Season 2 Episode 17: Two officers had been shot and one had been murdered in Washington, D.C. They had been sitting in their patrol cars when a man sneaked up on them and opened fire. The 1995 murders of Prince George's County Police Department officer John Novabilski and FBI Special Agent William H. Christian Jr. compelled the FBI to help catch the cop killer in a confrontation which lead to a violent gun battle.
The FBI Files is an American docudrama that takes a look behind the scenes of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's crime laboratory.
Real FBI cases are recounted through reenactments and interviews, due to the sensitive nature of the show, viewer discretion is advised.

I think you should come and see how things run here in Finland. What takes months/years to happen there gets done smoothly in a day or two in here. During my 35 years of life there has been two crimes where an officer has died in this country. The first one was back in 97 and the guy (Steen Christensen, who came here from Denmark while he escaped during his 24h vecation from the prison) got cought in three days and the second one happened in 2016 and was solved right away. We just dont have any serialkillers etc. or shootings at the police because our laws dont operate like that a person X could get 20yrs. for selling an amount of drugs that fit in a teaspoon - so why shoot at the officer?

So, a 20-year FBI veteran parks in a way that looks suspicious to a passing-by patrol officer. What are the odds that he wouldn't look suspicious to a criminal who actually expects an ambush? It's ridiculous that a scumbag who read a couple of books could easily go around and kill agents conducting "WELL ORGANIZED" operation wich sole repose was arresting him.
He should have realised and change the plans.......anyway
My thoughts!
It was well organised at the first location but they rushed to get to the last location and into positions. There were mistakes made there clearly.
The rules is that after u location it's discovered which is the case by the patrol police the agent was supposed to change the location immediately because he's no longer in safety that was a big mistake that costs him his life!
Mourad Ikhlef I truly believe when the police came with his lights on and blew up that spot that the whole sting should have been aborted, they knew at that time that he called his ex-girlfriend and said he didn’t see her. At that point they knew he was watching from a distance which put all of them in a bad position. They should have had a massive amount backup on the ready to set up a big perimeter around the outskirts of the gas station. Not to mention they should have been in groups of two so one man could be on surveillance for the station while his partner keeps look out of any one sneaking up on them.

hell yeah
How on earth do you conduct an operation like that without telling the local cops to stay away?
So many screw ups it's amazing they even cought the guy.
Due to various reasons -
Most likely there wasn’t enough time as the meeting location kept changing.
Back in the days, communication amongst different law enforcement departments wasn’t as smooth due to different procedures and communication technologies.
The perp was known to listen in on police chatter. Informing local pd would have given him away.
Also the agent thought he did good job hiding, but clearly not since a local cop found him.
Overall poor policing - from the first time he outran cops from the cab to the dead agent’s blunder.
easy, ther FBI is widely a terrorist organization creating more crime than they prevent.
Or having a sniper in the woods or not chose an open location around woods when u know his coming to kill ?
They handled him so poorly- mistakes after mistakes-he was there earlier then them - they didn’t have an undercover around there !! Just dressy up as workers or have offices to know so you don’t call for backup after shooting- when officer out of blue comes there the cover was gone - and he only went after him
They didn’t learn from their mistakes, when they find out who he was they kept a secret and put officers in the risk - public & offices had to know who he was then he could be catch faster. The taxi driver single hand did a good job - right there they lost him .
y'all forgetting the suspect was the one that changed the location at the last minute so there was no time for fancy undercover tactics and if they cancelled the meeting they might lose him forever

the suspect already knows that he's wanted and there's a reward. What are they thinking when he agreed to meet nadine at the gas station? that he will just casually walk to the gas station and wait for nadine? He already knew the vehicles around the gas station were cops. I just think it's a bad decision to do that.
I guess they used tried and true tactics over anything. Most criminals are stupid. They make dumb mistakes that makes the police's job as simple as waiting for the perp to show and then spring the trap. With all of the attacks on police and Federal Agents, it's a wonder why they didn't approach the case more differently.

