Thanks for the video, I was not able to see the live view of my Lumix G85 until I downloaded the latest driver shown in your video. One tip for anyone else, do not try to use a mini display adaptor cable to hook this up to your mac, it doesn't work, you have to pony up the cash for a cable from Apple, I bought the thunderbolt 2 to thunderbolt 2 Apple cable from best buy for $29.

Hi Tario, do you have any clue why the light wouldn't work when trying to connect to a new M1 Pro? My BMD Recorder 3G works with older Macs (Intel 2019) but not with the new M1 Pro... No light, a total no-show. It seems to be a hardware problem. And yes, I use an Apple light bold cable. Please help. Thank you!
Ok, problem solved! I've had a hardware connection problem with M1 and BMD Recorder 3G (light not showing) so if anyone experiences this please make sure you get the RIGHT thunderbolt cable! There are different Apple thunderbolt cables (like a short "normal" one and also ones especially for monitors!!!). So we finally solved the problem but it sure was a ride! Happy streaming everyone! Wow...Your video the bring to light a few things 1. the green light on the box and the second was the point about the Drive. However when I download the drivers (Converters) the green light still does not come on nor does my system show the driver actually installing onto my computer, maybe you have some additional suggestions from this point. Ive been working on this for the past 12 hours (lol - I really am trying) Thanks for your help/assistance with this matter. Your video was very clear and easy to watch, just wish it has worked.
Thank you! I'm not sure what you mean by green light, my converter has a white light not green. Ps, if there is no light, usually it means that the issue might be the converter or the cable, as long as the light on, then your computer will be able to read it. Hope this helps!

I personally had desktop video driver and express but did not have the converter driver installed... so I could get a video through express but nothing else, till I got converter.. thank you again
I have spent hours trying to figure this device out watching hundreds of videos & trying different things for 3 weeks now about to give up. my mac was reading it but no signal, no video. i am trying this when i get to work. man, i hope it works!!! this is the video i needed to watch from the beginning. so frustrated!
Hello, I am using Wirecast 11 and a Mac pro with 4 us mini recorders that are receiving signal from Sony SRG - 300H cameras. However, in Wirecast I've added all 4 capture boxes successfully but each one just shows a black screen and no video signal. Do these boxes require a specific frame rate / resolution? I didn't see any adjustments in the software except select the input SDI or HDMI and I've selected the appropriate input which is in this case as well HDMI. Then in Wirecast I reset the preferences: Wirecast > Help > Send Support Information but I clicked on the lower left Reset Preferences. Restarted Wirecast and test in a new blank document. Still a black screen. It's like it's working, but it isn't. I'm continuing troubleshooting till it's resolved. In the meantime do you have any suggestions I could try? Thanks!
Sometimes 4k resolution will show black, after adding the capture box, try to delete and add again, also try restarting your computer and camera, using the right cable. If you can find the captures/signals in the blackmagic plugin, then it means there is no problem between the box, your camera and your computer, so the issue would be software related. Good luck.

Desi1080p yeah we used OBS. After following the video, it worked well for us. We had it just laying around the church and we enjoyed using it. You will need to download some software from black magic for sure
I haven't used our livestreaming equipment for 2 years because of COVID but I pull it out of storage and it no longer worked. I updated Black Magic Desktop Video, Media Express and OBS Studio. Connected everything and the white light is blazing but not connection. Followed the steps in this video and still nothing. I checked MacOS and it needed some updates and BOOM - device connected and blazing ahead. Thought might be able to help for those that hit my dead end.
Thank you, i bought a Mini DP Cable in Miniso that looks the same like Thunderbolt but it didnt work, then I read that it only support USB2.0. and not USB3 that the Desktop video says. Blackmagic Desktop Video 11.6 now does all this for the mini recorder... I just got mine and downloaded this ... same result you get the desktop video 11.6 from the Blackmagic support page ... see product family 'capture and playback' and you can then download the software , this also include the drivers and media express capture playback software ..it will all be installed in your applications folder and you will see it in the MAC system preferences also as you show here.... Yes it will if you have a windows pc/laptop with thunderbolt port. I am using a Acer Predator Gaming laptop and it works great since it does have 2 of these high speed ports. Not many windows computers do so be sure to look for it when buying.

hey brother, as of last week it no longer pics up my web cam for browser streaming. it works on all blackmagic software. FB live and youtube will pic up the mic but not the camera

If you open blackmagic desktop app, does it show your mini-recorder there? Have you tried restarting your camera or make sure your camera hdmi output setting is setup auto-detect or something?

