Great video, this was the last mission I needed to get my Gold star. I was a little slower than even your target time (but thankfully I saved minutes from your other videos) because to make it even easier for me I went the route of tagging the three pillars and destroying the last two to get the dual phoenix's. Thanks again for making this video!
@mathemitnullplan yeah whatever works! I honestly didn't know you could get double phoenix when I did my run. These videos are just a rough guide. Feel free to tailor it however you like.
Yeah, I used all the devastator ammo so the game thinks I can't destroy the wall and access the boss. I don't need to destroy this wall because I skip it. Long story short don't use all your devastator ammo.
I gave up on beating this game because of this level. Between the RNG, the hype damage enemies, the boss fight that can kill you in two hits and the XCloud lag spiking constantly every time I played this part, I eventually just gave up.
Im currently trying to crack this and am glad to see another approach. Still trying to find a routine that fits. Charged up mauler is better than double phoneix at destroying the ruins! Fuck me
Out of interest what made you decide to play this in and specifically go for the crowning glory achievement? I've been getting a bunch of comments on my perfect dark videos all of a sudden and I am wondering why so many people are playing it now.
I bought rare replay when it was on sale during Dec 2023, and decided to return to PD, which I had in 2002 on N64. Having learned about the new achievements, im slowly making my way through with the help of TH-cam. This game has such incredible replay value and they just don't make FPS like these anymore. My only complaint about the xbox port is not having access to the alternate intro when you beat the game.
@IEW I believe you could unlock it after completing the game on N64. it was simply the track for Alien Conflict set to a nice Perfect Dark themed screensaver. I could vibe to this game's OST like im at the afterhours.
Perfect Dark is Forever. Nice to see another one of these.

I only heard about the dual phoenix recently I was thinking that would be an interesting strategy. Glad to hear you got the crown.

Yup, the XCloud ran every game well except this one. Maybe my internet wasn't great that day, hard to tell.

@moizzle I played this to death on the N64 as a kid, didn't even know there was an alternative intro
