Thank you for sharing your health struggles, CJaye. I know it's not the same, but I haven't been able to train this week due to the flu. Sharing both the positive and negative helps everyone understand that we all struggle but that we also get back up and try again.

My hubby had campylobacter before. Lots of fluids and REST!!! Shouldn’t need any meds but need to rest and focus on recovery, Cjay☺️

How long did he have it? I’ve felt bad for two months and it’s gotten progressively worse and then extremely bad for two weeks. I waited a long time before trying meds.

He got it after 70.3 Washington. Started on Wednesday after the race.
One week of symptoms exactly like you described. He started to feel better the following Tuesday.

He also had giardia after 70.3 Oregon and that one lasted more than a month because he didn’t rest and he lost so much weight… He tried working out every time he felt a little better but ended up being in bed for so many days after fighting so hard and still not getting better…

This kind of bacteria requires rest more than anything. Unfortunately the meds don’t seem to work well because it’s a bacteria. When he lost so much weight and gotten so weak, he actually could have gotten some medication but it was too late anyway. Took him forever but got better eventually.

Big picture, Cjay! Take some time off and really focus on getting better. You won’t lose all your fitness. You will come back! But take care of yourself first so that you can keep doing what you love for a long long time☺️

Campylobacter is a germ which can be past through drinking contaminated water, but is more commonly ingested by eating uncooked meats or fish. Now this can be through cross contamination ie cutting other foods on the same chopping board as raw meats or not cooking properly. Raw fish (sushi) is also a common source if it hasn’t been prepared properly???

Thanks! I’ve been reading up on that. Seems like most people get over it fairly quickly, but I’m not one of them so far.

@@CjayeMedia I work in a poultry factory as a planning mgr. most farm reared poultry has compylobactor, hence cooking properly is required…most people do that anyway, but it only needs the chopping board or hands not to be washed before handling other food stuffs to transmit….easily done, the affects whilst not deadly are uncomfortable and depending how long it’s left in the gut can multiply quickly…..nasty bacteria 🇬🇧

Last year it was cool and windy... October NC can be a roll of the dice as far as weather. It did warm up on the run but was 55 in the AM and most the ride was cool and windy.... but yeah, could be humid. No telling.

Hi Chris. Happy you’re making VLOGs again. Missed watching with coffee in the mornings. Have you considered the figs as possible cause of stomach issues? Also the quad tendon hurting is likely to be from that big climb on the bike. All the best ❤

One issue I had after dealing with an intestinal issue was to push the yogurt without taking into account that I developed some lactose intolerance. Although the yogurt helped the intestinal flora, the lactose worsened my intestinal symptoms.

Campylobacter can also come from drinking raw/unpasteurized milk
