- Boy am I glad I hit this meet up!!! The 6th of August has, for decades, been the day to celebrate the AE86. For years I covered this yearly Daikoku PA meet for Speedhunters.com but as it started getting smaller and smaller I sort of forgot about it. Until this year! 2024 was one for the books, so many old and new 86s, a true celebration of one of Japan’s most legendary chassis and its modern reincarnations. Of course being Daikoku there were a ton of other cool cars to check out. Hit play and enjoy!

In the 80s when I worked at Toyota, I never imagined how loved they will be .
They're ugly as sin. Which makes me wonder... In retrospective, did they look as cool as the new Gen 86s when they came out? or were they always kinda lame looking? I guess they're one of the best examples of function over form.

In the 80s, when I was a teen aspiring to my 1st car, these (Corollas) were just cheap econoboxes that seemed to last forever. Very cool to see the love

Do you see a lot of S12 Silvias in Japan? I always wondered why they never got as popular as the AE86 when they seem very similar. Is it just because of DK and Initial D? The 4AGE is a plus too.

I'm an old dude with an '89 Supercharged MR2. I thought there was waaaay too many GR86's and BRZ's at this event(Yes,, I know it's the spiritual successor of the AE86 but damn). Even though it was an AE86 event,, man I would've loved if at least one first gen AW11 would've represented and drove in. Not a one. I was surprised. The new generation is taking over,, as you said.

Aku mau mliat clean fresh supra ready on road. Not too much hellaflush, to me that aint it. I liked to see a car looks so comfort, no problem with road bumpers. Speed like 4wd rally. The remedy saying something like its ready for need for speed unbound😎.

Oh wow Dino, it’s nice to see that Mitsubishi GTO/3000GT. I wonder if you still see some of them in the streets of Japan whether in stock form or some of them being modified by their owners. By the way it’s nice to see a lot of AE86’s, GT86, GR86 and BRZ’s out there especially the white panda ones.

They are very rare and only shop I know that did much with them was Pit Road M
