@@SSS-mz4jd Chios has many types of beaches, it all depends what you prefer. If you prefer sand then you go to Lithi, Karfa, Fana, Megas Limnionas, Agia Dinami, Managros, Agia Markella, Limnos, Lefkathia and Komi... All the others are pebbles. Mavra Volia is very unique. All the pebbles are black and it is a beautiful and famous beach! Also Vroulidia beach is incredible. Apothika is another one of my favorites, great beach bar on top of the hillside with a beautiful view of the beach. Some beaches have a beach bar, some have beach chairs and umbrellas and some have absolutely nothing. Some are crowded and some you might be the only one there! Chios has so many beaches and they are all different from each other. Best thing to do is check out some of them online this way when you go there you will a lost of the ones you prefer to see first. There are even beaches without names! You just have to get a rental car and go exploring. Restaurants there are also many great places such as Bachari, Apomero, Mouria, Roussiko, Aperanto galazio, Pastards, Cardamom, Spontini.... For fast food such as gyro, the top 5 are Marathon, Ellinikon Kargas, Magos Crepes, Doggy Style and Aella.... For dessert axni kai kanella, cafe gelato pagotomania and Kronos ice cream... Be sure to visit the village of Mesta, Volissos, Pirgi, Avgonima and many others beautiful villages. Great sunsets from Avgonima, Agia Markella and Agiasmata.... Best thing I can suggest to rent a car and explore I know there's many other great beaches that I've missed like Nagos, Trachili, tigani and I've missed amazing places like Yperion cafe up in the castle of Volissos and some nice restaurants in the castle of Chios. Explore, that's all I can say. Rent a car, then expire on foot. Chios is a beautiful island with much to see and do. The north is different from the south and the east is different from the west... Enjoy your stay there!

I'm waiting for more updates because I missed the Northwest and Northeast part of the island, so you have to explore much more. It is impossible to discover Chios in just 1 holiday.

Hello Doortje, my girlfriend and I want to discover this island from head to toe. Which of these two places would you recommend to spend 3 nights in terms of where is more going on in the evening (more locals around, more of a buzz in tavernas, etc) Pyrgi or Mesta? I know that Pyrgi has a larger population but I keep reading that in Mesta is a bit more "going on" but as we will travel in early June or late September this could make a difference. Thank you.
@@YesSirPhil Good morning. I usually visit Chios in June and occasionally in September. In June there is more greenery. Other than that, I don't think there is much difference with September. If I had to choose, Mesta would be my preference, although I can't rate it accurately because I've never stayed overnight. Anyway I think Mesta is the best. Good luck.
Between Mesta and Pyrigi I would choose the Mesta, it has something more medieval to it. Another option would also by Olympi which is also beautiful. For relaxed evenings you can also choose Karfas bay, plenty of taverns by the sea and also some really nice cafes uphill such as Aeriko from which you can savor a glass of wine and see all the bay.

Chios for now is not so "touristy", it does have it's share of travelers but it's not crowded. It's also a large island with a lot of beaches, villages, large capital city so you are going to mostly blend in with the locals, which makes it much more appealing that regular known destinations.
I remember I was asylum seeker in this island its beautiful but the people and the police are so racists therefore I have got a bad experience about greece and now I hate anything related to greece.
