Take x=tan t, with t within ( -pi/2,pi/2). y=sin^2 t has range [0,1). Also, before you divide by 1-y you should exclude 1 from range. 3. In y=(x^2-3)/4-x^2 , similarly you should exclude -1from range before dividing by y+1. Perplexing you don't find and use domain continuously till final stages
