Many of you have requested a Miley Cyrus video so I will try and release a reponse tomorrow or the next day. It won't be very long since it can be summed up as: DHA is from algae.

Man, it must be boring doing those vids haha. I don't understand why so many people care. Unless they think Miley will watch your vid and go back to being vegan? You gonna address her in the second person? Haha. But while you're at it, I wonder if she was taking enough B-12. Too many vegans screw that up, and she's obviously not huge on supplementing. Also obviously wasn't eating enough calories, perhaps not enough plant protein and plant fat.

You want to end horrendous environmentally damaging beef production, end fkng fast food. If people only ate local organic gfgf beef we'd eat less beef and the environment would be much happier. Then we could turn the millions of acres of farmland used for cattle feed into healthy organic human food production.
We don't just need to change what we eat but where we eat. How we eat. We don't need all this 24/7 convenience food available all the time. That's why we're fat and sick. Who the fk needs doughnuts, KFC, taco bell and burgers all day and night? Noone!

I think this study is pretty nice since it showed that even incorporating processed plant-based food has significant beneficial effects on health (of course the environment as we). Many people think of going vegan very challenging because they think they would need to say goodbye to most of their favorite foods. But swapping meat source becomes a lot easier. TMAO is strongly associated with cardiovascular disease and some cancers, there are also some proposed mechanisms for impairment of endothelial function caused by TMAO. It could very likely be harmful by itself. It is very difficult to isolate TMAO from a meat-based diet and test whether TMAO is toxic by itself due to ethical reasons...

    • @rileymacintyre9678
      @rileymacintyre9678 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Hi! We actually can isolate TMAO levels by doing type of genetic study called a mendellion randomization study.
Those with genetically higher TMAO don't have a higher risk. So tmao is likely to simply be correlating alongside it or reverse causality
      diabetes.diabetesjournals.org/content/68/9/1747
"We further found that T2DM (0.130 ± 0.036, P < 0.0001) and CKD (0.483 ± 0.168, P = 0.004) were causally associated with higher TMAO levels. Our Mendelian randomization findings support that T2DM and kidney disease increase TMAO levels and that observational evidence for cardiovascular diseases may be due to confounding or reverse causality".
Mic the vegan lost a debate with vegan doctor Avi Bitterman on tmao here

    Personal Beyond meat experience:
Last summer I went to a restaurant that used to serve a more fresh menu. I really liked their black bean vegan street tacos but they switched the menu up. I ended up with a Beyond meat taco dish (and they only had fries, no fresh anything really) and it was just gross. I ate it anyway and I don't know if it was all the oil (since I don't use oil but if, on the rare occasion I eat out, I know restaurants use it and I am not usually affected by it) or if it was the Beyond meat or both but my gut was messed up for two weeks.
I am a WFPB vegan so I am not accustomed to the fake foods. That experience set in my mind that I will not eat fake meats. I lost my desire to eat any meat or fake meat years ago so trying the Beyond meat was an experience I will not forget. If you're WFPB, be aware of the potential for your system to be stressed out if you consume fake meats like the Beyond products. It is likely okay for those that either eat these processed foods on a regular basis or for those wanting to eat less animal products but a WFPB person that's been at it for many years may find the experience less than desirable.

I also eat a (mostly) WFPB vegan diet. Once you train your palate to appreciate whole foods, dabbling in processed food can be a slippery slope into more and more junk food, since the whole food can then become less appealing. For example, even though I enjoy plenty of fruit, cutting out sugary processed food has helped me to appreciate the more subtle sweetness of carrots.

      Interesting that you experienced that.
About 3 years prior to going vegan,
My body stopped being able to digest
ANY/ALL dairy. I had thee most HORRIFIC
      experiences whenever i would consume
any dairy. It finally clicked in my thick skull,
that those painful digestion issues i had, only happened when i consumed dairy products.
So i stopped doing that immediately after
the last, 8 day ordeal of physical pain i
endured when i used a cup or so of the
Daisey brand sour cream on some tostadas
i had made for Superbowl weekend 2012.
I felt like i was going to die.
      On June 1st 2015, i FINALLY went 100% vegan.
A year or so after that, i found that
my body is no longer able to digest textured
soy, almonds, almond meal, flax meal, macadamias, hazelnuts, Brazil nuts.
Which is a genuine shame for me,
since i had perfected a TVP recipe
i had been working on in the year
leading up to my body no longer
being able to process that foods.
Now, i eat processed vegan meat substitutes every other month.

Yea I only have those when we go to a cookout and dont want to make me look so odd. I am seeing more people in the know about the benifits of a plant based diet. My moms neighbor had cancer and went based because of doctor recommendation and is alive today because of it
The other is a friend of my son's grandmother who also fought off cancer with whole plant foods
My wife said she would never go plant based and that I was just talking balogny. God help her. My kids are all on the fence about it because my wife doesnt believe in it. My kids do see my health and energy level at 49 almost 50 years old. Also I weigh less than I did in highschool which is nuts. I wish more people wood see the light and from the people I have met lately there is more people getting on it. The more that do the easier it gets.

I have now started eating beyond meat fairly often.... one beefsteak tomato or two smaller tomatoes, a burger, maybe an avocado, and lots of mustard (no bun/no extra carbs) is my main meal. Me gut is remaining slim and I'm really, really happy about that. By the way... very tasty and predictable tasty. I cook 7 min in a George Foreman type ceramic sandwich thingee. Still tastes great when overcooked. Just did my annual blood work, I'm on hormone replacement therapy, and my counts were all normal.

