      "This is part of the business model we developed over time"
      It's part of the business model because they can get away with it and customers will keep paying them. We need to stop being customers of HP.

      @@stunt94u It's not just HP for sure, but do other printers have firmware/software that kills the printer when a 3rd party ink is installed? I'm asking seriously because I just tried a remanufactured cartridge in my HP and now the printer seems bricked even if I put the original (empty) HP cartridge back in it.

      For real. When you buy a light weight ink cartridge for $30 from HP that prints 50 pages vs off brand for $20 that will print 250 pages. Rippoff. I was wondering why my printer stopped working. I had to reset it.

    If that guy keeps explaining to printer customers why he feels entitled to rip them of, HP will soon be out of business, at least on the printer market.

    Thanks for saying the quiet part out loud. I stopped buying HP printers just because of this. I bought a product and I can’t use it the way I want. Then the product was never mine. Never buying Hp printers again

    All HP products are banned in my home and business. Anything that requires a cloud connection to function is also banned. There are no walled gardens in my life.

      Totally agreed. Buying stuff that required cloud connection give you more features and convenience. But It is fun until the company went bankrupt or decided to stop running the server. The old school way is always the best.

      I differ here, in theory it actually could, but this is due to HPs horrible idea to have any theoretically software-propagating electronics in the cartridges for obsolescence/unneccesary features in the first place!
      Thank you HP, for making it absolutely clear to never ever buy your printers again and shrugging me off the rest of your products as a side effect as well! No more HP products!

    HP recently released “antivirus” update that will brick your printer if using 3rd party cartridges… ya know… protecting you from the COVID in your ink 😂

    • @xchronox0

      Honestly, this has me wondering.
      Could we technically boycott HP by buying all their printers and none of the ink? Obviously we don't have infinite wealth to work with, but.
      Theoretically, if we buy every printer shipped and sold, and none of the ink, we deny the printers from people who would buy ink, while also forcing HP to take their losses.
      We'd never be able to pull this off, but imagine.

  • @JordanV
    @JordanV 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

    Oh brother, get a Brother laserjet.
    Far less cartridge replacement, and they offer taking back cartridge too for reuse/sustainability reasons.
    And their printers won't do this BS that is clearly the direction HP is forcing upon its customers.

    I bought a new HP printer less than a year ago.
    I did the instant ink trial. They reminded me the trial is almost over so I could opt out, so I did.
    Moments ago I received the message on the little LCD screen :"The indicated cartridges cannot be used until printer is enrolled in HP Instant Ink."
    What I didn’t know was that the cartridges that I received on the plan wouldn’t work once I opted it out, at the strike of midnight on the day. They are still more than half full. They are still allowing me to purchase from my retailer of choice.
    I had saved my partially used cartridges from my previous (broken) almost identical (except it was offline) printer and installed those. I got a message that it thinks those are not HP cartridges. They are. They are currently working but I wonder if they will cut off my printing capabilities any minute.
    This will be my last HP printer.
    Hopefully there still is a non-intrusive manufacturer out there.

    Buy a used Deskjet 1000. It is a 'portable' printer meaning small ink cartridges and paper capacity but its' speed and quality seem fine. It is even happy printing with the color cartridge removed! buy a couple of them to last a lifetime. Aftermarket ink it cheap for it. Or another brand

    Unfortunately the interviewers were not fully briefed or not across the facts on this story, as result ,could not dig down to the facts or question the misleading statements made by HP's CEO.
    So many misleading statements by the HP CEO it is laughable. The updates stop all aftermarket cartridges not just the IP infringing ones, not all and perhaps no aftermarket cartridge is a security risk . I have never heard of any. HP do not collect EVERY used cartridge they sell and HP do not recycle and re use EVERY cartridge they do actually collect.
    HP and other printer makers pay Planet Ark to destroy, shred , not reuse most used cartridges. Planet Ark do not allow true recyclers access to the collected cartridges to try and recycle them for reuse. If they really care about the environment they should allow the empty cartridges to be refurbished as many times as possible and then shred the cartridges for use as park benches etc. Not destroy them after one use.
    Lastly high price subscriptions is not the most convenient option for customers as the HP CEO claims. Choice on price, store customer service and availability are also convenient things. HP run out of cartridges all the time, without aftermarket their is no choice other than wait sometimes weeks and months for HP stock Good interview but the story is much deeper on both HP and Planet Ark

    HP printers are the biggest steaming pile of crap. We gave up on them back in 2010. We got a Brother brand laser printer, black and white. But it has been the best printer we've ever owned. Non of this subscription for toner B.S. It always works.

  • @NortheastToner
    @NortheastToner 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    It looks like the guy to the left of the guest needs to call me about his paper jam issue. Also, the managed HP print is not a good idea. Costs are higher than buying toner cartridges. He also forgot to mention that remanufacturers that reuse the original HP chip are allowed to have their toner cartridges inside of the HP printers. They are just trying to blast out the compatible toners manufactured in China. Which I don't blame him.
