    So glad things are looking more positive. It must have been a sucker-punch to be told you have diabetes, which, let's face it, naturally feels like "OK, start packing your bags, mate!". In fact, it can be managed and I really appreciate you sharing this advice. It's also a salient reminder to get ahead of it if you can and reduce calories and carbs and get out of the pre-diabetes zone. It's just such a shame that I have a sweet tooth. Oh I love salads and lots of veg, but I also find it difficult to break away from the good stuff. As Wilde said, I can resist anything but temptation!

      I do know that feeling, and it's very difficult to give up things like good quality chocolate; however, it is also possible to find high-quality chocolate, as an example, which has very low sugar. I personally go for Lindt, which has 90 to 95% chocolate. there are also books such as the Katie and Giancarlo Caldesi Books, which give recipes for low calorie low-carb puddings one of my favourites is the chocolate fondant which I can highly recommend both hot and cold!

    The problem in my house is that the rest of the family are carb-aholics. As I do a majority of the of the cooking, it is difficult to make two meals every meal.
    I have had to take a number of medicines. My concerns are my eyes and neuropathy. I just had my semi annual eye exam and everything is stable, thankfully, including my beginnings of cataracts and glaucoma. Neuropathy has gotten slightly worse but it only makes me more conscious of it.
    It is a battle that I cannot let my guard down.

      Hi Paul. You have my sympathy. it's really hard when everyone else is enjoying bread, pasta pizza, beer et cetera. For my purposes, I've taken to eating more meat and spiralising courgettes or eating mashed Swede. both at least let me feel that I'm eating similar food even if it's not the same! Good luck with the eyes and neuropathy both concerns of mine, obviously!
