    Bowman Lake is in the northwestern portion of Glacier National Park in Montana. It is not commonly visited by most visitors to Glacier National Park, because it is located in one of the more remote areas of the park. It is more well-known among local residents, though, who use the small, uncrowded campground.
    Kintla Lake is a lake in the northwestern portion of Glacier National Park in Montana. The lake is located in a rather remote portion of the park, close to the Canada-United States border. The lake is a 40 mi drive from the west entrance along bumpy dirt roads, but the scenery on the way is spectacular.
    Hornet Lookout is perched atop Hornet Peak, at an elevation of 6,744 feet. Nearby peaks include Wedge Mountain and Akinkoka Peak. The rustic lookout was built in 1922 and, in its prime, played an integral role for detecting forest fires in the North Fork area. A 2003 wildfire charred the surrounding area, but wildflowers and bear grass are making a comeback. Glacier View Ranger District is bordered on the east by the North Fork of the Flathead River and Glacier National Park. To the north is Canada and west is the Montana's Kootenai National Forest .

    So many people just go to Bowman and either don’t know about Kintla or just don’t want to drive the primitive roads. But that’s to our advantage because it’s so serene and unspoiled. That crystal clear water where you can see the rocks far out with the mountain backdrop…it’s just awe-inspiring! I go visit Glacier just for Kintla. All of Glacier is spectacular, but Kintla is our favorite. That lake just speaks to my soul.

    I drive up the North Fork road to go to my home. I have seen the Northern Lights. Somehow people know they are coming and will show up in the best spots, coming from all around the world. I think it's the only place in the lower 48 that gets the Northern Lights. In Montana they are not in truth as spectacular as what your going to see in Alaska. If you have the resources Iceland has the best Northern Lights experience worldwide. I really enjoyed your video.

      Thanks Tom. For a few years I worked the oil field on the north slope of Alaska and lived the Northern Lights. North Fork road was a favorite drive for us.

    I loved each stop!! WOW!! Incredible. Question... would you consider taking a 22' Mercedes camper van up the road to Hornet Lookout? I'm not sure what the road is to get up there?

    • @RoamingwiththeRamsays
      @RoamingwiththeRamsays  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you would be OK to do that. It can be a bit narrow in places but our truck is right at that length. Never had to use 4x4 just a narrow dirt road so take your time and enjoy the views.

      We drove through that area on our way to Montana, and I agree. We had hoped to take a long weekend trip to travel back this summer to spend some time there and in Banff. But the current situation makes it impossible, they will have to stay on our list for another day.

      @@RoamingwiththeRamsays thats awsome, dont know what places you guys have been to but if you can consider 3 places, Yosemite CA, Telluride CO, and North Cascades WA, as they are equally beautiful as this place 👌👍

      We have spent a lot of time in Yosemite over the years and absolutely love it there. Telluride, is on the list, and we will have to add North Cascades to the list. It's amazing how many beautiful places there are to see.

    Googled how to get to Bowman lakes on their maps and it said "Sorry, we could not calculate driving directions from "Polson, Montana 59860" to "Bowman Lake, Montana 59936". LOL. Google says you can't get there from here but I know you can. Definitely adding these 3 places to our bucket list

    Hi there! Great Video. Was wondering where are you guys fly the drone? the edge of the park?

    • @RoamingwiththeRamsays
      @RoamingwiththeRamsays  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, outside the park off of North Fork road. It is not legal to fly a drone in a National Park.

    Great video and nice camera work! I particularly enjoyed the "bear spray" conversation near the beginning of the video. I've had similar conversations with my wife. Is it just me or does there seem to be a lot of "negotiating" during the course of a marriage?

    • @RoamingwiththeRamsays
      @RoamingwiththeRamsays  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you enjoyed it and no it's not just you. There is definitely a lot of negotiating. After 32 years of being together I am starting to believe she is the better negotiator, but don't tell her that.

    My wife and I drove part way up the road to Hornet Lookout and we were terrified. I was so greatful when at one point we came to a flat broad space where I coukd turn around. On the way down we met a car coming up and in a flash we passed each other. To this day I dont know how that happened on that narrow road. Two things: I would have loved to have seen video of the road and you maybe coukd have said " the road up is not for the faint of heart"

      Sorry about not mentioning that part. The views make it worth pudding part the fear. But I certainly understand.