He recommended the wrong blackmagic app, its the Desktop Video app under capture and playback, not the converter apps, everyhting should work after that.
alex7arias have you tried restarting your camera, allowing the security in the settings. Also, after plugging it in see if u have the light on from the box.

Have you checked in the Desktop Video Setup software if the recorder is set to HDMI or SDI? For me this was the issue (it was set to SDI, I needed it to be set to HDMI).

@@nickymaiden666 the driver you shold download is actually the desktop video one not the one mentioned here. I had the same issue as you for two days then I saw this solution on a tutorial by staff at Wirecast and I got mine working.
don't know what camera you are using, but double check with your mic, input & output setting on your camera AND mac, each person's setup is different so it's hard to tell. Good luck!
Does have anyone experience with connecting a Sony A7 iii... I have a Sony A7 ii and it works... but the mark iii is just sending a black Signal.., (mac, catalina, latest version of driver and firmware of the camera installed)
Sony a7iii only supports output 1080i60, be sure to set the HDMI output to that resolution. Then you have to turn on & off the TC output over HDMI. If it's not working, try to turn off and on the other options (REC Control & CTRL FOR HDMI). I'm using TC Output, REC Control & CTRL FOR HDMI set to "On" and it's working fine. But every time I reconnect, I have to switch between those options.
@@cedricallard1746 Suddenly resolved, I have had HDMI output problems, it wasn't working anymore.. Then yesterday, it started working because I saw 3 screens running(I use 2) 1 screen was double cabled with USBc and HDMI..I rather Use 1 HDMI forr my 4k screen.. then 1HD screen connected with my eGPU through 1usbc port, so I figured that there was a signal to my miniULTRAStudioRecorder.. and Desctop Video Setup was sensing it..so there it is.. working again..My best guess is it needed to be restarted or reboot. But the problem in the first place was mac mini with big Sur in waking up from sleepmode..when at that moment video signals from HDMI started working again.
@@visualentrepreneur My problem was different. When installing Desktop Video app I had to "Allow" the app in the security preferences of mac os x. The first time I installed it, i restarted my computer without doing so. And then it didn't ask me to allow Desktop Video. So i had to install it again and allow the security preferences befor restarting my computer.
How in the world can you install the driver when Blackmagic no longer has the driver install anymore on their site? And if I'm wrong where's the link lol.
I'm running MacOS Mojave (10.14.3) and there is no option to "Allow" Blackmagic Design in the System Preferences-> Security&Privacy. Anybody have any ideas?

You'll need a startech adapter. 80-99 usd, thunderbolt-3 to two. Then you can find apple thunderbolt cables on ebay

don't know what camera you are using, but double check with your mic, input & output setting on your camera AND mac, each person's setup is different so it's hard to tell. Good luck!

Hi, does anyone know if its possible to have Blackmagic Design Ultrastudio Mini Recorder to connect to desktop pc?
Does have anyone experience with connecting a Sony A7 iii... I have a Sony A7 ii and it works... but the mark iii is just sending a black Signal.., (mac, catalina, latest version of driver and firmware of the camera installed)
Sony a7iii only supports output 1080i60, be sure to set the HDMI output to that resolution. Then you have to turn on & off the TC output over HDMI. If it's not working, try to turn off and on the other options (REC Control & CTRL FOR HDMI).
I'm using TC Output, REC Control & CTRL FOR HDMI set to "On" and it's working fine. But every time I reconnect, I have to switch between those options.

@@cedricallard1746 Suddenly resolved, I have had HDMI output problems, it wasn't working anymore.. Then yesterday, it started working because I saw 3 screens running(I use 2) 1 screen was double cabled with USBc and HDMI..I rather Use 1 HDMI forr my 4k screen.. then 1HD screen connected with my eGPU through 1usbc port, so I figured that there was a signal to my miniULTRAStudioRecorder.. and Desctop Video Setup was sensing it..so there it is.. working again..My best guess is it needed to be restarted or reboot. But the problem in the first place was mac mini with big Sur in waking up from sleepmode..when at that moment video signals from HDMI started working again.
@@visualentrepreneur My problem was different. When installing Desktop Video app I had to "Allow" the app in the security preferences of mac os x. The first time I installed it, i restarted my computer without doing so. And then it didn't ask me to allow Desktop Video. So i had to install it again and allow the security preferences befor restarting my computer.

I m a Mac user, so can't give you accurate information, but you can download the drive for PC from blackmagic website so I assume you can.

No, it only captures one, if you want to do two channels, you need to buy another Mini Recorder + Thunderbolt cable.

I'm running MacOS Mojave (10.14.3) and there is no option to "Allow" Blackmagic Design in the System Preferences-> Security&Privacy. Anybody have any ideas?
