- "Which is the best book to read on Sri Sathya Sai Baba?" This is a common question at the Book Store whether one is a long-standing devotee of Baba, a curious newcomer or a thoughtful person thinking of gifting a friend. Should it be a book authored by Baba? Or a book of His leelas and mahimas? How about the Sathya Sai Speaks which is a compilation of all the discourses Swami delivered?
Here is a story - 3 stories actually - that give us a clear idea on the best book ever on Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
The monk about whom it is mentioned in the satsangh is Swami Abhedananda. The story finds a place in Sathyam Shivam Sundaram Part 2 as follows.
There are many instances when Baba has appeared and applied the Vibhuthi on the forehead of the sleeping or unconscious patient and the dot is seen on awakening. Or, as Swami Abhedananda (aged 75) writes, the appearance may be to convey a message. "In the early hours of the 28th December, about 4 a.m, while I was still in bed brooding over the melancholy and disturbed state of my affairs, I felt a sudden blow on my head, strong but bearable. I got up and switched the lights on. To my surprise, I observed a shining form of Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi which changed into Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba - appearing separately for some time and then merging together into a dazzling column of light which lasted but a few seconds. I felt I had the vision of both my benevolent Gurus! While in this happy state of mind, I heard a voice (which was then strange to me but which I later verified as the authentic voice of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba) which spoke to me in Telugu: "Do not get agitated; do not meditate! Merely watch the mind; that will make it disappear. Watch! And know that He who watches is pure awareness. Abstract and absolute Awareness is Self, Sath-chit-anand. That Thou Art. This is the Peace that knows no second condition. This is what you are ardently seeking. Be firm. Bliss is Thyself; you know it through intuition. The blow I gave you was to reveal this secret: Watch!" I started following the instructions, from that moment onwards. Bhagavan is a 'living presence'.

Swami had touched and rubbed a part of my father's head while he was sitting in the darshan line with my grandfather and uncle, back in the 1980s. A couple of years later, he received a terrible (almost fatal) blow on exactly the same part of the head while batting for his school in a cricket match. And as you can guess, he is still alive. 🙂😃

As a beginner I was a bit confused to pick which book to start with my spiritual journey with Sai. I picked up Sathya Sai speaks volumes X
I never been to Parhti before , with Swamy’s permission would like to visit during this Summer ( Aug).

Well said Aravind! Your videos are amazing and always carry Swami’s message. We are all blessed to have books written by Swami and devotees / students and many of these are available in audio books as well; therefore one can listen while he / she is commuting or driving or just wants to give the eyes some break. Ultimately, as you said practicing some of the teachings in the book is important. I remember one time you shared your dream about the Sathya Sai Archives and how Swami was eating the content of the books / media files. Storage for posterity is important but that point in your dream was even more important.

I read books penned by Sri Aravind Bala Subrahmanyam too , all are worth reading , He has innumerable Sai experiences he is blessed to enjoy close proximity with Swami. Swami has showered bountiful grace on him and may he continue to be blessed always.

I have not read a single book of Swami fully. I just randomly open any of his literature and start reading from anywhere and I have felt that a message just for me is there. I smell the pages and feel the paper with my fingers. Maybe touch Baba's pictures or His feet to my head. I really yearn for His presence. I really do. Without His sheet anchor role ,I would be nothing. Swami 💚 💚
When he wills the world turns topside down it is just by our action if we are fortunate enough to serve him so that we bring a smile on HIS face and he bless us ☺🙏

I know a very devoted Sai Devotee who was accused of a crime which he didnt commit.
A FIR was opened.
He was devastated but when the FIR was later found to be reduced to ashes in the file with all other papers were not burnt.
The devotee eventually won the case despite all the hardship he faced.

The best book on Swami I guess cannot be written or rather Swami cannot be described so easily! All these books are good and they may be still giving us only *a detailed introduction on Swami* that's all!
Swami should be described in DIVINE terms for full understanding and that is not yet possible,I guess🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹For understanding the divine completely one should have complete surrender!

In one of my recent dreams, i asked Swami if i could take padnamaskar. He had kept one foot on the other and i could just touch his toe. After that i saw Ramkrishna Paramhansa. Instead of white i saw him in black clothes. I think i saw some person during the day with black scarf (people who go to Lord Ayyappa carry that) and may be that's why black. But why Ramkrishna Paramhansa in the dream, i dont know 😀 i was reading Paramhansa yogananda and realised that paramhansa is the common between the 2. Thats it, but saw a very clear image of Ramkrishna ji 😊
