I mean I did unironically learn the solo to the Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle way back in high school from that video the studio that did Metalocalypse made. Granted that was like thirteen years ago and I still can't *play* it very well, but that's totally on me for not practicing it cleanly 🤣
@@andrewdavila6232 once you get the hang of sweep picking, its easier to do. The hardest part is syncing your fretting hand to your picking hand. I just sweeped “Not Ready To Die” by a7x to practice. Its definitely not easy to start, and it took me a hot minute, but thats what practice is for
@ahh thats just grand sounds like an exaggeration lol. A beginner probably can't figure it out, or maybe will just play it with bad technique. An experienced player can definitely figure it out easily tho
My advice to new guitar players: Learn to play what you like. Wanna know why over 90% of beginners quit early on? It’s because learning guitar by playing music you don’t like is BEYOND BORING. It takes a lot of time and patience to play guitar. You will be in many ruts of feeling like you’re going nowhere. Believe me, it’s much easier to quit if you don’t even like the music you’re trying to play. Learning what you love is a lot more fun. Just learn the techniques along the way. Happy playing!
Also challenge yourself, choose a song you like that could be considered above your playing level and try your hardest. Because you WANT to learn it you actually work at it and over time you become better from it.
@dccaleb5529 thanks for the tip, but do you know of a way, or what do you think is the best way to consistently figure which songs you want to play that are at your playing level? Because I know which songs I want to play, whether those songs are on my level or not is a whole other matter which makes it difficult to both play what I want while also playing at my level.
@@lorenzonq learning to play scales will help with dexterity, but you really only learn to play what you wanna play by starting slow (preferably with a metronome to keep the proper pace) and then gradually playing faster as you get more nimble with your fingers
I picked up the guitar like 6 months ago but practice like once every week or so. It was quite cool to see that I was able to figure out how the riff was gonna be like before the final result. Maybe just practicing Metallica songs helped out a bit. Alot of chugging in their older songs, I definitely can't chug at their pace.
That is seriously a very solid way of teaching things People talk way too much and plug their own shit, while you already could learn something with videos such as these "Ion wanna hear bout ya new tshirts, i wanna learn riffz!!!" me at 1 am with a guitar on me lap
I've been self teaching to play for a few months now and know almost nothing aside from reading tabs and trying to play them... I'm proud to say that Master Chief taught me how to actually preform a palm mute, something I did not know about previously. Thank you Chief 💜
I already knew this riff for a long time before seeing this but I keep watching it over and over again. I hope Master Chief can teach us Blow Me Away by Breaking Benjamin one day.
I’d love it if Chief could explain to me how to understand what frets, and other music lingo means, so I can better understand music in general (pretty sure I understand what octaves are though).
May not be the chief, but a fret in this case is the dividers on the neck of a guitar that denote where one each string to put your fingers for every half step!
I remember being new and being so mad that not every video explained the insane basics like this but I totally get it now, they're not gonna explain what a guitar is in every video lmfao Edit: I am so glad people relate to this

Today I, a guitarist for 15 years, learned a palm mute is also called a “chuggie.”
yeah I've never heard of it either lol
Fr, me and my bandmates every once in awhile jam metal tunes and Im definitely gonna call it that to get their reaction lol
he altered "chugging". its what hetfield does when he's downpicking. It's named after the "chug chug chug" sound that the steady downpicks make
I personally prefer chugachugs
@@DjackTheDjurst lol, chugachuga for the fast parts and choo choo for the sustained chords
Chief’s voice is perfect for AI, since he’s so monotone. I genuinely can’t tell the difference.
Right
I agree
Need more of this, no better motivation to play the guitar than master chief himself teaching you
Need less of this

Why was this better than my guitar teacher?
Well, is your teacher Master Chief? Didn't think so.
because this is interesting to listen too
I can't believe it took me a single master chief video to learn this riff
I wish every guitar lesson on youtube was this to the point and accurate. Amazing
