After watching this, I really have no excuse for being stagnant in sidewalk surfing in my late 40's. This is amazing and I know there are others out there like this gentleman still ripping it up!
I'm 45. Not near Mr Kim. However almost 2 years after getting motivated to surf and skate again, I am glad I did. Gym 4-5 days a week surf everyday (Pacific island) skate a few x a week. Life with skating is great bro. Get into it again. Just start out slow cause you eat more sh!+ at this age. 😅
Definitely get out there again, it's worth it. I'm 45 and bailed hard last year with an injury, but am back at it. I suck, but am having fun with my kids. Added Muay Thai back into my life too and couldn't feel more alive from the sports. Boarder for life...
20 years ago I was learning how to do frontside Wallrides watching Kim flying at my local under bridge skatepark in São Paulo (Pista da Saude Hiena). So amazing! Kim is a rare breed, one of the few legends in BR still ripping on the board high level and with proper sponsors! Thank you for the inspiration master 🙏🛹✨
NO WAY!!! This is mind blowing...I lived in Sao Paulo from79-83 and skated Wave Park, haven't seen pics in a lifetime. Had locally made 10x30 Bera Rio board with automotive grit grip tape we had to glue to board with wood glue. I got stitches in my shin on that corner in first pic when I took my first run without pads on. Also OD'd on Coca Cola when there wasn't any water to drink and my poor body couldn't handle 5 Cokes over an afternoon. Also tried to sneak in one night and fell halfway through the ceiling while walking across the roof of the front entry. Memories!!
This dude is so inspiring! I always think how long will I be able to keep skating before I'm completely broken but Its good to see people are still killin it at 56!
I'm around his age and had my fair share of wipeouts over the years. Due to serious cumulative spine and knee damage, I can no longer skate and *really* miss it. Glad he's still going! 💪🏻🛹💥
Thanks for this episode Nomad! Kim is one of my all time favourite skaters! He has that true essence of skateboarding and that classic trained bowl style, so cool to watch. Try to get someone to hook you up with Harry 'Og' Jumonji next, that guy is amazing as well, a true street skate skateboard royalty.
3:10 bro this over Vert wall is no Joke! He skated the most difficult obstacles of the spot! So nice that you went there with him and was able to meet the locals too like Luti, one of the founders of the diy together with Rafael Finha Another masterpiece my friend, thanks 🤍🙏🛹 skate for life and for fun always!
57 and still Rollin skate for life. Not as good as I was when I was younger but I still enjoy it love seeing the older guys out there. Gray shredders 😁
Keep it up!!! Keep the grey days coming. I surf mostly at 56 but still enjoy surf skating and skating the parks. I just keep it more mellow at the skate parks nowadays
It's amazing to know that he skates for the most of skateboarding history and he is notable giving up yet. Huge respect for Daniel Kim, hopes he reads this and that he will never stop skating.
skateboarding is life. you do what you love it keeps you young and a motivated. every skater should definitely look up to this guy. one day this will be them.
Man, hope you are still in São Paulo. Come to Santo André on Friday or Saturday morning. There’s a 70 years old man skateboarding well. His name is Zé (José). He is from São Paulo (east zone), you may ask about him around there too to old school guys, they may tell you about him. Now, he is coming to Santo André as there’s a new skate park, every Friday and Saturday as these are his days off work.
I'm 47 and still feel and move like I'm in my early 30's, just got a bunch of gray hairs. hoping to follow daniel's lead. i wanna go out mangling myself on a handrail
Lucky that his ankles have survived well enough for him to continue skating. Most of the guys I know stopped skating because their ankles are now being held together with pins, screws, and hope.
yeah when I stopped playing basketball due to moving to a new area not so good for hooping, I felt my body just getting progressively clumsy and weak. I lifted weights, but it didn't help the clumsy. I was just getting dull. Now that I'm skating, I'm sharper than ever! The back aint doing too well though lol
