The poor main character has some serious PTSD. She's stuck in a heightened state, extreme anxiety and paranoia. Went from about to be murdered, to being kidnapped by aliens and put in a survival situation. It's no surprise she hasn't gotten better in the years she was on the alien planet. I hope all of you who can't understand/tolerate this character, never go through something like this. Even with medication and professional help, she would likely never be quite right again.
I didn't know that you had put this out on TH-cam until today. Glad you did. I bought the book, but I like to listen to them while I am working on the computer also.
I like the idea of how untreated PTSD would play out, and it certainly makes sense that her symbiont ''assigning'' her some guy would bring up all her old fears and then some. And even the fixation on ''what if the evil ex turns up'' is ... yes, irrational, but that's the thing: if you've been through such a trauma, you can get (seemingly) irrational, and people telling you ''eh, you're being irrational'' is no help help *at all* . And ''irrational'' isn't the same as not understandable: Sam tried to fix it with distance several times and it failed every time, and then never really dealt with the fall-out of her trauma because: _surely being on the other side of the universe is enough distance, right?_ - and _then_ another human turns up? Yep, that's going to bring all the PTSD boiling up again. Doubly so when suddenly there's a frickin' pod turning up. But it get's unbelievable when she doesn't realize quickly that the Evil Ex wouldn't be in a place where he's the big strong star whom all the cops want to buddy up with. He'd just be another puny human in a world of seven foot blue hunters. Plus a few former gladiators who'd all wipe the floor with the cute little MMA fighter. Oh right: and the dragon.
Barbarian's Prize is probably my last favoured in the IPB series. Probably need to have read it cos a lot happens in terms of the ongoing story but WOW it was boring
Great book, femalr narrator is amazing, the male narrator is good for the men but sounds like a constipated valley girl when he narrates women. The sex scenes ended up making me laugh hysterically because they sounded like he was on the toilet.
Barbarian's Taming (or something like that). Mostly just fun. But, this is the one where the tribal cave collapses due to earthquake and forces them to find a new home. Also what causes Pashov's injury and memory loss and what killed Warrec's dad. There's not a great deal of angst between the sisters
I had mixed feelings about this one. It starts out predictable 😴 as all the others. Sam is traumatized and has paranoid delusions that cause her to deny her resonance. Her fears were ridiculous and poposterous, almost like she needed to be the victim. It gets better as the book progresses but still remains fairly predictable. I appreciate the upload.
Ikr I was eye rolling with how many over the top freekouts she had about Brad coming back. I feel like having the bad guy show up was supposed to be validation for her fear, but it didn't really make sense. I think it would make more sense if she suppressed the Brad thing and then maybe she had to figure out the reason she was afraid was Brad fear in her subconscious, but to make him a real fear of showing up was absolutely ridiculous lol.
Yep no. Sure the story is predictable, that's pretty much the point of the romance novels series right now: liked that story? Cool, here's a slightly different version of it, enjoy. And a victim of year long abuse, stalking and death threads being freaked out by being 'assigned' to yet another huge strong fighter, with everybody else going 'sorry about that, but no point in fighting resonance' ? Of bloody course she would. Her fears _would_ have been preposterous, except that (1) she never had a reason/much opportunity to deal with her PTSD - she was on a frikking other planet, how much safer could you possibly be? and (2) her fears only boiled up after everybody got a reminder that the universe loves to dump abducted humans on the ice planet. So she's not afraid of something that's impossible, just highly unlikely. More importantly: I think her fears are _meant_ to be irrational, because that's one of the awful things about a situation like that: that people feel saying 'oh no, you're just being irrational, simmer down already (and stop being so annoying)' is going to solve the problem. Quick reminder: cops telling her that was part of the original trauma. So up to that point: the fears might not make that much sense, but the story *does* . What makes it a bit weird for me is that she doesn't very quickly remember that she's now the one with the home advantage, and that her Evil Ex would have exactly _one_ go and pestering her before he'd be facing: (1) a bunch of protective, seven feet tall experienced hunters (2) couple of gladiators who make MMA fights look like a playground fight and (3) a dragon.
Thanks for that. This was my impression but (cos it's free at present) I was debating about giving it a go. Now I won't bother. I've basically given up on the IHB series (and IPB has finished).
Great! Really grabs my emotions!!!
I'm loving this book series. Can you up load more of the icehome series. Pls

Sam is pathetic. On a whole other planet for years and still terrified. Come on. I can’t with this one.
Can you do One for the One with the devil sister I bet that’s a really juicy story her liking the guy kidnapped her sister

It's very pathetic to see privileged people talk about issues they very clearly dont understand.
Yep no.

She’s older then him but he is so much more mature then her. Not the best story. But thanks for posting.
I’m not sure I’ve ever been more annoyed with a main character.
