Grooves are usually from stuck/stiff slide pins on the caliper bracket. People skip clean and lube the caliper slide pins. If it matters, chase out the locktite with a tap and spray out the thread hole with brake clean so the torque is right when putting back with new locktite. Check for stainless with a magnet. Good luck and keep it safe.
best t o replace that disk to be fair. the coatings are gone on those rivets so they will rust back up in no time and your right on the wear limit and I bet below it at some points on that disk
I agree, but the disc is specific to the XF and the DR Big and it's pretty pricey. It's 1 degree C here this morning, so the bike is just going to be put away for the winter. (and I'm old and ride slowly...)

Thanks for the tips! I did not know that about the grooves, but I did lube the pins on reassembly.
