I worked on. Vampire A/c from 1955 to 1960. Amazing. Aircraft. The T11 trainers canopy was adapted from the mosquito so pilot and cadet sat side by side On two Martin baker ejection seats great for aerobics easy to fly and service. Brings back fond memories

Yes I've seen one, I think it's in the Shuttleworth collection. My Dad was a gunner for the Vampires in 6th Squadron.

My godfather, Bert Young, will be 90 this Sunday. He flew an early Vampire as a test pilot for the RCAF at the end of the war. Crashed and walked away! His photos of the wreckage give pause. Better yet, his mate drove a different route in his car than the crash brigade, found Bert walking around, took him to the hospital, then the bar. When they finally caught up to Bert, he was his relaxed and affable self. Much finger wagging ensued. He flew many more test flights. Apparently, the Vampire's gun did a nice job on armour.

I saw a Vampire at the Trenton Air Show in Ontario, Canada a couple of years ago. I thought it looked amazing. Unfortunately it wasn't in flying shape. I was so glad to find this video of a flying Vampire! One of my fave planes now! Thanks so much for posting this!

One of my first jobs as a young fella was a customs agent , de Havilland being a client.I would often deliver to their workshops at Bankstown (suburb of Sydney, Aust.) and in those days there were no restrictions and I could wander their hangers and apron at will. Wonderful stuff...absolutely bonza !!The variant in this video was a common sight and I photographed such, a NAVY (RAN) model which was being serviced, during one of my errands.

There are two of these aircraft at the Finnish Aeronautics Museum near Helsinki-Vantaa international airport, as well as a detached Goblin engine which is on display on its own. The planes were used by the Finnish Air Force.

I used to watch the Vampires when they flew over my house to land at Air Force Station Tambaram in Madras India when they were on the inventory of the Indian Air Force in the 60..’s l can still remember that whistling sound and I would run outside to watch them going into land as my house was just under the flight path of the Air Force Station .Lovely memories and Cher’s from Melbourne Australia .By the way that’s what started me off on my model plane collection .
