my mom nuts. I've got a perfectionist son too which was causing issues for us when he started to learn how to read this year. He just didn't want to attempt it because he knew he'd be bad at it. 🤷‍♀️ We've hit our stride though after I did some troubleshooting of my own.😊

Oh, man, dealing with a change in diet is so tough!! My guts recently decided that they didn't want to digest onion or garlic anymore, much to my sorrow. I have loved those flavors for my whole life, but now eating it gives me horrible indigestion. And it really takes so much mental energy to rework what you are eating!! So you have all my sympathy.
Our fall has been a but crazy, but we also really loved celebrating Halloween in a big way! Hooray for being able to schedule weeks off when I am behind on making costumes 😅

Yeah, diet changes can be so time-consuming. Good for you for making costume!

I want you to know Angie that you have inspired me to use the Sonlight LA just for the creative writing. I used with my oldest girls and they are great writers. I struggled with my son and gave up. I realize now I should have slowed him down and not have him do every writing assignment.

Ahh, I love hearing that ... just remember it is always an adjustment!

Thanks for another wonderful update video. It’s so hard to find balance this time of year with all the upcoming festivities hitting at the same time as the November slumps.
I would love to learn what type of diet you are using for your autoimmune disease. Do you have any good resources or books for this? I have ankylosing spondylitis and I just found out that my daughter has vitiligo, so some type of autoimmune friendly diet would be of great help for my family. Or perhaps I could email you? I’d love to know whether you have found the diet helpful as well.

Currently, I am using the AIP diet (autoimmune paleo) ... but I started with 6 months of paleo to ease into the change! Now I'm using the AIP diet to find out what my specific triggers might be! You are more than welcome to email me: angiesciencemama@gmail.com

Did you stop The good and the Beautiful LA with your daughter?

Not totally, we started up this year with Level 4, but I'm not liking it nearly as much as Level 3! Actually I just realized this video was from fall of 2023, I didn't start using TGTB until Jan of 2024 :)
