Acne is such a difficult thing to deal with. I mean its insane how something as small as spots can cause so much pain in terms of how you view yourself, your self confidence. Everything.. crazy

I was in a mental hospital for a week and a half following my mom's death and I have sever acne. The nurses only gave you a slab of bar soap that you had to share with your roommate (pass on that lol). The mirror in the bathroom was this weird reflective plastic that you could hardly even tell who was looking back at you. For that week and a half, I was too worried about getting tf out of there and just trying to not be attacked by my roommate that I didn't have time to pick at my face or thoroughly clean it. Plus you only had 5 minutes to shower, you you gotta worry about the rest of your body before your greasy face. When my father picked me up (after putting me there in the first place), he couldn't even recognize me. I always had little red zits mixed with giant whiteheads. I looked in the side mirror of the car and couldn't even recognize myself. I only had one little motherfucker on my cheek, but other than that I was clear. Months later, my acne returned, but not as severe. I realized while I was in the hospital that there are more important things than your face and how people see you. The people who care and love you don't care about the craters on your face. The only person who cares ends up being yourself. Thank you for the people who read this long ass paragraph.

This video taught me so much more than how to cure my acne , it taught me to accept the facts that I have acne , some days it will be better some days it will be worse but it's who i am and what I look like and I am okay with that and should be confident no matter what
You're soo right about just letting your skin be. When my acne was at it's worst I would be picking and using all these different products and desperately piling on the makeup to hide it. The first step is to relax and just accept yourself, sounds cheesy but so true and it actually worked for me. Be kind to yourself

I had terrible acne when I was 16. but now you can't even tell that I ever had a problem. I don't have a single scar. Its weird.

Some. I had hyper pigmentation but it only lasted for like 2 months after the breakout cleared up. But it was bad. I don't like comparing it to anyones else acne but it was almost as bad as Sara's older videos. I'm happy for her that it cleared up. Acne is not fun.

"If a product should heal you it should heal you." Truer words have never been spoken. I have dealt with acne for over 10 years, have an esthetician license, and a BS in nutrition and dietetics. I know way too much about acne, and this is the first video I've seen of someone that understands the complexity of acne. Most people do not have a purge period if they find something that works. That can mean topical treatments, diet and lifestyle adjustments, supplements ect. If your skin is breaking out a lot more, STOP using it! It will most likely not get better. And if it eventually does you have probably temporarily "ruined" the top layer of your skin. I could go on and on. But yes, every single human being is different when it comes to acne. It really is such a complicated subject.
Also, when you stop resisting things you allow them to get better. So many people could clear their skin if they understood that. I never mentioned how I cleared mine, but that's how I did it. When I stopped caring, the acne stopped coming.

I'm 41, and I still break out! You're so right about self diagnosing your skin. Using gentler products has made a difference. The water here breaks me out. And yes diet can make or break your skin. I don't have acne on my face, but I get two or three ugly ass cystic pimples as big as my nose every month and it doesn't matter. they're shit, but being confident doesn't come from having a clear face. hormones suck, stress sucks. life is life. nobody can judge you on your damn pimples.
im 18 and have had acne for the longest.. i can't remember the last time i had clear skin and i feel like I've tried everything.. I've given up on trying to treat my acne because of exactly what sara said, i learned to love myself and that includes my acne. i have those days where i can't stand looking in a mirror because of my skin but then i have those days where i see my skin improving slowly and i feel much better about myself. thanks for sharing this with us sara, most youtubers don't cover this topic and when they do they list products they've used which doesn't end up working for everyone

I went to a dermatologist one month ago and he prescribed me this gel thing to put every night. which i at the time thought it was the best thing ever . So i used it and let me tell you, my skin has never been this dry, ever. It's like peeling off. I threw it away and i'm keeping me skin care as little as possible. Which means im only washing my face with water and putting on sunscreen, and ive been trying to drink lots more water.

I always enjoy seeing a fellow acne sufferer (whether you are currently suffering or have suffered from acne in the past) sharing his/her acne story with other people. I dealt with it for many years and sometimes I still have a bout of acne. It is my chronic condition, but I also know how to get it back under control when things go awry. The simple wisdom that you provide can go a long way and help someone else just relax about it. Sometimes people just need to see another person going through something similar. You are right that many factors go into treating acne and each person is different. Even so, there are ways to pin point where your acne is coming from and once you understand the things that you have mastered, you can dig deeper. I don't wash my face and I don't have acne. I used to have acne when I was using products on my face. Now I just need to stop picking because it leaves marks on my face for a week (I still have blackhead, they suck).

Retnoid is suppose to help with blackheads. I was prescribes it for acne and I have noticed my blackheads on my nose are not very visible anymore. starter it in Oct.

you know what, fuck it. i wear makeup to school everyday just because of my acne. i don't really enjoy it but I'm insecure and when it's about to be the weekend I'm so ready to not wear makeup only because no one from school will see my acne. you opened my eyes and now I'm gonna try and not wear makeup and let my skin heal
Gabby Bonillas I used to be like you as well, there was not ONE day I went to school without a full face because of my acne. Even if we were going to the store for 5 mins, I'd quickly put on foundation and powder to make sure I was covered. Trust me, life is so much easier when you don't worry about what others think and when your comfortable in your skin

But seeing your scars, seeing you looking BE YOU TEE FUL without a foundation or concealer slathered on your skin, really helped me to accept that I look just as beautiful with mine:)

Ive been a vegan for a while now and I barely EVER get pimples anymore. I then did a project where I went back to eating dairy for a week (no meat) and for me dairy made me break out quite a lot. I didn't go vegan because of my pimples I did it because I like animals and I don't like eating them or what they produce.
i dont think it has to do with meat tho, i eat meat a lot my family and friends do as well, we never get acne .....

I admire you for being so honest. It's so true about sometimes one needs to stop worrying about the skin and it will eventually go away. I tried every product every TH-camr used thinking it will help me and did nothing to my skin and in some cases made my skin worst. New subscriber
I also suffer from acne and I feel like it is not visible on camera. One, my cameras aren't the best quality...2 I have this entire layer of "under the skin" acne that is hard to see but I also quit trying to "clear my acne" and I quit worrying so much I worry more about other aspects of my skin and it has helped. And makeup may cause some acne but as acne people, we know that we are going to get acne regardless of if we go weeks without a makeup or not. I worry now more about keeping my skin clean and moisturized rather than drying out my pimples. But I still pop mine and I don't know if that will ever change. Of all the products I bought for my skin one of the best things I have bought was a $7-$8 gentle cleanser and it was one of the best things I've ever got! When I take a break and stop worrying I feel like my skin gets better. Basically I feel like if you work on cleansing yourself internally first, it will reflect on your skin. Clear your mind, clear your body of toxins and what not. You sit there and worry about what is on your face that very well could have been caused by stress, so the more you stress, the worse it can become.
