Or maybe they need to find something new / some new sound for them and start experimenting. Like Bathory did with Viking metal, maybe one day we will have a unique sound and a genre in Metal called 'Native American Metal', just like there is Viking Metal now. :)
Regardless - decent release. I enjoyed listening to it.

I've told this to a lot of friends who are on the cusp of getting into metal that the greatest strength of the genre is how any culture on earth can take it and run with it and the results are unique and mind-blowing. This is yet another example of great fucking music made by someone honoring their culture and advancing a genre.

This is phenomenal....another native American black metal band to check out is Pan-Amerikan Native Front based outta Illinois. Also very deserving of success.
The track 'Sacandaga' is amazing.
The mixing is immaculate on this one. Instantly added to my playlist.
OMG those melodies are sick! The unexpected flute in Sacandaga gives more and more goosebumps! Awesome work!
Just like the Scandinavians , the natives were forced into conversion to the Christian faith, also, natives were nature focused just like the Norse , this is the perfect combo indeed.
You could even go so far as to say they have a direct connection, given the natives' interactions with Leif Erikson. Though that was a bit North of where this music is from.

Colonization and Invasion are not synonymous. How many tribes and even entire Confederations cease to exist today because other Indians removed them from history long before Europeans colonized unrecognized territory? They should have banded together and founded the United Confederacy of America and bargained peace deals with Europe instead of attacking them.
Natives were not nature focused lol. Tons of accounts of Natives abusing the lands they lived on with poor waste management and over-hunting.

I'm usually into Death Metal, but this has been the first album to really make me headbang in a long time. Glad to have been here when this released.

@@johnbreen2370 I don't think I've ever heard anyone classify this as anything other than black metal, and personally I fail to see the death or heavy metal aspects of it.
@@johnbreen2370 I can see where you might get post-rock, but I don't see death metal influence at all. The vocals are raspy not growled or guttural like in death metal. The guitars use a bunch of melodic tremolo picking (typical of atmospheric and melodic black metal), there is folk instrumentation in some of the interludes and intros (common in folk black metal) and the drumming uses mostly blast beats which is standard for any variant of black metal.
This is absolutly amazing! My brother told me about 'res metal'. I guess this is it! Whether i stand in a fjord in Norway (traditional BM that i listen to) or in a Res in North America, some themes are universal! Fuck 'Cultural appropiation'! Hopelessness and Darkness are Universal! I LOVE it!

Been playing this album on drives to go hiking or climbing a lot and it hits such a sweet spot when it's well before dawn and you're getting pumped and driving through the mountains just soaking in these songs. It's all been said about this album, but this will forever be on my pre-mountain adventure playlist!

My word, I was moved to tears a few times, and I’ve listened to this twice now, it just hits me in the soul; my family is mainly Cherokee and Choctaw, and there’s something in me that just swells with this unknown and mutual understanding of our shared history and pasts. Thank you, sincerely, for respecting our cultures and shared ancestry, and making this wonderful album.
