  • Krakow, Poland - Having been spared from much of the bombing of the 20th century, Krakow is one of the best preserved cities in all of Europe. From the largest city square to the oldest shopping mall, Krakow is home to some incredible places to visit. Its history is unparalleled, having been the original capital of Poland, but it also has a very dark history, particularly in the Jewish quarter during the Nazi Occupation of Poland. In this video, we are exploring all that Krakow has to offer. Its many different churches and sites have shocked me and I hope you enjoy visiting Krakow as well!
Thank you so much for watching!

About that cut off note - there's a legend about the guy who played the hejnał. In the early hours of morning, he climbed on the top of the tower and he spotted a Tatar horde approaching to invade Kraków. He tried to warn people, so he did the only thing he could - he started playing his trumpet. A Tatar archer killed him with an arrow and that's why the hejnał ends on a cut off note. Thanks to his sacrifice, the town was able to defend itself.
It's a legend but I think it's interesting how it's still incorporated into the local culture

Next time you must visit the Franciscan Church and the Church of St. Anna. They are beautiful and also close to the market.

I will add where the Jews came from in Poland. They were brought by King Casimir. There was never a famine in Poland like in Western Europe because two types of grain were grown, one was resistant to light frost, and the Polish nobility could not engage in trade under the threat of losing their nobility title, and they were the owners of the land. So they imported Jews, the most suitable ones. for trade .
