When Townshend said 'wasted' he was talking about how his generation had so much promise but it was just wasted in the end. My dad who fought in Vietnam thinks about all his brothers who never came back when he hears this song. Each generation at times seems to repeat the same mistakes. This whole album is great but Baba O'Reilly and Won't Get Fooled Again are basically songs young people need to hear.

@@dohanddonuts5716 same still going on. Afghanistan… now Ukraine is seeing civilians here in America die because of the economic tole causing starvation and freezing as we enter winter and people can’t afford heat. Everything seems fine in liberal areas but get to a rural town where we don’t have the same social safety nets and people are dying out here in their own homes.

This song gets more emotional as time goes on. I'm not from The Who's generation, but this song has elements of the young (at the time) post-war generation, living their life to the fullest, being free and racing against time. Now, that time has gone and that generation, including The Who themselves have grown old and are sadly leaving us. The future may see this song as a frozen snapshot of a far away generation that will then be long gone.

I'm only 32 years old, but I would have loved to see some bands from the 60s - 80s live. The Beatles, Bee Gees, Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourn, Kelly family, Genesis, The Who, Rolling Stones, Simon and Garfunkel, Kimi Hendrix, Mamas and Papaps, Michael Jackson & the Jackson 5, Aerosmith, Andrea Bocelli, CCR. I'm also glad to be a child of the 90s, to come home from school and watch lots of great series on TV, and these days there are lots of great festivals. But times were completely different back then and you can always tell that the singers of the past really wanted to sing with passion and wanted to convey something with their music. It's impossible to compare that with today. Back then the singers' music still had a deep meaning. Today, on the other hand, it's almost only commercial music. Of course there are great singers in my time too, like Robbie Williams, U96, Backstreet Boys, Das Modul or songs like Zombie, an island with two mountains or I Love You Always Forever. But when I listen to music from the 60s - 80s it gives a completely different vibe & I wish so much that I had experienced that time. Woodstock must have been legendary too. I am very happy that I was able to see bands like Robbie WIlliams, Unheilig, Phil Collins, Elton John or this year Cyndi Lauper live & I wish there were many more

Ok relax. This song is good for 70s standards but we’ve gotten so advanced that music today is much much better. We have drake, post Malone, and cardi b. There music is easier to listen to , faster and more exciting. It’s just better this is boring compared to the stuff we have today. It’s way over rated and it’s quite simple. Music today is much more complex.

@@Xxrocknrollgod Music today is garbage. Half of todays artists don't even know how to play an instrument, let alone write a song. Unfortunately, great music, real music is a fading reality with the newer generation, no fault of their own but by the industry. 'Easier to listen to', i don't want easier to listen to. I want an actual song written by the artist, performed by the artist, without the help of any programmed drumming, autotune, or any other shit engineers of today use to sell their music. It's crap. No thanks.

I saved up all my money and "Who's Next" was the first album I ever bought. I've purchased thousands of albums over my life and I'm proud to say it's still my favorite album! (here I am still listening to it). I started wearing Who t-shirts and drawing their logo on all my book jackets etc. Back then all my classmates thought I was a weirdo. I saw and heard the Who in 1973. You have no idea how great they were. Keith just killed it, as they all did. One of the smartest things I ever did....drive to St. Louis with my friends, from Lawrence KS to see and hear maybe the greatest live band of all time. @ 18...I was damn smart. With a lot of help from my friends. The music we listened to....the greatest of all time.

This song always feels just right. It gives me a feeling of nostalgia but I dont know what. Maybe its all of my happy memories bundled in to one. John's wonderful bassline, Keith's excessive symbol bashing, Pete's excellent powerful lead guitar and of course Roger's vocals make this a perfect example of why the Who were such an amazing four piece. Pete's obsession with synthasizers was also put to good use in this classic. My favourite song by anyone from anytime without doubt.

It feels nostalgic and it also feels like moving past one part of your life as that part ends but beginning a new part/story. Which makes sense.

    So very creative.
A drum set, a synthesiser, some guitars with overdrive, sustain and feedback,
and then finally, a violin solo to finish it off. Never knew who it was.
His name is { Dave Arbus } and he is 82 years old now, going on 83.
I have eclectic taste in music, but deep down, I really have a thing for piano, and violin.
I'm not quite sure where this comes from.
I may be a reincarnated person.
Most likely, it's because they are wondrous instruments for classic musical expression.
The piano and the violin that is.
They are, and will { always } be classical instruments.
I'm thankful that we have this song forever.
    Aren't you ?
The outro violin solo always made me see Gypsies dancing around a fire at night-time.
Close your eyes and listen to it closely.
    Can you see them ?
    I believe You can.
    There they are.
They are dancing very passionately, and they have been drinking.
They are not half-hearted people these Gypsies.
They're liquored up, they're down for it, and they're All In.
But, after the fire dies down these Gypsies will need to get some rest.

I don't even like CSI NY that much, but when I played the song in every opening it made me excited.

I've just watched to this amazing track that I have loved for years, but never seen this video. I had to make a comment to tell the designer of this that it is bloody beautiful... The timing against the video is exquisite and the design is gorgeous. I know you might never see this comment, but I want it out there in the universe that you made something quite extraordinary... Well done to you. Its a beautiful thing you made...

This lyric video was a perfect fit for such an iconic song! It even looks like it was actually taken from the early 70s!
