    A correction for u that the ladder truck is called ALP aerial ladder platform, a mix between tower ladder and hydraulic platform.

    Interesting, I've always wondered how y'all set yours up. I still can't comprehend using that small of a hose diameter for a structure fire though. Our interior attack lines are ~45mm.

      FF Rivethead ...... the high pressure hose-reel jet is a formidable flame killer, and is the primary weapon deployed at fires, even house fires. They can even extinguish a liquid fuel fire where the immense high pressure actually blows the fire out. A firefighter armed with a hose-reel jet can be getting water down within ten seconds of arriving on-scene. Nothing to connect. Yank it out, pull the trigger, go...... There are many videos on this site demonstrating its qualities.
      Rarely do UK house fires require anything bigger. I don't think they'd be very affective against a house fire in the States though. And that's primarily because most of the houses are made of bloody wood!

      @@YelpBullhorn thank you so much for the reply. And that definitely makes sense. Are most of your residential structures made of brick and mortar, concrete and such?

    • @YelpBullhorn
      @YelpBullhorn 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@firefightr_spike3846 .... open wooden house fires require water.... and lots of it. In Britain most homes are brick and mortar, or concrete. So house fires are confined, contained. High pressure water works so well in confined spaces. Its all about the pressure. Bricks and concrete contain and indeed magnify the pressure. Wooden structures don't.

    Why do some brigades refer to Aerial Ladder Platforms as Hydraulic Platforms? West Midlands do the same. Yes, they've both got a platform, a cage, but they are quite different machines. This is an ALP. An ALP is a cross between an HP and a Turntable Ladder, but you wouldn't call it a TL would yer?

    • @harrilewis18
      @harrilewis18 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    How long does a BA last usually before needing recharging/refilling ?

    • @Ben_9476
      @Ben_9476 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The time they have inside a building/how much air in their tank heavily depends on the individuals work output, the harder/faster they work, the more air they will use and the quicker it will diplete.
      Generally speaking you shouls get anywhere between 20 minutes, up to around 30 minutes on a full single tank.

    • @harrilewis18