To many cops and the cop killer would realize it.
This show has gotta stop keeping me up late! 😅
People need to realize that these are re-enactments. When you see a car in the re-enactment, it doesn't mean that is exactly where it was parked by the cops. When you see a cop with binoculars in a re-enactment, it doesn't mean that's exactly where that cop stood, or how the cop actually surveyed the scene. When you see a bridge and water below, it doesn't mean that's the actual bridge that a victim was thrown off of. These are RE-ENACTMENTS, people!
Because of camera angles, you're not going to have the re-enactment look exactly like it was. Because of things that don't have to be told to the public, you're not going to know exactly how these agents do everything. You'll get the re-enactment version just to watch while you listen to the story. Video after video, someone in the comments has to spew a bunch of "I'm so clever" BS, because they can't seem to understand that these are re-enactments!
Some of the video is re-enacted, but some of the video shows actual footage or news footage of the events.

Sadly yes
This series is really good.. I hope the American people can appreciate the work and dedication of law enforcement. Some of us have it rough out here, last time we reported a house break in the officer asked if we had seen or heard anything and we told him "no". He shrugged his shoulders and said, "well there's nothing we can do, we are not the FBI". They didnt even come over to investigate.. the most they do all day is sign affidavits, certify copies and accept bribes.
Lol
Worse, heinous crimes happen. Lots of money stolen and they are not at all helpful. If anything they are accomplices
Our country is worse there are policemen who give plans for theft and take a share , when u go for registering a complaint you have to give bribes and buy them cigarettes and food , in some instances you have to spend more money then the value of the thing you have lost . It's shame to our countries government 😂😂😂😂
I find it funny that the police in the dramatization handle evidence without gloves or tools, just scooping it up and putting it in a paper bag.
Heb there goes the evidence 🤣🤣
I do not understand that the cop who comes up with a blue light has not been informed that an arrest is taking place there.
The local police should have been informed. They caused the death of their own colleague
I was thinking about that also, maybe with all the changes, they just didn't have time.
I dont understand that either it seems like the street cops have no respect for the Feds crazy .
You should notice that some of the local police there will be a corrupted officer. Most of the top level authority or agency never informed the local police dept if they had conducted an ops within their area. So this are not only happened in USA but this SOP also applied to other countries around the world. Because they did not want the classified information been leaked out. So for the FBI, they take their own risk. And the risk was the lost of agent christian.
The fact his cover was blown and he stayed in the location... was pretty piss poor. All that training and they can't see the obvious danger. He should have left the scene immediately after his cover was blown and he'd still be living!

If he was caught that day, many lives could have been saved!!
I couldn't even believe he killed that detective 😭
This episode was by far the deepest.
Appreciate your updates videos and playlist
I truly enjoy watching these testimonies .
"Billy had been a 20 year FBI agent, Billy was an expert marksman, a firearms instructor, one of the first members of the FBI hostage rescue team, the full time weapons and tactics team, and a full time member of the Washington field SWAT team..." Sooooooo, he didn't have enough experience when he heard noise to get out of the car to check it out? Duh!!!!!!
They told him they were watching his back it isn’t his fault they couldn’t do their job right…
That taxi driver and the courage he showed is the perfect example of a bamf.
This is my first time in this channel and i really enjoy this show. New subscriber here.
I admire the courage of the taxi/ cab driver. However, I think the planning and execution to hold the killer was flawed. The detetives should have made his girlfriend call the shots for a more convenient location to prevent any further lost of life among the constabulary. My heart goes out to the families of the murdered officers especially the last one who was scheduled to retire
If she was a follower he'd know the police are there if she gave the terms.
This was the best movie I saw in a long time
More like documentaries

The cabbie put himself in danger and really tried to help …Decent human being!!!
In light of recent happenings involving law enforcement officers and civilians, a common ground must be found so we can coexist with each other.
Ur right. It mustn't come to this.
You're being manipulated by the media
Defund the police.
