Don't worry guys and keep trying... I had the same problem when the game first came out (and i played it for ages on ps1, and i still have it). But kept trying to mastering the u-turn and how the reserves work and now I just need 5 more tracks for those sweety master wheels (it should have been 4 but, since i have a ps4, i just have to do turbo track twice T.T)
Daniel Masi You actually don’t have to do retro stadium to win the time trials rewards (although it does feel like something is missing when you leave it out hahahah)

Struggled so much on this track because I main Speed class. But then I tried Drift and this made the runs on Cortex Castle sooo much easier. Now it's one of my favorite tracks!
Cortex castle has to be one of my favorites. This guide really helped, I PB'd by about 4 seconds because of this. Keep up the good work! After Spyro circuit, could you make a guide on Sewer Speedway or Dingo Canyon?
This is an amazing video! Another trick in this track: Apart from the blue fire turbo pad, the turbo pad in 2:45 gives you a faster sacred fire than the others, that's why ppl like the world record holders always take this turbo pad in the first lap and it really helps to reach a lower time a lot ;)
For anyone that plays Balanced I can assure you that beating the Cortex Castle Dev Time is possible. I've done it a handful of times and I don't even U-Turn. You can rapidly spam Air Brakes to do a kind of Fake U-Turn and on several of Cortex Castle's corners a regular Air Brake works just fine. Where I managed to make up time is by jumping the corner to the Blue Fire Panel, taking an easier path up the ramp before the hallway with the 2 spiders so that I don't really need to Air Brake but maybe a tap or two, making tighter turns around the corner after the hallway with 2 spiders, and just how forgiving the actual corners of Cortex Castle can be. I believe in you.

The best I got was 2:44:01 so far. It's driving me crazy, no pun intended. That shortcut is a nightmare, I hit it twice now but I never managed or risked doing it thrice. Halp.
I would love to have known this double blue fire trick earlier honestly... I've lost blue fire so many times during second lap. Btw at the 4:35 section of the track I've found easier and faster (at least for me) to do a drift to the right just before the turn to line up with it and make the u-turn softer and easier to land. Hope to save some people time with that

Good luck for the rest of devs time. I'm at nina's nightmare right now but still have to do turbo track twice (thanks ps4!). For thunderstruck actually you don't need to make the big shortcut. Just stick as close as u can to "walls" in those 2 jumps after you get the blue fire and in the spiral just before the blue fire... I think the way the dev does those 3 sections is really slow
I love your videos, and they have helped my game a lot. Thankfully I have cortex out of the way, but I haven't done 16 of the dev ghosts so i'm looking forward to more of your videos. Sadly i'll have to rest for a few weeks as I got gamer's thumb following a horror 6 hour session on out of time. One word of advice, don't tie the ghost on out of time, it doesn't let you win unlike some other tracks. I found out the hard way, and it costed me 2 hours.
Great video, but you say you don't need to worry too much about drift boosting at the start of lap 2. Whereas for me I'm somehow running out of UBF far quicker than you do in the vid. I've gone even faster than that 1st lap in the vid, with more perfect drift boosts, yet I'm still struggling to keep UBF just to the 2nd U Turn, despite starting off lap 2 very similar, with almost the same drift boosts. Really don't get it.
Bit late to the party but how do I stop losing my blue flame after taking the left turn where about 10-15 seconds into each lap? I get the direction fine but keep losing the flame which means I obviously can’t beat Velo
I hate this stupid track. I’ve failed four times now missing the shortcut in lap 3. I never miss it unless I’m about to beat the ghost. Been trying for like 3 hours today and just rage quit, and I’m only on velo, no dev ghosts yet 😂 Update: I beat it the next day

i beat the dev on cortex by jumping into the wall about 10 times on the blue fire pad after that you don't need to drift at all

For Thunderstruck, the dev falls at the very end so you don't need to take risks or shortcuts, just use drift and keep blue flame on lap 2 and 3 .

Yeah the game's picky when it comes to ties, sometimes it let's you slide & other times it just gives you the finger. It's given ME the finger 3 times
