Update to my old post years ago. I still have my SLK350, and as recently as 1 month ago, Someone still commented on how great the car looks. I bought it in 2009, so I've had it a while. Thinking of upgrading to the 2013 SL550 now that I'm retired (and fatter). Anyway - this car is for someone that wants it for specific driving, and what I call my "niche" car. I also drive a pickup truck most times and save the Benz for those special days. Maintenance can get a little pricey, but not that bad really. I would still buy this car even today.
I was about to talk shit but then I saw everyone else's comments and I was like cool nevermind I'm not the only one.
Always good to know about the car and its features before doing a review. Maybe a dry run before you start filming will help aid you in this area.
I bought a beautiful white MB SLK 350 October of '21. It's one of the MOST beautiful cars I've ever seen...and I LOVE it! It's my favorite car EVER!!!! It's so smooth, fast and elegant. LOVE: LOVE: LOVE!!!

Drop the sexist/pretentious attitude & you might get somewhere. Most people don't like to watch reviews by someone that has a pessimistic attitude towards almost everything. It makes you seem incredibly biased, but that's just my opinion.
I couldn't agree more. A car review is supposed to be an unbiased assessment of a particular model and make. Whether you like it or not is irrelevant. Is it a "girly car"? Any man who drives one of these and there are many who do would be a little offended by that stereotypical comment. It has beautiful lines and not the typical masculine aggressive styling of many sports cars. As with anything you buy, there are better and worse makes but SLK drivers like the retractable hard top, the styling and looks and just love their car. I have driven this car for a long time and my review is that I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@kimcousins1125 I was thinking that too with the comment about the "Feminine curve" of the back facia of the car. Hmm. It looks like a mid-00's Mercedes to me. They all (more or less) had that "feminine" curve. One wonders if that means that Mercedes-Benz was/is a "feminine" marque. The curve in the front line of the hood and then ... nothing. Were we expecting the VW Beetle? Maybe a 1990 Honda Accord with those hide-away headlights? But at least the car does have the huge bling at the front. Oh dear.
@johnmyers5732 I would always describe this as a “girly” care from the early 2000s because of those who chose to drive it. Check out media from this time.
Generally I hated the swooping nature of cars from the late 90s/early 2000s. It lacked any definition and purpose.

Thanks by the way! I wish I'd seen this right after getting this car last year.....it took me MONTHS before I realized that I actually DO have cup holders, LOL. I LOOOOVE this car....however, you are right! There is almost NO storage space inside or in the trunk! Luckily, I'm very petite so this car is PUURRFECT...for me! I still know there are many things that It can do that I haven't figured out yet. The manual for it is so big that it takes up the entire tiny dashboard and is so filled with info that it's a tad overwhelming. Nonetheless, I'm beyond thrilled with my baby..... She's in pretty much factory perfect condition due to being very well maintained as an "actress".... Yes, a true "performance car." LOL. I bought her from a fleet of cars rented out for films. Since I'm in the same industry, it was kismet that brought us together! :). I have to say, I think my car is actually a lot nicer than the one you were in on that lot!

lol - pretty good review considering he hardly knows the car. Top retracts in 22 seconds (not under 15). I've had this car 3+ years, and he managed to find a lot of things I don't like about the car in just minutes. The car is unique, and even being 7 years old, I get a lot of compliments on it. Handling is pretty darn good IMO, and it's fun to drive. STIFF - due to the AMG package suspension on mine. You WILL feel holes/bumps in the road. The car is still one of the best looking cars.
I LOVE my 350. Are there better cars? Yes, but this is a hard-top convertible with pretty good performance. If I could buy one of the overpriced 55s on the market I would, but it only reaches 60 miles per hour about one second faster than the 350. It is a beautiful car to look at and drive. I am sick of negative reviews about this car. It is not a girly car and as a man, I feel comfortable for others to see me driving it. Long live the SLK.
@@kimcousins1125 Haha - I still own my 2006 SLK350, and still get compliments on it almost every month. I still have people wanting to buy it. It's almost 17 years old now, and I've owned it for 13+ years, and it runs just as well today as when I bought it in 2009. It's about time that I give it a lot of TLC and refresh everything. I've looked for 5+ years for something that I prefer more, and can't find anything for less than $75000, and they are ragtops. Nah - I'll stick with the girl I came to the dance with.
I must admit that I really want a 55 but they are so overpriced that it puts me off. I will stick with my 350 and wait for that elusive lottery win!! Good luck with the TLC.

How can you say whether it's an okay car or not if you didn't even drive it? A storage compartment that was used for CDs is useless now? How about using it as a storage compartment? A good car review probably should have specifications, 0 to 60? Power output in KW, HW and NM of torque. Fuel economy etc etc. This is not really a review, its more just a guy playing around in a mercedes. The roof demo was cool though :-)
You're looking for space in trunk with a hardtop? You didn't even know it was a hardtop. Do you drive a Prius? It's a 3.5 6 cylinder, with heavy trunk. What about it is for girls? It's a roadster, did you expect a big car?

This car is strictly meant for pulling up to weddings, funerals, High school reunions, college reunions, business meetings or short trips out of town, And to show that you have class about yourself. These styles of cars are also meant for driving down the coast and enjoying the sun and the wind flowing through your hair or your girlfriends hair because it’s a Mercedes it speaks for itself. If I seen the car in my state, I would’ve bought it right off top no questions asked and you see that’s the difference between people who have class and relate to it we don’t complain about what we were meant to be with it’s only the people who it’s not for that complain about it and I also would like to speak on the glove compartment it’s strictly meant to keep the manual to the vehicle and the insurance paperwork and title paperwork Plus may be a small flashlight if needed. lol maybe I'm trippin. But how are those bad gas miles? You can get 1 with a 16-19 in the city, and possibly 27 on the highway. Just educate me, cause I used to believe that was decent in a car that was made for SPEED. But I can be wrong.
By today's standards it's not efficient even for a car that supposedly goes fast. People will buy this used, and when price isn't considered, this car does not hold up well. You can get faster. You can get more efficient. You will pay more. For someone looking in this price range, this is still not the best by far that you could find.
So its true that they are only kicking off of premium gasoline also? How about the electronics and wire works? good or bad news?

Pessimistic video. Compare this model SLK to other well known roadsters out there such BMW Z3 / Z4, Mazda MX5 and Porsche Boxster and it actually is a good very car. Reliable, sturdy, smooth to drive and quicker than the BMW and MX5. Its fun to drive. Much cheaper to run than the Boxster as well. This car gives a very good driving experience and a 0-60MPH in 5.9 seconds. If the convertible shield was placed forward in the boot, it would also offer 310 litres of boot space capacity. As much as some saloon cars. PLEASE REMOVE THE SHIELD NEXT TIME YOU FILM SUCH A VIDEO. I have own owned one of these for several years, so I am talking from experience.
The model SLK was also designed by the McLaren F1 Design Team and it is based on the Mercedes SLR design. Mark my words, a future classic. Its the 6th Merc I've owned and its the best so far! Its a truly beautiful car and a still a head turner and looks brand new at 18 years of age on a 2006 plate (comment dated March 2024).
