6:04 Interestingly, my own Progenitor Guard Dalek did come with the light cages painted. They did this on a lot of the early ones (Red Supreme Dalek, Ironsides, Crucible Dalek) but then just stopped bothering to add that detail. Nice to see them finally getting Sec’s shading right. It’s supposed to be a kind of alternating effect going down the body of the Dalek (head, neck, shoulders, skirt) so having three out four gloss instead of two out of four just made the skirt stick out like a sore thumb. This has all the makings of a new definitive Dalek Sec version. The bronze Dalek I’m less keen on, for every step forward there seems to be a step back with it too, but if nothing else it would make excellent custom fodder.
Im glad that after weeks of nothing but misinformation inadvertantly spread by me over what these figures liok like, we finally have a review of the finished figures to set the record straight
It’s crazy how completely unproblematic the regular Dalek figure has always looked and then when placed against the new B&M you’re shocked at just how plain and plastic it really is. The new one looks so much better, I’m considering trying to get two, one to keep as it is and then maybe one to replace the gun arm with the 3D printed ones you can get from some figure accounts
How did you get them so quick? So glad this set is coming never got the US Dalek sec nor any new sculpt gold daleks. Happy to see the correct gold used finally!! Would it of killed them to call it Dalek sec on the box though ?
I’m definitely getting this set. I’ve watched a S4 Dalek sculpt of Dalek sec for years and the metaltron looks fabulous as well. The fender of the metaltron is too light I agree but easily fixable for me so idm. This is such a simple set but one I’m glad they did. Is it my imagination or have they modified the sculpt somehow. xx
I always felt projenator is a good army builder but the original crucible dalek release was a better acurate option but hard to get hold of. So glad we got a new NSD and the other releases blend in well with the new.
I kinda feel the progenitor gaurdian dalek was more accurate, it had painted ear cages, the bronze was more metallic less orange than the crucible dalek, but the arms were awful the paint peeled off it, the gun would snap off if your moved it too much and the eyeball came off too Crucible dalek had better material construction
the progenitor guard has really loose and bendy limbs and it can get quite annoying after a while, i’d say the original crucible ones are the best ones to army build.
@@ParakoEPC why did AL do that with ALL the 2010 dalek variants, he had it with the construction of the crucible dalek my word, they were amazing, he did it right again with the SFX bronze dalek ALTHOUGH he messed up the shade of bronze again there (almost the wrong shade the cult of skaro dalek set had) Annoyingly the protytype image was very accurate, gold band just like the dalek from dalek had with a similar bronze shade to the progenitor guardian WTF
Just a heads up, the ‘regular’ Dalek in this set isn’t a regular Dalek at all. It has the gold band around the midsection, which only appeared in _Dalek_ and on a single Dalek in _The Magician’s Apprentice_ We’ll have to wait a bit more for a regular NSD.
Kinda weird that they packaged the Metaltron with Dalek Sec. I assumed they’d have a Metaltron two-pack, with the clean restored appearance and the messed up damaged appearance. The only time these two Dalek designs appeared together was in _The Magician’s Apprentice_ - I guess this set is based on that story? XD
There is a background story around it which is discussed in a podcast that power of 3 did with Al dewar! Basically this wave was created at a point where CO didn’t know if the license would continue for the new era so they decided to prioritise essential figures that are needed, and then because the metaltron is a lone dalek in “Dalek” they put it with sec so that it can still be done done and then they’ve at least done Dalek sec because the licence may have gone (luckily the licence seems to be here to stay!!)
@@gallifreycustoms7575makes sense, I myself ended up laying through the nose for a regular bronze Dalek drone because I didn’t know if CO would reach the new series Daleks lol

They both look very cool..

Imagine someone made a custom where the new dalek has the classic colot scheme while the classic has the bronze look, that would be cool
Can’t wait to get this set

Evolution PR sent me an advanced copy to review, it does say dalek sec on the box, but says black dalek too

Meant to say wanted ffs autocorrect lol 😂. I’ve now since bought the set and I am eagerly awaiting its arrival.
