The only disadvantage that dunkirk came to see is its lack of rear turrets, although I understand that the Battleships of the Dunkirk class were for tanking against Bismarck and Konig class but I feel that if they had put some rear turrets like the Alsace it would have been better at that time.
I like that it has all turrets on the front and both are powerful. Because otherwise you have to turn to to the side in order to have full power to shoot which also gave the enemy a bigger chance of hitting you

On the other hand, she deals so much damage that it takes a second for the game itself to clock onto how much she does, and she definitely has the HP to back up each hit she gives and then receives while she's reloading. She's arguably the best battleship in the game if you ask me.
Dunkerques and Rodneys are good at the level they are put into. I always play Dunkerque with max options/power. I've once taken on 3/4 ships with me just left, and won. Got a real buzz from it...

Dunkerque has advantage going straight for an equal powerful ship. Small target, since not having to go broadside. Just don't over-do the run