Not used to so much fat even though it was coconut it took me a day or so to really process that through my system. To avoid having to take blood pressure meds I have to restrict my sodium 2 a thousand milligrams in a day and the only way I can circumvent the amount of sodium in Beyond beef was to cut the sandwich in half which still filled me up perfectly. Yeah I would not choose to make this a daily habit but once every couple of months perhaps until they offer half size patties and sausages.

you'd think if beyond meat funded the study, they would have made sure it's clearer and more usable. the results from this are barely usable. having it be longer AND having a cool down period before switching would not only be more accurate, but it looked like it would have proved beyond meat right. why they harmed themselves with this poor methodology is beyond me(at). i don't mind the eggs and dairy (well, i do, but not for this study), because they were looking directly at meat replacement and the health of the meats, and the average person eats eggs and dairy, so removing it in the plant burger diet would obscure the results from the swap meat.

My guess: eating more salt makes me much more thirsty which means increased water intake. Since I’m full up on water, I’m less hungry for snacks and oversized portions.

Hamburgers and other things like it are not supposed to be eaten everyday and most people don't eat that way. I still eat for enjoyment. Every meal I eat I intend to enjoy. The key is to find healthier foods to eat that you like and still eat a burger when you actually want one. I genuinely crave a lot of healthy food like broccoli and tofu most of the time, but occasionally I want an Impossible burger and I don't deny myself that indulgence. When you actually enjoy most of your healthy meals you don't go for the other stuff as much.

I've tried Impossible and Beyond Burgers and they are good for the environment but not for me, I want to avoid oils and fat substitutes.
For those who aren't Vegan but want to transition. go for these products,it's a step in the right direction
but a new study just released shows the American obesity rate at the highest it's ever been, over 40%, the worst being young people.
So the answer isn't "vegan" burgers but low fat, low sugar, substitutes for meat, dairy etc, which
apparently isn't happening since the Obesity "pandemic" is one heck of a lot more dangerous than Covid.

      @karlwheatley1244 4 ปีที่แล้ว

"Is anyone going to bring up the Journal of American Cardiology’s article on saturated fats and how its not bad for you after all? " The reality is that it is a meaningless/dangerous article that draws on fatally flawed studies. Most studies and meta-analyses on fat only look at diets with 25% or more calories from fat, and the amazing benefits happen mostly around 7-15% calories from fat, so those studies claim "low-fat" diets don't work but never really studied low-fat diets. Also, in those studies you usually have people who were either eating too much saturated fat OR replaced that with highly-processed carbs, added salt and sugar, and chemicals. The research is clear that when your replace animal fat with lots of processed carbs, that causes as much disease as the animal foods/fat do, but when you replace them with low-fat whole plant foods, you get substantial improvements in health outcomes. So don't be fooled--the article doesn't prove anything and is built on an intellectual and scientific foundation of quicksand.

I’m not buying it. There is mounting evidence supporting how saturated fats are not problematic. Metabolic diseases began to increase as humans began to consume industrial oils and processed foods. Eating meat is natural and has been going on forever. Saturated fat as the problem doesn’t pass the “sniff test”

@@rjfriz5159 "I’m not buying it. There is mounting evidence supporting how saturated fats are not problematic." I can certainly understand why you wouldn't buy it, but please notice there is one set of researchers telling you saturated fat is no problem and another telling you saturated fat directly promote more heart disease and death. You might start wondering how that can be the case. I'm a university professor and researcher and part of what I study is how people get fooled about what works or what is true in various fields. In nutrition, part of the problem starts out with treating our current levels of disease (most of which would be wiped out by a healthy change in diet) as "normal." Then, any food/diet that CAUSES a little less disease gets labeled as "healthy" but if a food/diet doesn't cause any more disease than our very unhealthy diet does, we label it as "no harm." VERY few people eat a truly healthy diet in this country, so until recently, most studies compared one pretty unhealthy diet with another. What you learn from that is you can create roughly as much avoidable obesity, diabetes, heart disease etc eating high in animal fat and protein or high in processed junks foods. Can you create disease by eating lots of vegetable oils? Sure. But you can do the same with animal fat or added sugars/highly-refined grains.
But more recent studies show many diseases that we take for granted drop close to zero or zero if people eat the healthiest diet, which a a diet that is nutrient dense, very low in fat, and dominated by whole plant foods.
The people telling you saturated animal fat
isn't a problem forget to tell you that heart disease was already the #1 killer in 1900.
      Take care.

Beyond meat tastes amazing, but 26€ per Kg is ridiculously expensive.

I'm 90% vegan at the moment AKA struggling vegan. About once a month I "treat" my self to a bit of meat. I think for me, if I have an impossible burger instead that will be a big improvement.

Am I weird that I don't get - beyond meat and the impossible burger
I do make burgers and have meals
that mimic "meat" potatoes and two veg
The meat is usually a marinated tofu slice
I just don't crave the meaty texture.
Having said that it is good to know
that they appear to be marginally healthier
    and better for the environment.

To reduce this LDL fats and stuffs we all can exercise. I feel the man made meats are not high in nutrients and vitB as Meat organs. And remember our body absorbs nutrients from natural foods better than man made supplements
