I don't blame joel for being mad honestly. Joel was literally burning dead bodies, including children, having to do horrible jobs, seeing people be hanged, nothing but violence around him. While he's terrified because his brother hasn't messaged him in weeks. Goes out with Tess and ellie, tess dies, they go to frank and bill's both of them are dead, find kinship with henry and gets to see two children get along before once again tragedy strikes. He gets there not only is his brother alive and well but they have a bar, movie nights, there isn't literal death everywhere. Honestly I think Joel underreacted. I would have probably punched him in the face.
I kinda miss not having more moments between Joel and Tommy, like the hydroelectric dam story for example. Bc besides Joel feeling like you described here, their time together was so abrupt and idk, weird maybe 😮💨
Ellie doesn’t care that Tommy is more physically fit and capable of getting her to the Fireflies, her connection with Joel is what’s keeping her alive in her eyes😖❤️

When he gets there he finds out his brother has been living the cosy life without a care in the world. Seems like Tommy didnt think of Joel at all, no attempt to contact him, no attempt to go get him. I can see why Joel would be pissed.
I think its also that Joel was desperate to get a battery and so did a dangerous mission that got Tess killed. If Tommy had told him he was going radio silence, Tess would still be alive.
The horse is not CGI or a dummy, it's just resting a hoof lol Animals do it all the time in very hot or very cold grounds; they alternate resting their legs. It's like when people shift their weight from one leg to another when standing for a long time

The fact that Tommy stopped all connections with Joel and didn’t tell him about his wife,new safe thriving community,and had him worrying for him and if it weren’t for Joel to go look for him he probably would have never seen him again he was so selfish he didn’t even tell his own brother about an amazing place he could be with him all because of his wife family comes first in my opinion
I'm a huge true crime fan, was watching a show yesterday where the mother of the victim told the killer, you not only killed my baby but me too. At the end of the episode she said she looks put together, but it's all fake. I imagine it's like becoming a zombie, shambling thru life. You go thru the motions, but a part (or all it) of your soul dies. Its heartbreaking. Great reaction as always guys!
My thought with it is Joel obviously has ptsd and one of his triggers is loss. so then that button is pushed he pushes away anyone he could possibly lose. also why he had panic attacks.
For the horse, one leg bends like that when they’re resting. So it’s a sign they are relaxed and maybe even asleep. They often sleep standing up like that. It actually took me out of the scene a tad as well because there’s no way the horse would be so chill about someone falling off and another leaping right after them. Of course, a realistic horse reaction where it starts suddenly would be dangerous 😅
I think they can't get the horse to stand still for that pan shot so they had to put a CGI horse in. I didn't notice it the first time I watched it bc I was focusing on Joel and Ellie.
I agree about the horse for whom this posture is normal. But I personally was thinking more during the scene that when you're in a situation like Ellie's, time is said to stand still around you, which would explain the horse "freezing" :D

The fact that this was a tv shot and the rider hadn't really tumbled off yet the horse stood still, is actually pretty impressive as far as the horse's training.

This is why this has been the only shooter video game that I like. There are so many video games out there where you can just turn off your feelings and become a killing machine, shooting and killing your way into getting better and better at such violence with no issues, but this game was different. It was created so that you feel remorse for killing, especially the NPCs you don't have to kill. (like most of the dogs) This world is still so far fetched but it to me allows me to feel the way I would feel if this were to really take place. For to many of us, life is worth something and to just kill with no remorse is not in any way desirable.
I doubt you guys will see this comment since this video was uploaded more than a year ago. But I wanted to offer some additional insight to the final scenes in this episode when Joel gets stabbed, since I havent seen any of the other comments mention it. What happens to Joel here is NOT how it happens in the video game. If I remember correctly, he gets into a scuffle with one of the raiders while inside the building on the 2nd floor, and then crashes through the window and falls to the ground. They show Joels body impaled on a sharp, jagged metal pole that was sticking out of the ground, going all the way through him and sticking out through his gut. Ellie somehow manages to lift him off it and they escape with their lives (barely). I'm willing to bet the reason they changed that scene for the show is because they realized how unrealistic it would be for a character to survive a fall and injury of that severity, and had to dial it wayyy down. Any other antagonist or side character surely would have bled out and died, but Joel is built different lol

They were actually having trivial conversations. And he gave her a swig of liquor. Before that he would just say, _"shut up," "no"_ and _"go to sleep."_ Their relationship had progressed. *EDIT:* I think it should also be noted, that it is *Joel's* feelings towards *Ellie* that make him beg *Tommy* to take her. Because he knows he can't protect her. He doesn't want to let her down like he did his daughter. *Joel* was absolutely broken up that *Ellie* had to shoot a man. Not just that he couldn't take down that kid, but that *Ellie* had to kill someone because he wasn't good enough or strong enough. 😔

I'll point out that horses wear metal shoes, and temps were in the negatives when that scene was filmed. Horses will stand like that to relieve pressure and rest a limb, but they'll also lift their hooves up because the snow is cold. It does look weird, but it's a fairly common pose for a horse.

Horses can lock 1 leg, all the weight is on the bone, so the other leg can relax and rest. Yup they sleep like that when standing.

🤭 IMO you two do more of a number scaring _yourselves_ than the show ever could. Particularly when nothing's happening. 😄
After the 3 months (even before finding *Tommy's* place) *Joel* was clearly more open than he was in the episodes prior. They were actually having trivial conversations. And he gave her a swig of liquor. Before that he would just say, _"shut up," "no"_ and _"go to sleep."_ Their relationship had progressed.
*EDIT:* I think it should also be noted, that it is *Joel's* feelings towards *Ellie* that make him beg *Tommy* to take her. Because he knows he can't protect her. He doesn't want to let her down like he did his daughter. *Joel* was absolutely broken up that *Ellie* had to shoot a man. Not just that he couldn't take down that kid, but that *Ellie* had to kill someone because he wasn't good enough or strong enough. 😔

I'll point out that horses wear metal shoes, and temps were in the negatives when that scene was filmed. Horses will stand like that to relieve pressure and rest a limb, but they'll also lift their hooves up because the snow is cold. It does look weird, but it's a fairly common pose for a horse.
