Fun real-world use of the mic. I am hoping to upgrade my audio for my own TH-cam Channel and have been use a small mic connected to my iPhone 14 Pro Max directed at me as I play video games or speak but been considered a boom style mic or podcast style mic or even these small wireless. My only worry is battery life for how many years these will run. My wife has went through 2 sets of Apple wireless headphones in only so many years and they seem to only last 2 years, maybe 3? That worries me if these small battery devices have no replaceable battery and they only last a couple years. Has your DJI 2 full size lasted for many years or? Wonder how many years of life one can expect. I like the design though and they sound nice too. Thanks for the review.
The battery is a worry but honestly I don't think devices like this are built to last much beyond a few years which is a shame. Essentially you're paying for its compact size and convenience with the expectation you'll buy a new model when this one eventually stops working. My DJI Mic 2 has lasted about a year. I think the Mic Mini is a fantastic starting point and is great for mobiles as long as you aren't using two microphones at the same time connected to different devices.
It’s fascinating how there can be enough motivation to record and edit a video looking for differences in sound quality between the mic2 and the micmini. It’s like comparing the differences in flavour between the mcdouble and the quarterpounder cheese.
I like this comment. What I was after is a way to easily record a podcast with two of my friends and right before I purchased the Mic 2, the Mic Minis were released. The price was right and I figured if I could save some cash I'd go for it. Ultimately I realised that I needed something with internal recording but I took the opportunity to provide a fun review that lead me to that realisation. It's not easy making these videos, at times it's fun but mostly it takes a lot of patience and commitment. I do it for me but if I help people make a choice around their next tech purchase in the process that's a win. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
The Mic Mini is so compact that I forgot it was still attached to my hoodie. It dangled there for a couple of days (held by the magnet) until I finally noticed it again. 😄
That's what I miss the most about it, it's so small and doesn't pull on my clothes. If I didn't need the internal recording of the Mic 2 I'd keep the Mic Mini.
Super thorough and practical review. Also bonus points for the cute factor. 🐢
Jade is hilarious in this video 😂
