Not a lot of folk would know that originally the s16 was designed to be a pump action semi automatic, concerns in legislation (UK) (at the time of manufacturing) lead Login to reconfigure to the catch bolt we have today, the S16 was very desirable when first available as it was amongst one of the first "Military" styled PCP's on the market.the S16 is a solid rifle but has a complex mechanism and quite a few 'o' ring seals, third party servicers(aka gun shops) don't like to take them in for servicing and Protek won' even touch one! Once you know your way around the rifle they are very tactile, speedy and accurate. The S16 also has in incorporated laser socket for the beam shot range (1000) in the end of the foregrip, an extended QD stud for fitting a bipod, the silencer is amazing! I have a MK1 still running on original seals - never serviced (Just keep them well lubricated) - I would say the s16 is still a useable rifle over a collectable case dust collector. The finish on these is superb, aftermarket 3D magazines are available on Eeeebay and work well. The down side = Aluminium deterioration (corrosion) and this can occur at the buddy bottle end (Thread housing) other than that all the variations were good but for me the more straight forwards MK1 offers everything I need to night stalk (Sub 12) vermin. The rail is a 11mm dovetail but there are many weaver picatinny conversion blocks on the market. My only dislike was always the rear bottle cover (Stock) but I believe there is a more ergonomic FX or Gunpowder rear stock that slips over the buddy bottle in the style of an AR. Buying one I agree is risky now days because those on the market have either been self serviced or have a fault (leaking or indexing issues as the mags do wear away gradually over time but mags are also servicable) sub 12 and FAC versions still exist on the second hand market - One more thing the s16 does is take down - with the bottle removed (fill adapter not probe required) and silencer taken off (should have a half inch UNF thread cover, the rifle can fit (unscoped) in a very compact case or half sized slip bag (Logun supplied these as part of the set).. Have fun, stay safe and legal. Peace out ✌️
